Hanging out with my mini me this past weekend at @smithsonian American History #SMITHSONIANFOOD then we went on to @icecreamjubilee @lislandbaby had pumpkin Thai and spicy chocolate, I had maple rye and spicy chocolate. (at Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History)
A homeless man walks back and forth near my building picking the flowers from the flower beds and hands them to people as they walk by. The first time he try to hand me this same kind of flower(pictured) I was reluctant to take it. It was the unknown of what was going to happen next that kept me from doing so. When I looked back after not taking it I saw that he was not harmful. As I walked to the train yesterday he was trying to give the same flower to anyone who would take it. As I was running behind on my evening, I decided to take the flower. I said thank you and kept walking when he shouted, Do you know what kind of flower it is? looked back smiled and said no. I can't remember the name, but what made me smile on my commute home was that he just wanted to share something so simple and beautiful with everyone. It's the little things in life . I left this on the train so it can make someone else smile. This happen three years ago. Small acts of kindness goes a long way.
Check out this month @womenshealthmag on page 18 @oh_its_rita_b @health_fabulous and the picture I took of her.

#Repost @createthelove (@get_repost) ・・・ What were the messages you received around emotion growing up? • There's often a large cultural/societal message we receive around emotions for both men and women... "If you're a guy, you don't have feelings. If you do, don't share the sad ones. If you do share feelings, be angry, cause that's how men express pain. If you cry, you're a pussy." And for women, some are, "You are too emotional. Too needy. You're overly emotional and so much more dramatic than needed. Please everyone around you, and never nurture your own needs." • I'm sure we have all felt these and often many others. It's important to understand what the messages you received were surrounding communication and emotions because that is almost always why you communicate (or don't) the way you do. • Love and connection require vulnerability. It requires us to step into the space of sharing things that may not be reciprocated. It requires finding the courage to expose our hearts. And this communication and vulnerability might feel SO terrifying... but when you don't share how you feel, you reject yourself... and then you'll project that rejection onto your partner/friends/family. • So everything we fear, we birth. (i.e. We don't share how we feel because we're afraid of being hurt/rejected, and us not sharing is us rejecting ourselves.) • So, birth love. Be open. By sharing how you feel, you send the message to yourself that your emotions are worthy of being loved and accepted. That's powerful shit. #createthelove
