Everything was good. She could feel the bass booming in her ears, and the drink had her feeling worry free. Anything could happen right now and she wouldn’t care. She entwined her other hand with Mat’s, and she held tight, bouncing around to the beat of the music. Everything flew by her. How long had they been dancing? Who cared? A song ended as they spun around, and when the came to a stop Annabella hugged Mat around his torso, tears in her eyes as she laughed. She quickly wiped them away and looked up at Mat, giving him a big smile.

“You okay?” It took Mathias a while to realise that the other had tears in her eyes, he looked down, although slightly buzzed, he was still functional enough to see them. The song had ended, and the Dane had no idea how long had passed, but so far he was concerned for the other, wondering if they should leave instead. “Do you want to leave? We can leave if you want.” He hugged the other back, giving a small comforting pat on the other’s back.

“huh?” Allen questions, staring the other girl down with an expression that could be best explained as a mix between insulted and confused. He didn’t hit on her, did he? She looked like she would be the kind of girl Allen would hit on and if it wasn’t for her comment he probably would have but… he simply couldn’t remember.

“My pick-up lines are fuckin’ wicked, what are you on about girly? If they sucked so much, how d’you explain them working all the time?”

“huhh?” He said again, even more confused as to what he had done to upset this girl. She was all scoffing and crossed arms and Allen, for the first time ever, had no clue what it was he did. “I don’t get what you’re on about girly, respectful? what?” He crossed his arms as well, standing right in front of her and leaning down a little so he could look straight at her. “Someone got you upset or somethin’?”

Just everything got her upset. Including a certain professor she mistook for the counselor, but we’re not going to talk about that. “Of course you don’t know what that word means,” She huffed. She stared at the man in disbelief, her fist clenching up. “You’re joking right? Do I look like I want you to flirt with me right now?”

The red head Scot stares at the student, and gives a tired sigh. He places the paper he was reviewing down on the table, tapping his pen against the oak desk a few times. He gestures to one of the chairs that isn’t currently being occupied by a box, and massages the bridge of his nose a few time. 

“The answer is no.” He reaches over for his cup of cold coffee and takes one gulp out of it before settling it back down. Good lord, he should start printing the map of the campus and highlight where the counsellor rooms are just to let people know that his expertise are not in giving life guidance or any of those motivational crap advises.  

“This isn’t my field of expertise, but lets be real, you don’t care and either way I am obligated by my job to give you some sort of guidance in whatever your problem is.” With it, he sighs once more - he realise that he’s been doing this a lot lately - and wave his hand, a gesture for the other to expand and explain more on why they don’t want their emotions.

This was the guidance counselor’s office, right? He gestured to the chair so he had to be willing to talk to her. She sat down slowly in the chair across from the desk, clutching her bag close to her torso. “I… mean… like… I feel like… I don’t want to… feel anymore.” She had a feeling this already wasn’t going too well. “There’s too much happening. I don’t want the emotions that come with it all.”

“Welcome to the pain of human existence.” Alastair deadpans over to the other, face evident with lack of care for the other’s feelings. It was the only thing professional he could offer to the other. Emotional support was never his strongest suit, after all, that was all back in the past.

When the other continued, he couldn’t help but restrain himself from facepalming. He maintained a stoic face, giving a few nods here and there to show that he was paying attention to the other. “Generally, I just turn that into spite to power myself in being better.” He gives a small shrug, not sure on what else to say really. Taking in a deep breath he decided to retry again.

“How about rather than trying to run away from it, face it head on. Emotions are bound no matter what, don’t let it control you. Instead, learn to control it.” He gives a small few taps on the desk with his gloved fingers.

“O-oh...” She feels the room get cold and clutches her bag a bit tighter. Time to never share her feelings with anyone else ever again. She wasn’t sure how to respond to him. Annabella looks down and listens to him, his voice sounding a bit farther away now. The advice he tells her isn’t bad, but a lot more harsher then she expected. She takes a deep breath before speaking again, “W-well, I’m... not exactly trying to better myself... not right now, at least. I just... want to feel better. Not... be better.” Her voice is a bit quieter now, trying to pick her words a bit more carefully. “A-and, I’ve been trying that... I think. The emotions are... there all the time, and trying to control them is just... hard.”

