During her VMA performance, @taylorswift once again demonstrated that she is at her best with just a great song, a guitar, her voice, and her radiant smile. No props, effects, or flashy dance moves needed. She had the whole venue in the palm of her hand while performing Lover live.

A year ago today in Nashville. During the reputation era - the dark ages when Taylor wasn’t seen in public much, didn’t do many interviews - seeing her smile light up an arena was reassuring fans that the clouds will blow away and a rainbow is about to be seen. Lover was on its way.

Daylight is a perfect outro for Lover, and really the summary of the album, the era, the mood. The musical arrangements here are so retro and sublime.

And the Red callbacks. And the spoken words at the very end! What a way for an album to finish! Her best work.
