The Sims 4 Base Game Legacy Challenge
It was suggested that I create base game substitutions for those who may not own every pack used in The Packs Based Legacy Challenge. I loved the idea so much that I created an entirely base game friendly version of the challenge. Each challenge can be completed individually or used interchangeably to create the perfect challenge that works for you.
Generation 1: The Gloomy Painter
(Can be subbed in for Generation 1: Dream Home Decorator in The Packs Based Challenge)
Growing up, you never understood how others just knew what they wanted to be when they were older. How could anyone, in a world of possibilities, just know? Know enough to graduate high school, attend college, and apply for that one specific career they knew would make them happy for the rest of their lives? I mean, you certainly didn’t.
Luckily for you though, as you were debating on whether you would attend college to please your parents or take that year off to try and “find yourself” you receive notice that you inherited a house in Willow Creek by your great-great-aunt. It wasn’t long after high school graduation that you were saying goodbye to your old life and headed off to Willow Creek. Only to discover the house was in less-than-ideal conditions.
Over the next several years, you take up freelance painting jobs as you continue to search for something to entice you. Until one day your friend suggests you become a painter professionally after noticing how you light up when discussing the freelance painting gigs you have completed. And suddenly, everything clicks.
Aspiration(s): Friend of the World – you are starting over and aspire to make many new friends
Traits: Gloomy, Creative, and a trait of your choosing
Goals: Create a young adult sim in CAS and move them into a fixer upper house in Willow Creek (you can build this house or download one from the gallery – use free real estate cheat to afford it, if necessary). Once your sim is moved in, cheat their household funds down to $600. You never had a job in high school because your parents wanted you to focus on your studies. And when you made the decision not to go to college, they cut you off completely leaving you with only the tiny amount of birthday cash you accumulated over your childhood. You must make friends with at least one sim from the welcome wagon as they will become the friend that suggests you go all in and join the painter career professionally in the future. Eventually fall in love and get married. Produce at least one heir.
Take as many freelance jobs as needed to fully remodel one room in your new home before joining the painter career (optional).
Cannot cheat money beside initial move in.
Must fully renovate inherited house over your sims lifetime and never move out.
Generation 2: The Clumsy Writer
(Can be subbed in for Generation 2: Paranormal/Vampires in The Packs Based Challenge)
You were raised by loving parents in a beautiful home. You saw how much pride your mother (or father) had for the house they turned into a home and wanted to feel that same sense of joy for your own home, so you purchase a fixer upper when you move out. You soon discover something about your house is off. As you notice you are the house on the block people tend to stray away from. You begin to imagine a million different possibilities as to why this is and dedicate your life to writing mystery novels based off your conspiracy theories.
Aspiration(s): Best Selling Author
Traits: Perfectionist, Clumsy, and a trait of your choosing
Goals: Must purchase a fixer upper house, preferably one that looks abandoned upon aging into young adulthood. Again, you may cheat to purchase this house (the house should be a steal as it has sat on the market for some time now) OR you can use the Simcity Loans mod and take out a loan for this house as an investment into your future (and a little extra challenge). You have always wanted to be a writer, but you never quite found the words, so you become a freelance writer allowing clients to dictate what you write. Once you have completed at least two jobs in the freelance writing career, you quit your job to become a writer full time as you finally have found your muse, your new home. Like the previous generation, you raise your child(ren) in the house you have made into a home.
Your new home must have the Private Dwelling lot trait.
Over the course of your life remodel your home and never move out, just as your parents before you.
You may not hire a maid service or repairman as no one would willingly come to your home.
Limit the number of guests you have over for the same reason.
Become a freelance writer and complete at least two jobs before switching to writer career.

Complete Best Selling Author aspiration.
Master the writing skill.
Generation 3: The Geeky Astronaut
(Can be subbed in for Generation 3: Snowy Escape in The Packs Based Challenge)
Being raised in a “haunted” house (with a parent who was in debt almost their entire life – if you go down that route), was not ideal. You loved your parents, but you could not wait to get away, far, far away. You move to Oasis Springs and buy a house you can afford on your own. You take a job as an astronaut; after all, how much further away can you get than space. However, your life isn’t all work, how could it be when there is so much to explore? You take up collecting as a hobby on your time off and make it a point to go out exploring at least once a week thus leading to your discovery of an abandoned mine.
