Episode 9 of TADC and the ending I thought we would get
I don't really post much here and least of all about this fandom, but I watched the final episide yesterday and I can't help but think of an ending that I had believed would be the final twist to all of it.
I do enjoy the ending and I like how Caine finally get to be appriciated, but during the scene where Caine made his way towards the folders to get each persons name, I thought things would take a way darker turn.
At 39:17 he said "Did I ruin this? Again?", which (I know now) was probably regarding his previous mishaps considering the games he made for them and the whole conflict that arouse from that. But before that, I thought this would imply that this wasn't the first time the characters went through everything we have witnessed.
The scene before he reached the file containing all their information was all about AI learning, about how AI solves problems by trying out until something works and adapting its methods. My take from that was that this was a forshaddowing for what would be (which I thought) the really dark ending of this series.
I figured that, since the brainscans were files Caine seemed to be able to interact with, he would also have the capability to directly reset them and manipulate them, meaning that he would reset the whole world and start over once more. So, the ending would be basically just how the series started, with the first person entering the circus, mind wiped and having forgotten everything that went down, only to be greeted by Caine.
The implication from that would be that the plot we witnessed was just the latest of a never ending amount of loops as the characters going through this whole hell over and over and over again while Caine slowly learns and gets better at handling the fragile human mind. Each time he fails (all characters are abstracted or with him almost being deleted this time), he would just reset everything completely, wipe all memory and start over once more. He would change things, switch up the order of how the characters join the circus and try to figure out what criteria he need to meet in order for all of them to "stay alive" and happy with him.
It would be an incredibly dark ending, showing us that they are trapped in an endless loop of this, each one of them having died millions of times as the AI learns how to keep them alive, failing, and then trying again. It would make sense considering that Caine, as an AI, is nothing but a machine who, in the end, only mimics human behavior, which means that his need to adapt and learn would outweigh the ethics regarding this whole thing we would consider "mercy killing" by just deactivating the files and not letting them run.
I felt like this ending would be rather dystopian yet very on point for the current way of things regarding AI and its consequences for humanity as a whole. With scientist scanning the brain of a fly and putting it in a computer, I figured that this alternative ending could play out as a wake up call for us, a warning of what suffering could occur if we were to proceed with out studies.
I just wanted to, idk, vomit all my thought into this post and post it somewhere, just to have it written down. I would've certainly enjoyed this ending, so maybe there are others who find interest in this dystopian approach as well lol.
Anyway, thanks for reading my yapping haha.

After reading chapter 8, I felt like hux would do good with a resistance patented tarine tea infusion / organic tea defib.
consider this: Brendol as abusive as always BUT completely supporting Armitage's coming out because he wants him to know that he's not a homophobe, he just hates Armitage.
"I want you to know I'd hate you no matter who you loved."
"Your orientation doesn't disappoint me. You do."
"Be proud of your sexuality and nothing else."
Wanted to practice line-art with the sketches from before but it escalated.
