"he would not fucking say that" but about injuries. he would not fucking recover that quickly. those scars would not fucking heal like that. he would not be fucking able bodied after that. he would not be fully lucid after that.
This AND the opposite: That won't do that to anybody. Yeah, that's actually an easy fix. No, really, give me 3 days in hospital with that and we can fix that. There is a pill for that. We can manage that. Dude, yeah, that one will suck for a while but actually there is a good chance they will heal well enough. Yeah that one will be painful but we actually have a really good pain management for that one AND with specialist care they can have a relatively normal life. We usually don't have to take off the hand/leg/arm because of this. Actually we can fix that if they get to an hospital fast enough, we can literally re-attach that leg if it was sliced cleanly...!

one of the biggest mistakes of the previous 2010s ish era of le Wokeisme was giving legitimacy and air to the sentiment that feelings of Fear and Discomfort were equivalent to actual endangerment and especially Violence. Not just because that is wrong and makes everyone stupider for believing it, but because it is rhetorically very useful for fascists. especially in their recruitment of women
it started from a place of legitimising trauma, but one of the issues with trauma responses is that they, almost by definition, fuck up your ability to rationally evaluate your actual threat level, and you couldn't point that out without being accused of de-legitimising their lived experience.
Wait wait wait.
I thought we made fun of MRAs because they are misguided and misogynistic for believing that feminism is against their interests and they need a movement apart from it. I thought we made fun of them for not understanding that feminism is in favor of men's liberation from the oppressive patriarchal binary as much as women's.
But some of you are actually making fun of MRAs because you think men have no problems to complain about, and feminism ISN'T for men, because they don't need anything, and the patriarchy isn't the enemy, men are?
Oooh I don't think we've been laughing at the same thing. You have lost the plot.
I thought we made fun of people who said "not all men" in response to women discussing sexism because while they are correct that not all men [insert bad behavior here], saying so in certain conversations is just a defensive knee jerk reaction that distracts from the point.
But some of you are actually making fun of any men who ask to be taken seriously and have their needs met and issues heard, even though they aren't talking over women? Some of you are making fun of marginalized men for talking about the experiences at their unique intersections of identities and asking for justice because you actually DO think "all men [insert bad behavior here]?"
Oooooh you are failing feminism 101. You do not understand what the patriarchy even is. You do not understand where its power comes from, who benefits from it, and who is harmed by it. You have not progressed beyond "cooties" level discourse. I am not laughing with you.
This is why you sound like a clown if you call transmasculine people talking about their issues "TMRAs." If you hear men discussing the ways they are harmed by the existing system and the only thing you can think of is obnoxious MRAs, you're telling on yourself. You're broadcasting the fact that you haven't spent enough time engaging with broad feminist viewpoints to know that men's liberation ideas (NOT the same as MRA) are a part of feminism and have been for a long time.
This is why you sound like a clown if you say "trans men who want feminism to be for them are misgendering themselves" and "trans men benefit from the patriarchy because all men benefit from the patriarchy" and "trans men experience no unique injustices because misandry isn't a systemic axis of oppression" and "trans men have male privilege so they can't be oppressed."
Because even if you take "trans" out of these statements, they're still incorrect. Feminism is for people of all genders. Men can be harmed by the patriarchy. The ways in which men are harmed by the patriarchy are different from the ways others are harmed by the patriarchy. Having certain "privileges" in certain contexts doesn't negate the harm of a rigid social structure that punishes nonconformity.
Men can oppose the patriarchy because they want justice for others AND for themselves. There's nothing wrong with that. Giving them shit for talking about that is NOT helping take down the patriarchy.
The patriarchy is not a war of men against women where men are given all the advantages. That's not what feminism is up against.
The patriarchy is a system where ALL people have rigid roles imposed upon them. All else being equal, certain advantages are more likely to be given to men (or masculine people, or people AMAB, or people with male sex characteristics, depending on CONTEXT). But all else is RARELY equal and even when it is, the range of experiences is vast, and the system is rigged against almost everyone.