Annabella managed to get four down when Mat was done, leaving her quite buzz, and she was about to grab another one before Mat took her hand and pulled her to the dance floor. She didn’t mind though. This was what she came for. She giggled at his silly smile, and her laughter grew louder as he spun her around. The loud, upbeat music made Annabella want to move her hips, and that’s what she did, still holding onto Mat’s hand tightly. A big smile shown on her face, as she absentmindedly got closer to her dance partner.

Mathias was having the time of his life, well almost everyday he was. But today was different, he felt free from the cages, as if he manage to find that small solace that distant himself away from everything. The music weren’t bad, but he paid no attention to it, everything was a blur at most, as if he was someone sitting at a movie and watching it all roll by past him. So he didn’t notice the closing distance of the other, just moving to the beat of the music, as if it was flowing through his vein and he was one with it. Words were just foreign sounds, only the sound of his beating heart and the physical touch of Anna’s hand grounding him, reminding him of his reality and existence.

She didn’t pay much attention to the tone of his voice. After 24 years you get used to it. “Ooh, so grumpy.” she teased, sitting down on the ground to watch him paint. She smiled slightly at his ‘war paint’. “So cool! I want some. She dipped her finger into some green paint, and drew lines on her cheek, and put a dot on the tip of her nose. “How do I look?”

He watched as she took a spot on the floor. He stuck out his tongue before turning his attention to the wall he was working on. “Hmm?” He looked over towards his twin with this unamusee look upon his face. He was trying his best not crack a smile. “Slap anymore paint on your face and you’d look like Shrek.”

Annabella had gone to Lovi’s apartment to visit before her first class, Klaus telling her Lovi had gone out to work on a mural for a project or something. She walked to where she knew Lovi was probably working, seeing him with a mural that looked closed to finish. She approached with her hands in the pocket of her hoodie. “Hey, Lovi.” She laughed a bit when he got paint on his face. “Hey, so messy.”

When Lovino turned to face the person, when he saw it was his twin sister he gave a quick roll of his eyes. “Hey Anna.” He didn’t mean for his voice to be laced with agitation it was likely due to the lack of sleep and his caffeine levels were almost depleted. “What are you talking about messy, this is my war paint.” He smears another line on the other side of his face to be even. “See.”

Lovino had been working on the mural in front of him for about a couple weeks now. The last of the flat color had been applied during the early morning hours before his first class of the day. He didn’t know why he did that to himself waking before he actually needed to be out of bed was never a good thing fro the Italian but he had a deadline to meet one an instructor told him he likely wasn’t going to achieve.

He was just about to touch his brush to wall once more when he heard footsteps approaching him. “Is there something I can help you with?” He brushed the hair from his face only to get a bit of deep blue paint on his face. “Aw man not again.”

Ah, yes. That time of the year when finals are over and everyone is ready to just say ‘fuck it’ and finally have some fun. Finally, Annabella could forget about the past few months, at least for a little while. She laughed at Mathias’ excited mood to be able to have a few drinks. She should be a responsible adult and not be letting him drink, but that didn’t cross her mind at this time. She grabbed a bottle of beer and popped the cap off before taking a swig. It didn’t taste great to her, but after a little while that wouldn’t matter. She looked over at Mathias, “After a few drinks do you want to dance.”

Mathias eagerly helped himself, masterfully popping the cap off with ease as he chugged it down like it was water. It tasted like shit, horrible even, compared to what he was used to back in Denmark. But he didn’t care, too needy to even complain about the watery shit they called beer. “I’m not much of a dancer.” The Dane replied, already throwing away the empty bottle, quickly reaching for another one. “But, for your sake, I guess I can entertain you a bit.” With a smile, he popped open the cap, as if it was a habit for him and started chugging again. The numbing haziness that started to gather, and the slight bitter aftertaste help ease his nerves. Even with the booming music, Mathias seemed almost drawn into himself with just the beverage in his hand, excluding himself away from the world. Before he knew it, he had already chugged through 6, slowly reaching for a 7.  He would’ve went for it, but the buzz in his head and the itch in his body only urge him no. So instead, he only went to grab Anna’s hand and pull her along with him to the dance floor. “You said you want a dance after a few drinks right?” He gave a small dopey smile, slightly sluggish, but not too inebriated. “Well then, let’s dance!” He giggles and pulls the other around with him, his actions a lot more spontaneous and wild. Behaving like a child with no real goal in mind.
