Working at the Inn
Etienne laughed lightly at Anne’s silly reference to the “milkshake” song as he rolled his cleaning cart back to the storage area. He nodded along to next her words and said, “I too look forward to a break! I must admit that cleaning usually wears me out quite a bit. As you can probably tell, I’m more of a paper-work kind of guy.” This statement was probably the truest thing he had said to the poor girl all morning, for Etienne hated cleaning. Growing up, he had very little of it to do at his family home; only when he was away at boarding school and university did he really have to pick up after himself. He always made sure that what he did clean was neat and perfect, however. After all, he needed to appear flawless.
This was why his house in Clover Town, though small, was probably one of the cleanest places around the neighborhood. He never left plates around on tables, nor mugs on desks, nor loose papers on his bed. Everything was organized and in the right place, and should anybody come over for an impromptu visit, they would only see tidiness. Etienne’s sparkling clean reputation would remain untarnished.
“Let us go outside into the sunshine, shall we? I think the I’ve had enough of the stuffiness indoors.” Etienne led the way out of one of the inn’s side doors, holding it open for his companion to pass through. “We’ve never had a meal together, have we? What a shame, Anne! I do look forward to this one.” The beam that spread on his face could’ve blinded a man.
Anne simply grinned at his statement, "You seem to be the type, too." She normally took the cleaning jobs, for reasons she couldn't figure out (she must really have a bad case of luck or something), and seeing Etienne clean in the hotel was a rarity in itself. Ironically, Anne didn't clean her house all too often -- piles of unwashed clothing everywhere in her room, papers all over the floor... the only clean part of her house was the bathroom! She nodded in agreement on going outside, very much wishing to leave the hotel and go somewhere more... public so she could feel more at ease and hopefully not have another 'elevator' moment ever again. She followed Etienne, nodding her head in silent thanks for opening the door, and with clasped hands behind her back whirled around to wait for him to walk outside as well, starting to walk to the direction of the cafe as soon as he seemed to be ready. Hearing his remark caused her to tilt her head, surprised to find that he was correct! Anne has shared lunches with Kai at times, normally when she brought sweets and doughnuts from the bakery and knew Kai had a sweet-tooth so she often shared, but she never did the same with Etienne... "You're right!" She returned his (she silently thought rather charming) smile with a shy one of her own, ducking her head to try and stop her face's insistence on flushing every single second. "I don't really see you out of work that often, huh? What do you normally do around when you're not working anyway?"
