can we please stop putting so much time, resources and money into the futile attempt to make the internet a safe space for kids. i've said it before i'll say it again it's just like trying to make the entire world a safe space for children. it is impossible. it is never going to happen. it's up to parents to keep their kids off of the internet or heavily monitor what they do online. the ridiculous censorship is bad enough especially considering everything they censor online a child could easily hear out in the world. god forbid a child sees the word fuck typed out when they literally hear their parents and their parents friends say fuck all the time. and parents need to not rely on a social media ban to actually keep their kids offline. come on, you remember being a kid. there will be ways around it, there always are. do i wish i had been kept off of social media when i was younger? hell fucking yes dude, social media made my life hell. but the solution is not to require photo ID to sign up to websites that get hacked all the time. the solution is for parents to pay attention and be diligent and monitor everything their kids do online if they're letting them be online.

maybe maturing means realizing that sequels aren't always a bad thing. at this point i honestly don't care if it seems like a director is "milking" a franchise as long as we're getting good movies out of it. "oh nooo they're talking about making a prequel to hereditary" ok... so if you don't want to watch it don't watch it. me personally i will be sat in that theatre

the fact that AA/NA, an abstinence-only, deeply religious, non evidence supported model based off writings from the 1930s, is seen as the first, only, and mandatory form of treatment for problematic/dangerous drug use is insane and ridiculous and i hate it and i hate how normalized and institutionalized AA is. people have to choose between AA or jail, AA or not having custody of their kids, AA or not getting welfare it's embarassing that the war on drugs and drug use has gone on this long with so much evidence against it

AA was the first organized attempt to actually treat addiction. It works for a small percentage of people.

However, it's almost 100 years old, and there are other treatments out there that work better. We aren't using 100 year old medicines for cancer, or pneumonia, or even arthritis, so why is the court MANDATING 100 year old treatments for addiction? (Why aren't there enough spaces in modern treatment facilities also?)

In addition, the abstinence model is very dangerous for opioid addiction, since users of drugs such as heroin are very likely to suffer a potentially fatal overdose when they relapse after detox, as most do.

I was so pissed off by friends and family criticizing my soap choice that, for half a year, I did an experiment where I washed one hand with Palmolive and one with handsoap, to prove that it didn't make your skin any rougher. and do you know what the result is? it does make your skin rougher. and now I'm even more pissed off.
