“Upgrading one’s imagination about what is possible is always a leap of faith.”
-Clay Shirkey, Cognitive Surplus
To Multitask or Not to Multitask | USC Master of Applied Psychology Online
Multi-tasking in a modern sense is no longer seen as an admirable skill.... what do you guys think? Do you multi-task, and if so, do you think it’s to your benefit or detriment?
A white former police officer has been convicted of murder for fatally shooting an unarmed black teenager last year in suburban Dallas. Jurors convicted Roy Oliver on Tuesday. Oliver was fired from the Balch Springs Police Department days after the April 2017 shooting. Oliver killed 15-year-old Jordan Edwards when he fired into a moving car carrying five black teenagers leaving a house party. The conviction marks a rare guilty verdict in a police shooting.
A step in the right direction. It is time we get guilty verdicts like this for all instances of police brutality. We’re not going to settle for “paid administrative leave” any longer
Yo
My name is Anthony and I am a Creative Writing major with a minor in Journalism. I’m not really sure what I’m going to do with those degrees, but like the majority of my actions, probably something scandalous, maybe even important.
I’m a father to a dope ass two year old, as well as a fiancé to my beautiful partner. I tend to think I’m a good person, but that’s really all about perspective. I care about people. I work hard. I party. I chill. I write. I sometimes eat my daughter’s puff snacks and then feel really bad about it, but she forgets about it in a couple of minutes so it’s all cool. I thought about listing off things that I like and am interested in, but I like a lot of things and my pinky kinda hurts from holding up my phone for so long, so I’ll just skip that. Instead, I’ll talk about the good stuff. The real gradeable material, the real spill.
I started using social media in like 8th grade, which is kind of a late start nowadays. I was, and still kinda am really poor, so we never had any internet in my house until my dad got a government issued cellphone, better known as an “Obama Phone”. It was mad primitive and hilariously designed for old people, but it had internet that would load a webpage in a record speed of two minutes, after I spent at least 10 minutes typing in the url with a dialpad. Instead of trying to make a new Facebook from scratch which would have been really hard to do with that thing, I hijacked my mom’s Facebook and literally changed all her information into mine. It was great. She took it back, though. Whatever. So I went to MySpace through my Aunt’s computer and spent hours designing my page with all types of thugged out Spongebob photos and money symbols (wishful thinking), only to get online and play those weird vampire mafia games all day. That was my experience with social media for a long time until I eventually got my own phone and some WiFi, and now I’m up to speed with everything and all that. I use it pretty often. Insta, FB, snap, all dat. I would say that it definitely effected my writing in the sense that it gave me a platform to not only experiment, but to experiment in front of an audience, one that I would never have to face. I came into contact with a lot of really talented poets and writers on Tumblr, and it really boosted my confidence when people would like my posts. So in that sense, social media allowed me to grow as a writer and also find current and trending writing and writers.
Wellllp that’s all. Like I said, my pinky hurts and I don’t really have much else to say. Thanks for staying tuned, my brothers and sisters. If you wanna check out some of my rough drafts which I’m kinda just hoping nobody steals, check out my other blog hornpoetry.tumblr.com , also follow this one because why not, I like to be followed. Like if a dog just started randomly following me everywhere, that’d be sick af. Woof woof idk

In The Mood For Your Honey
I don’t get as high as I used to get don’t drift as hard against the wind
I’m a sailor with a pen drawing the ocean end to end
they say we’re always moving vibrating, giving off heat I’m a bee buzzing your front door in the mood, for your honey
A flower birthed a berry That was ruby and splendid Though, I was told Red should be avoided
You’re beautiful in the same way that a missile whistles; Eventually it will explode
Let me play my victim card in regard To the color and shade of my deep roots Where cotton pricks red, ready whips crack hard Stripped love where hearts beat; locks cut sheered sheep I never meant to upset you with it Breaths of worn, vindictive hate for my skin Pigments that yours lack, express my heritage Scars shed red tears where the white has sinned They weep for boys worked and whipped And girls raped, I feel them- rain blood Of mine on yours, so we never forget Fertile ground of the rain; my flower buds Which grows into the tree from which we hanged And still we do, for little has changed
U and i i and U pure and true You’ll find depth-my love for you We knew; from the start A vein connected both our hearts So we never stayed Too far away
When we satisfied that thirsty vein Our inner magnets Twirled and played Fed and nurtured as a farm Our vein outgrew into an arm Of that arm outgrew a hand Which seized our hearts Our magnets’ plan
In that spot where veins connect A troubled i was surely blessed Of love-warm love-which burns my chest Where our hand can squeeze- As hearts do love, my eyes do see The strength of which our hand does seize
Destined love- our only true U and i i and U
