The rain is watering my garden so I found time for a walk and to bake. (at Bowen Island, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1cT57_he-S1V0iq2rm5zOkdzHUgYFMZHhXkjI0/?igshid=do48zxptx6du
A stroll along Robson Street - 47 Years Later
1831 Robson Street, our first address in Canada, 8th floor, with a view over Vancouver’s Coal Harbour, Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains, with the highest building the Bayshore Inn! Now it’s an old, small high-rise, the view likely obscured by much higher glass towers. It was a perfect place to start making Canada our home. There was the Barber, second hand book store, delicatessen and just around the corner King George School where we attended evening ESL classes together with immigrants from Europe and Asia. Stanley Park was a couple of blocks away and we walked to work downtown. Oh, and back then, it was Robson “Straße”, with German restaurants and delicatessen shops as well as “European News”, where you could buy European newspapers and magazines.
One of the few untamed places around the corner of our old apartment, next to an old house.
Old buildings get demolished to make room for something newer and bigger. A window full of customers’ notes remains and a sign where to reach the business owners who have gone elsewhere.
The remaining ruins of the recently demolished Sheraton Landmark, a multi story hotel with the first revolving restaurant in Vancouver that was built in 1976.
Finally, I ate lunch from Täyybeh’s food truck at Robson Square.
And then, looking for a washroom, I discovered one of the new public washrooms just steps from Robson Square, a first for me. It was all very straight forward, but eerie at the same time. The door opens and closes automatically at the push of a button and you have exactly 12 minutes before the whole inside gets washed down (with a two minute warning, so you have time to escape!). That made me slightly nervous and I hurried to get out of there. Clean and efficient, but definitely not a place to hang out :)
Finishing the year with a hike up Dorman Point on a glorious, sunny day. (at Dorman Point) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsB7dcZheD5ctFbIeUtpxvbTsrWXRsP95sl_Qw0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=x27bg4v2aqla

First foray into the city in 2018, adding another car to the perpetual overloads on the good old Bowen Queen. (at Horseshoe Bay West Vancouver)
A last hike of the year to my favourite lookout.

Finally, our plum tree is in bloom. (at Seven Hills Bed and Breakfast)
Ahh, one sunny day in March after a stretch of 26 days of precipitation. (at Bowen Island, British Columbia)
Going digital. Culling papers and using Evernote's camera feature to store recipes. Long live the cloud :) (at Seven Hills Bed and Breakfast)