Because the goal most individuals have, and the right all individuals deserve, is to be themselves, and to do so by choice. And no matter who you are, the patriarchy stands in opposition to this goal. It tells you who you're allowed to be, who you're not allowed to be, what you're allowed to do, and what others are allowed to do to you. This is an injustice for people of all genders.
We're ALL trapped. This system can only be dismantled if we understand the WHOLE thing. Which means we need to listen to everyone when they talk about the harms the system is causing them, from where THEY'RE stuck in it.
How are you going to escape the torture mansion if you don't understand vast swathes of it because you've mistaken your brother for the enemy and closed your ears to him? He's shouting from the torture chamber next to yours, trying to tell you the layout of the room he sees so you can plan your escape together, and you're refusing to listen because he's been given more food and water than you? How do you not see that this attitude is only to the benefit of the torture mansion, not its victims?

For my fellow people-not-used-to-the-FUCKING-heat:
Some tips:
DRINK A LOT. Seriously, don't wait until you are thirsty or get a headache. Please. Drink. Have a bottle of something always close to you and take sips if you don't like big gulps but DRINK A LOT MORE THAN USUAL PLEASE
Don't drink just water. you are losing a lot of salts and you NEED those. My personal recommendation: Make a black tea but let it steep for only like 10-30s. NOT MORE. Add some citrus or lime juice. Add some fresh mint if you have some. Add some honey or sugar if you like it more sweet. maybe a pinch of salt just to give it a little kick. Put some ice in it.
Stay in the shade. PLEASE. Nothing is so important out there that you should be out in the DEATHLY LASER at 40+°C. Stay inside if possible.
Sunscreen, the higher the count the better. Don't bother with anything under 50.
IF YOU HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE: long, loose clothes, sunhat, sunglasses, cover your body with something that protects you.
Put some half-filled waterbottles into the freezer. put the frozen waterbottles in front of a ventilator for some homemade AC. Think of your pets too!
If you have these rescue-foils, put them on the outside of your windows to shield from the sunlight. Newspaper-Paper or aluminum foil is possible too.
REST during the heat-times. You won't be able to do anything useful anyway like that.
TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR especially if you take any medication that influences your circulation system.
Be there for each other. Keep an eye on each other.
And remember this summer when election time comes around.
which one of u was going to tell me that tea tastes different if u put it in hot water?
y- you were putting it in cold water?????
Radish. Answer the question radish.
yeah??? i thought for like. 5 years that ppl just put it in hot water 2 speed up the tea-ification process didn’t realize there was an actual reason
You dont have the patience to microwave water for 3 minutes???
[ID: Tags reading “u think i have the patience to boil water wtf ?????” /End ID]
why are you. putting it in the microwave to boil it
Do you think I have the patience to boil water on the stove
Its takes less than a minute
Bestie is ur stovetop powered by the fucking sun
How long does it take you to boil a cup of water on the stove
Like seven minutes
Just stick the mug on top of the stove on medium heat n it boils in like two minutes… less than that is u use a saucepan…
Crying you’re putting the whole mug on the stove ???? On medium heat???? Ur stove is enchanted
Every single person in this post is a fucking lunatic
Yet another post that reads like four shakespeare characters who come out in the middle of the play to talk about something completely unrelated for comic relief
(Enter RADISHN’T, MOTHMAN MISATO, BOIMG FROG and CATS'N RAINCOATS, stage left. They are having a HEATED DISCUSSION.)
RADISHN’T: Prithee, which one of you had planned to tell
Of diff'rent flavours gained by simple act
Of brewing tea with water hot, not cold?
MOTHMAN: Egad! you poured the water cold? Wherefore?!
FROG: An answer from you, Radish, I must beg.
RADISHN’T: Indeed I did, dear friends - why does this shock?
Without the guide of others I assumed
That heat was merely added for the sake
Of expediting this solution’s brewing!
Half a decade I have spent, or more,
Not questioning this worldview I had made.
In fact, I am myself a bit surprised
That you might think that I, your dearest friend,
Might have a patience of sufficient stock
To wait until a pot of water boils.
FROG: Three minutes overtaxes patience so?
The microwave will beep when it is done!
