i've seen quite some discussions about how harry potter would look like if harry was a girl so i think i'd like to speak about that too.
beginning with harriet's (since it's the most popular name for a female harry) treatment by the dursleys: it wouldn't be better. dursleys' problem wasn't the fact that harry was a boy, it was the fact that harry was a wizard. since harriet would be a witch her treatment would still be awful. we also have to remember it was 80s-90s and dursleys were pretty conservative - they'd still use her to clean (like they did with harry) and you know, she's a girl, they were considered weaker so i wouldn't be surprised if vernon didn't hold himself as much as he did with harry. people wouldn't react on dudley's actions because "boys will be boys". i think we all can agree dudley and piers would be so sexist. so no, if there would be a change, then her treatment would be worse as in more physical abuse.
misogyny would be another problem. personally i always felt like it was lesser problem than in muggle world since we had mcgonagall, we had umbridge, we had bellatrix, we had amelia bones. they all and other women had high position and were respected in their community. not obviously like it doesn't exist and i feel like harriet would be an example for that.
she was a young girl known for vanishing one of the most powerful dark wizards of all the time. harry never showed off with his magical skills much and i feel like harriet wouldn't either and since she's a girl, some people would take it as a sign she is not powerful. or that it's all up to dumbledore or she was just lucky. pretty sure males like zacharias or draco would say that. they would probably misogyny her on quidditch field too.
but no one would misogyny her like voldemort.
i think people like lockhart would go on how she should behave since she is a girl and breaking rules makes her look bad because girls cannot do that. i can kinda see umbridge doing something like that too - for example coming at her desire of becoming an auror.
i have a sad feeling guys would be flirting with her in a very nasty way.
going to her relationship with ron and hermione. i don't really think it would change much. obviously harriet would have a different look on some of the situation than harry, but their characters would be still very similar. she wouldn't be very girly so she would get along well with ron. but i do think she would get along with hermione even better since they would understand each other as a females and gossip in their dormitory. this way it would make both those friendship more equal.
and since we're on topic of the personality - i don't like the idea of her being more sensitive. just because she is a girl doesn't mean she would cry over everything. growing up the way she did she most likely would barely cry just like harry did.
her relationship with snape depends on her look. if we're making her looking like lily with james' eyes it's going to be very creepy. snape had kind of an obsession with lily and seeing a child copy of her it would probably make harriet very uncomfortable - though we have to take a look on how many males we have, poor girl's gonna be really uncomfortable with some of them. if she looks more like james (the option i prefer) then is just gonna hate her they way he hated harry.
but her look is gonna affect her relationship with sirius too - we always talk about james & sirius, but he was friends with lily too. there's possibility of him treating harriet more like lily because she looks like her. that could lead to some disagreements because of harriet getting so much into trouble cause lily never did. though i don't really think so looking at who sirius is. but we never know. that's why option with her looking more like james is better - even if she has more physical similarities to him, she's still a girl which is a big difference that would probably keep in sirius mind that she isn't james.
and the pairings. that's interesting topic. going by canon we can agree harriet x ginny would never happened because of jkr. i think romione would be kept cause i don't really portrait harriet x ron. if it was made by jkr it would be probably george/fred x harriet or neville x harriet. which is okay but i have to admit that as much as i dislike draco, idea of him having enemies to lovers with harriet and getting redemption is my weakness. it would be interesting to see cause we would get to see more "slytherins aren't all bad" from harriet which we didn't really get from harry and it would add some interesting plots.
and why is every fanart making her so ugly? she's james and lily's daughter there's no way she would look so ugly. i swear the only pretty fanarts of her are the one by @rhombusgirl (when harry met tom) and this one (the bottom one)
