sorry to say but i never really wanted a rod 2. not bc i didn't love the books or the characters (i did) and not bc i think rod was a bad book (it wasn't, it was actually very fucking god tier) but i do not believe pb could've done it any justice. it would've been a poorly executed diamond grab for them without any real sense of direction or necessity to the plot which was wrapped up for the most part in book 1. would love to be proven wrong tho! but we'll have to see if rod 2 ever comes out of development hell or if they pull an ilitw/ilb.

so i just read the first two chapters of wolf bride and i am really not impressed. i can’t believe this is a vip book?? the design looks bad, the writing isn’t good, and i’m not a fan of how they’re setting up the story at all. like excuse me, the mc has zero choice and no explanation when it comes to what’s happening to her, and the other characters expect her to be okay with it. they don’t even really apologize for anything they did. i didn’t like it and i’m not even sure i’ll keep reading.

I know nothing about wolf bride but now I’m curious what’s so wrong with it

it's the absolute worst and most violently misogynistic aspects of werewolf/abo tropes one might expect from a story like this. basically the mc of the series comes back to her mom's hometown searching for answers because all she knows about it is that her mother fled it when she was a teenager and refused to talk about it ever again while she was growing up. on her first day there, she gets kidnapped and forced to participate in this ritual that bonds her with the male love interest, all whilst physically fighting back and trying to get anyone to tell her what's going on. literally, she's grabbed from a local bar in broad daylight and has to be dragged out and put into a van, and none of the patrons or the "new friend" she meets do anything to try to help her. afterwards, the male li and all the side characters excuse what they did as "we didn't know you didn't understand what was going on, we thought you were pretending to be afraid on purpose".

it's all so fucked up i hope everyone in the story that isn't mc and the female li dies fr.
