If your first response to someone saying they have cancer is to pity them, say you’re SO sorry, and then you treat that person completely different from that point on? I am biting you.

I’m so goddamn sick of people assuming I’m miserable 100% of the time or that I need to be treated special because I’m a Cancer Patient™. You know nothing about my prognosis or my treatment regime. Do not assume you know what I’m feeling.

For some people cancer becomes their primary disability and I want it to be treated as a disabled person, not seen as some pitiable beacon of inspiration for your internalized ableism.
