Joshua Orpin as Soames Forsyte The Forsytes (1x01)
MILLIE GIBSON as Irene Heron and JOSHUA ORPIN as Soames Forsyte THE FORSYTES (2025 - )
This is the year of hot brothers that have a demon son and angel son; both "The Forsytes" and "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" delivered. Yes, Soames and Aerion are different types of villains, but to me, all evil men belong in the same category simply because they are men.
Stephen Moyer, Danny Griffin, Joshua Orpin, Jack Davenport, Finn Bennett, Bertie Carvel, Sam Spruell, and Oscar Morgan did a brilliant job bringing these characters to life, and it doesn't matter the screen time; all of them were equally great.
Also, for full transparency, I haven't read the books that the "The Forsytes" and "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" TV series are based on. This is just about the shows, and to clarify, I'm not saying that these men all have the same levels of goodness and evilness within; I'm saying this just in case some of you decide to watch "The Forsytes" and think about how I dared to compare any of these male characters. I'm simply making cinematic parallels.
Joshua Orpin and Millie Gibson as Soames and Irene Forsyte in a new promotional video for the US premiere of ‘THE FORSYTES’ (2025-)
A picture tells a thousand words and this video tells their entire story from start to finish to those who have the eyes to see. Excellent. I love these two. Our perfect Soames and Irene for a new generation.
The profound, subdued aversion which he felt in his wife was a mystery to him, and a source of the most terrible irritation. That she had made a mistake, and did not love him, had tried to love him and could not love him, was obviously no reason.
John Galsworthy, The Forsyte Saga
All four are my favorites, but if I had to choose one of the brothers and one of the cousins, I'd choose Benedict and Soames.
Luke and Joshua 🥹❤️😍💯
Here, have a gratuitous BBC screenshot.
Nemesis Chapter 34: A Paris morning.
And that's FIN. Done. Complete. Posted.
Next Tuesday: a 7500-word interlude titled "Soames in waiting". I love stealing Galsworthy titles and overturning them.
God I love loving an objectively morally bad character. That's my baby. Yes I know he did all that. Still my baby. No I agree that's an awful thing to do irl. But he's fictional. Hence why he's still my baby