CATS'N: My friend, this answer vexes me the more!
Can it be true that thou dost boil by nuke?!
FROG: Are you in turn, my friend, so shocked to know
That I have not the patience, like our Root,
To boil upon the stove our favour’d drink?
CATS'N: It takes less than a minute!
FROG: On what plate?
Perhaps your dinner cooks atop the sun?
CATS'N: How long can take your stove to fill the task
Of boiling but a single cup alone?
FROG: In minutes?
CATS'N: Yes!
FROG: I counted seven, once.
CATS'N: Perhaps you ought to have your timepiece checked!
If on a middle heat you place the cup
You soon will have the scalding drink you crave.
Two minutes, in a mug upon the plate
Or even less, if you should have a pot.
FROG: You cause me tears - is this how thou dost live?
You place upon the iron stove a mug?
A mug, ceramic, filled with water cold?
How do these flames, though medium in height,
Not shatter like a glass this fragile thing?
Surely, then, your kitchen is bewitched
With magicks far beyond the mortal ken!
(The FOUR realise they have wandered into the THRONE ROOM. The ROYAL COURT watches with fascination.)
KING: Ev'ry single person in this group must be a fucking lunatic, it seems.
I’m sorry but the THOUGHT that has been put into this, I actually CAN’T—
The fact that nearly every line is so metrically considered- near perfect iambic pentameter witb the occasional trochee for emphasis, but usually retaining a strong sense of rhythm nonetheless. And then the king comes in at the end, so wound in his disbelief that his response is reduced to prose.
And the even better thing about this is how easy it would have been to structure the king’s line into iambic pentameter: it is effectively already said as such because of the way wizardlyghost has phrased it, yet they haven’t!! They did not break the line, rendering what, by all typically of both Shakespearean canon and other periods context should be the character with the most command and authority in the whole play. If there was ever a more effective way to convey a genuine “what the fuck??”, I know of it not.
But it gets better!! Shakespeare regularly uses meter in order to represent class divide; the nobility usually speak in iambic pentameter, save for a few particularly chosen moments (e.g. Lady Macbeth’s descent into madness, Othello’s realisation of Desdemona’s “betrayal”) or just lines where Shakespeare needs to suggest high emotion or when a character is lost in thought. Supernatural characters like the fairies in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Witches in Macbeth usually speak in trochaic tetrameter, an inversion of iambic pentameter. Lower class characters, particularly those used for comic relief (usually under the influence of alcohol), speak with no structure at all: their language is plain prose. Therefore, if this is a conversation between these types of characters, as the prompt from silvergirachi suggests, why the hell are the characters speaking so eloquently???
Now, this is Tumblr. It is subsequently logical to assume that this may have merely been a humorous recreation (and a very good one at that) of the Shakespearean style in a way that is widely recognisable to an audience that may or may not have read a great deal of Shakespeare, which is understandable. However, logic is boring so I’m going to probe further into this to the point where future historians will look to this as an example of overanalysing.
The inherent eloquence of the characters here suggests an unusual subversion of the roles typically assumed in Shakespearean comedy. This could be interpreted along two major avenues: firstly, that the rhetoric displayed by the speakers is fundamentally representative of how truth can be expected even from the most seemingly pointless or ludicrous discussions. Furthermore, it could suggest that it matters not how well constructed your speeches are: if you talk bullshit, it’s going to sound that way despite your attempts to hide it.
This is similar but not identical to the second avenue of interpretation: there is the implication that the noblemen in the play are in fact the comic relief characters, therefore implying that the “common people” of the play are the ones whose influence, though not expressed in such a highly spoken manner, makes a lot more sense than whatever the hell this is. If this was a real Shakespeare play, I would call it a subtle exploration into the innate corruption of the rich and powerful. Well done, op.
Now, I doubt any of this is actually grounded analysis in any way, shape or form, but if someone else can take this to the extremes of writing a Shakespearean scene, why can I not analyse it as such? And where else to do so than Tumblr?
im in tears i didnt think anyone would put this much analysis into this‚ thank you so much
i also like that everyone else gets a version of their handle and then tumblr user pidoop is promoted to king