Aspiration(s): The Curator
Traits: Geek, Active, and Hates Children
Goals: After growing up in a ‘haunted’ house, you longed for a sense of normalcy. You did not feel that was accomplishable living anywhere near your parents, so you moved to the desert. You never got over the resentment you had for your parents raising you in a terrifying home where you never felt safe which led to not wanting children of your own as you never wanted to be like them… unfortunately, birth control isn’t 100% accurate. You take a job as an astronaut because you cannot get any further away from your parents than space. You spend your free time exploring the desert and working on your collections.
Complete Astronaut career – either branch.
Complete The Curator aspiration.
Complete at least 2 collections.
Master handiness and athletic skills.
After maxing your handiness skill, explore the abandoned mine in Oasis Springs, Forgotten Grotto.
Only have one child your entire life “by accident”.
Take a vacation to Willow Creek or Newcrest to collect from another world at least once, maybe even have your accidental pregnancy on vacation. Vacations are about having ‘fun’ after all.
Generation 4: The Erratic Goofball
(Can be subbed in for Generation 4: Strangerville in The Packs Based Challenge)
Your parent was a workaholic, and when they weren’t at the office, they were too busy off exploring (or on a sporting adventure, if you have Snowy Escape) to notice you. It wasn’t that your parent didn’t love you, they just weren’t very maternal (or paternal). This left you alone most of the time, often contemplating life itself and why you had a parent that would prefer not to be there for you the way they should have been. As a child, you become your own best friend and begin talking to yourself. And when you become a teen, you decide the only way to gain your parents attention is to cause chaos, so they have no choice but to acknowledge you.
Aspiration(s): Chief of Mischief
Traits: Erratic, Loner, and Goofball
Goals: During your childhood you begin to talk with yourself as a coping mechanism for your loneliness before opting for a life of mischief. You join the criminal career as a young adult because surely, your parents would notice you as a Crime Boss, everyone would notice you.
Master mischief and charisma skills. All that talking with yourself really boosted your charisma.
Complete the Chief of Mischief aspiration.
Complete Criminal career – Boss branch.
Optional: Complete the Villainous Valentine aspiration.
Over the years you’ve learned to really embrace your passion for mischief and as you never quite got over your parental issues; you take joy in wrecking marriages. Your parents really did a number on you.
Generation 5: The Hot-Headed Gardener
(Can be subbed in for Generation 5: Eco Lifestyle in The Packs Based Challenge)
Your parent was a little erratic and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. You are just as ridiculous as the person who raised you, just in a different way. While your parent was focused on making the world a more dangerous place, you aspire to make the world a better place the best way you know how. You dedicate your life to protecting the world from criminals like your parent by becoming a secret agent. You are also big on recycling, reusing, and living off the grid. Who needs electricity anyway?
Aspiration(s): Freelance Botanist
Traits: Good, Self-Assured, and Hot-Headed
Goals: When you become a young adult, you move to Newcrest where you have created a 12 x 4 completely empty container home (use whatever wallpaper/flooring you have to best replicate one). Then cheat your household funds to zero (because who doesn’t love a good rags to riches?) The idea is that you were overly certain you didn’t need material positions to bring you joy so you moved out with nothing and found an abandoned shipping container you would seek shelter in. You aspire to change the world for the better.
New home must have the off-the-grid lot trait.
Complete the Secret Agent career – Diamond Agent branch.
Master logic and gardening skills.
Must have a well-maintained garden.
Complete Freelance Botanist aspiration.
Generation 6: The Ambitious Entrepreneur
(Can be subbed in for Generation 6: Tiny Living and Discover University in The Packs Based Challenge)
As a child, you were not a fan of your parent’s lifestyle. And your grandparent being a famous crime boss… You just needed out. You knew at a young age the only way to accomplish this was to work hard and land a good job. As a teenager you took on a part time job to help save up for your first home, however, once you reached the top of your career, you felt like you were no longer being challenged and switched jobs.
Aspiration(s): Renaissance Sim
Traits: Ambitious, Good, and Bookworm
Goals: After moving out, you realize that while your parent may have been a little overboard with the whole eco living thing, they did have a point. You decide to build a micro home for yourself to help the environment in your own way; however, as time goes on and your family grows, you build on to your home.
Must reach level 3 of two part time jobs before moving out of your parent’s home.
Reach the top of the Tech Guru career – Start-up Entrepreneur branch.
Complete the Renaissance Sim aspiration.
