Long Lost Childhoods

I don’t usually like when people say “I was born in the wrong generation”, but I will never fault the kids of today for wishing for the childhoods of 2000s and 90s kids.....for most of it stems from the uniquely childlike desire to play outside and convene in child-centric locations, and there’s nowhere like that today. we make fun of ipad kids, but parents today mindlessly lock their children inside and glue their kids eyes to the screen. malls are either gone or completely unsafe. former hangout places ban teenagers. someone will film and post your embarrassing childhood moments for clout. predators at large. cars zoom over former skate parks. skateboarders get the police called on them. society despises children for existing as children. 

kids and teens today miss a childhood they never got. they miss the productive unproductivity of hot summer days and nights. they miss the local outdoor body of water to cannonball in. they miss discovering shiny treasure (a nickel from 1925) in the mud. they miss splashing in puddles on the street. they miss getting spongebob popsicles from an icecream truck. they miss hanging out at the mall and window shopping at Hottopic. they miss buying cute clothes from Limitedtoo. they miss wasting hours at the local arcade. they miss screaming and cheering when they make the newest highscore on pacman. they miss embarrassing themselves at dance dance revolution. they miss riding home on their skateboards and bikes. they miss laying in their friend’s front yard. and watching the sunset. they miss playing in the street as the night forms. they miss the loud music playing from their speakers without getting screamed at by neighbors. they miss scratching at mosquito bites. they miss catching fireflies in a jar. they miss searching for constellations. they miss setting up a makeshift tent in the backyard. they miss playing the music low and telling scary stories. they miss running inside when they heard a twig snap. they miss having no cares in the world. 

they don’t truly want to waste away watching videos. they want that as an occasional guilty pleasure. what they miss most of all is the long lost childhoods of their parents, and their parents parents, and their parents parents parents. all they do is miss, and I hope one day these freeing and long lost childhoods they crave are given to them.

it’s so fascinating watching everything with the 2nd user go down. i find it hard to believe that horikoshi would make the 2nd ofa user, a character directly linked to izuku and his quirk, look and kind of behave so similarly to the ONE character that has remained essential to izuku’s past, present, and future, katsuki bakugou, without SOME important reason. ig we’ll have to wait and see but I’m just scratching my head trying to figure it out

i’m having a real case of 2nd user brain rot tonight. like!!! why! why does he look so much like bakugou! why is he the most mysterious of the ofa users!! why is he the only one who’s quirk hasn’t been revealed yet if not for bakugou related plot reasons!!

i’m not 100% into the time travel theory just bc it doesn’t really fit the tone of the story but!! i’ve been thinking about what if the real reason why bakugou was kidnapped was an attempt by afo to change the timeline 👀 if bakugou could be turned into a villain then yoichi would’ve never escaped his older brother 👀👀👀 just a thought!

because i’ve seen NOBODY talk about this, i’m taking this discussion into my own hands. if you’ve spent literally any time near izuku stans for the past couple months, you will have heard the mourning of the “light” in his eyes. izuku has always been known as a sort of sunshine mc, his eyes always shining with joy for almost everything he does. however as he’s been through his vigilante arc, his eyes have lost that familiar light. this was a necessary change because it displays how exhausted, sad, and alone (due to his own self-isolation) he is. 

what does katsuki have to do with any of this? well, literally everything. if you’ve read the manga up to this point, you know that katsuki basically sacrificed himself to save izuku. izuku was horrified and angry and lashed out. he literally lost his mind. this was the last time izuku and katsuki had interacted up until yesterday’s release. he left the hospital and said nothing to his friends, including katsuki. he left him a note which we haven’t been shown yet.

people who stan katsuki and izuku have been anxiously waiting for both katsuki’s reaction to izuku leaving and their reunion. now going back to izuku’s eyes. he has been working himself to death, exhausted but refusing to stop his search for afo. while in a bad situation, katsuki appeared outg of nowhere. izuku saw him and was shocked to say the least. katsuki took out his phone and said something like “guys, I found him”. if you look at izuku’s eyes after seeing katsuki after not seeing him for what was probably weeks or even months, it appears that he has his light again. 

the relationship they have is important and is crucial in defining who both of them are. katsuki is izuku’s inspiration and his “image of victory”, izuku is katsuki’s rival and he wants to help him get stronger so he can surpass him. to me, at least, it seems like katsuki was the only person besides inko who could bring the light back to izuku’s eyes. to bring back that determined, kind, and strong demeanor that define izuku
