Matthieu loved the restaurant. They loved the hubbub of it all, the chattering voices, the clanking of silverware, and even the heat in the kitchen could be relatively enjoyable on the right kind of night. Because it all paid off in them getting to do what they loved, to feed people and watch people enjoy and indulge in what they had made. It really was thrilling for them.
But Mattie also loved the nights they weren’t working at the restaurant. Here’s the thing, Mattie had never planned to get involved in criminal activity but once they were in it, they were in it, and damn, if there wasn’t something exciting about the rush of it all.
There’s nothing big happening, and if there was, Jada would be right alongside him, but there is a meeting and by request, they had asked them to come alone. He hates the idea of it, but if it’s for the betterment of the organization in the long run, they know Jada will understand.
Mattie gives her an apologetic look when she questions him, and then shrugs, fidgeting with the buttons on their suit jacket. “I had a meeting with an…investor,” they try to frame it as something that isn’t legal in the restaurant, but the look they give her is letting her know what kind of investor it is. Last minute and he’s a bit of a pompous asshole, but I’d like to run some ideas by you if you have the time?”
as much as jada was thrilled to have moved away and actually started to live a life she wanted when mattie had said they were going to juniper.. she had always wanted just a little more. not that she wasn't happy with what she had. it was a leap forward from what she had back in new york. though it didn't stop her from craving a bigger business..and not the legal kind. reagardless she owed a lot to mattie and would do anything that they had always her to.
at least her complaints were never to their face. she didn't want them to think she wasnt grateful for what had been built here in juniper and they did a great job building here. she had felt that the waters had been running just a little dry though lately. she was craving to dig into some kind of trouble and get that rush again.
the woman had to admit she was a little disappointed when she had heard mattie had a meeting without her. though she knew that she wouldnt be invited to all the meetings. she had her strength and weaknesses and she was sure the other knew when to bring her along and when not to. she nodded. "sure, yeah i wasn't really doing anything too important. shall we move this to your office?" she asked