Master charisma and programming skills.
Must live in a 32-tile home after moving out of your parent’s home. You may add on to it over your sim’s lifetime; however, it must never be more than 100 tiles big.
Generation 7: The Outdoorsy Photographer
(Can be subbed in for Generation 7: Realm of Magic and Moschino Stuff in The Packs Based Challenge)
Being raised in a tiny home really helped keep things in perspective for you. You grew up appreciating everything the world had to offer and enjoy taking photos of nature to preserve its beauty forever. You were close with your grandparent and their love of the environment really had an impact on you.
Aspiration(s): Angling Ace
Traits: Ambitious, Loves the Outdoors, and a trait of your choosing
Goals: You take up photography as a teenager with an interest in wildlife photos and fishing. You hear Willow Creek has the most beautiful scenery and excellent fishing spots, so you move there. While out fishing by Foundry Cove one day, you discover a mysterious tree that appears to have a portal. After much debate with yourself, you make the decision to check out this portal and discover the beautiful Sylvian Glade. You can’t help but feel that finding this portal was your destiny and visit there often.
Master photography and fishing skills.
Become a freelance digital artist.
Complete the Angling Ace aspiration.
Generation 8: The Lazy Party Animal
(Can be subbed in for Generation 8: Island Living and Get Together in The Packs Based Challenge)
Your parent loved nature and so did you, only, you wanted the bask in the sunlight and relax in the pool type of nature. You wanted to be surrounded by people and live life to the fullest without any real responsibilities weighing you down.
Aspiration(s): Party Animal
Traits: Cheerful, Lazy, and Outgoing
Goals: You only have one real goal in life, and that is to live a life of leisure. You wish for nothing more than to relax by the pool and throw the biggest parties. After all, what point is there in living a life you don’t enjoy?
Master the Style Influencer career – Trend Setter branch.
Must own a pool with a lounge float and relax in it often.
Dedicate your life to living every day to its fullest.
Complete the Party Animal aspiration.
Master charisma and mixology skills.
Fall madly in love with someone you meet at a party, get married, and have at least one child.
Generation 9: The Childish Soulmate
(Can be subbed in for Generation 9: Seasons, Laundry Day, Cats & Dogs, Parenthood, My First Pet, Toddlers, Kids Room, Backyard, Movie Hangout, Cool Kitchen, Bowling, and Spooky Stuff Packs in The Packs Based Challenge)
You had a wonderful childhood. Your parents were so caring and so in love that it inspired you. For as long as you could remember, you dreamed of having the perfect wedding, to the perfect person, and raising a large happy family. You aspire to own land big enough to build a beautiful family home for your future children with plenty of outdoor space for them to play without the worries of city traffic nearby.
Aspiration(s): Soulmate, Successful Lineage, and Big Happy Family
Traits: Family-Oriented, Childish, and Neat (or a trait of your choosing)
Goals:
Must celebrate every major holiday (if you have seasons) and every birthday.
After your first child becomes a toddler, dedicate one night a week to family movie night (if you don’t have movie hangout stuff, just have everyone watch tv together).
Complete all three aspirations, you can do it.
Must have 4 children minimum.
Have a bimonthly park day with the whole family, you really value family bonding.
Generation 10: The Materialistic Romantic
(Can be subbed in for Generation 10: Get Famous, Spa Day, Fitness, Vintage Glamour, Romantic Garden, Perfect Patio, and Luxury Party in The Packs Based Challenge)
Your parents loved you, that was obvious. But did they love you as an individual or as one of the herd? You had to share everything with your siblings, and watched your parents live modestly with no extra cash to treat themselves. And though, that never seemed to bother them, you could not imagine dedicating your entire life to raising a family. You wanted to be the center of attention for once, you never wanted to be forced to share anything ever again, you wanted to be famous.
Aspiration(s): Mansion Baron and Serial Romantic
Traits: Snob, Jealous, and Materialistic
Goals:
Complete both aspirations.
Hire a maid once you can afford it.
Reach level 10 in the Entertainment career – Musician branch.
Once you are considered a serious musician, throw the most lavish and luxurious parties.
Keep Zen by mastering the fitness skill and visit the gym regularly, after all, you deserve it.
You date around but never marry, cannot risk anyone stealing your spotlight.
Have one child with one of your many lovers (when you are ready, try for baby with at least two lovers on the same day and let the father (or mother) of your child be a surprise).
