Annalise was born and raised in a small town in Colorado to her parents Walter and Sora Simon. She was the third of four children, all expected to follow in their parents path of greatness. Walter Simon was the Mayor of her small hometown, always in the spotlight and always ensuring that his family remained in a favorable way around the town. Her mother Sora Simon, a women who had migrated to the United States from Korea with her parents as a young child defied all odds and landed herself in a respectable position as a lawyer, the youngest and best in her firm. Both intelligent and highly respected members of society expected their children to follow a similar path. It was expected so much so that their childrenâs lives were decided for them the moment that they started to walk.Â
Annalise went with the flow, up until her freshman year in high school when she had started to crave something different. She was quick to become the outcast in her family. The first time she strayed from the path of her predetermined life was in her freshman drama class when she had developed a crush on her classmate that sat beside her... only thing being that this crush, well it had been another girl and not a boy. She had shrugged it off at first but as her feelings grew so did her confusion. After a year of hiding it she finally came out to her parents who were less than impressed. Her father gave her an ultimatum, she could either ditch this âfazeâ of her life and start dating an approved guy or she could get out. With no where else to go she remained in the closet, she figured it couldnât be that hard seeing as she was just as into guys as she was girls. However as years passed she found it harder and harder to keep this part of her hidden, despite her parents arranging a marriage between her and a family friend at the age of twenty-one. Although she wasnât happy with the arrangement she followed through on it because what other choice did she really have?
By the age of twenty-two she was married and in law school, the daunting future looming ahead of her. She woke up one morning, realizing that she wasnât happy and decided to leave. She packed a bag and left in the night without a single word to her family or her husband, jumping on a bus and riding it until its very last stop, which happened to be Los Angeles California.
It was in California that she met a girl by the name of Ophelia. A women who to this day Annalise would categorize as the love of her life. They had met in cafĂ© and had clicked instantly. Ophelia had taken her in and showed her how to live without worrying about what others thought. Annalise, swept up in her knew lifestyle was on cloud nine. She felt like nothing could go wrong. which was exactly when something did. Ophelia had forgotten to mention one key thing before Annalise had fallen helplessly in love with her... she was dying of cancer. Annalise, refusing to accept such a thing had started to research different medical procedures that they could try, all of which Ophelia refused, she wanted to die the way that she had lived, not trapped in a hospital room being pumped full of drugs that more than likely wouldnât do anything to improve her situation. So Annalise decided to look into alternative treatments, which was when she had found cannabis and its many benefits. She would cook and bake cannabis infused foods and did her research on the best strains for Opheliaâs situation.Â
Ophelia passed away in September nearly three and a half years after they had met, leaving everything to Annalise because she was the only family that she had. Annalise had refused to allow the womenâs death to break her and instead lived on how she would have wanted her to. Opheliaâs death had prompted Annalise to want to open a dispensary she wanted to educate and help people who might have been in a similar situation to Ophelia. She found herself moving across the country to a small town called Port Whitley where for a year she struggled and fought to open up her own little dispensary .
