Good evening, my loves. If today were broken up into photographs, what would we see? Would time be frozen on the lines of your mouth, curled up in roaring laughter only you can hear? Would it concentrate on a single tear welling up in the corner of your eye, patiently waiting to fall, asking permission in the quietest of ways? Would it mark the length of a lover’s kiss or a friend’s jealous glare? Would it find you kind and honest, open in yourself even if it’s just to the privacy of your room? Would it be held in your hand or placed on a wall or burned to rid yourself of the memories? In my mind, I can see your image, racing across the universe, dancing and laughing and crying and screaming, guttural noises emerging from your lips as you hold on to dear life. That’s the crazy thing about living: we get to remember different little bits of each moment, each day, each lifetime as we circling together around the sun. Some of our memories hurt more than third degree burns and some are the gentlest of touches, the kind your parents gave you as a baby when they traced the lines of your skin with their fingers and lips, memorizing the wonder of all you could and can and will accomplish. Today is over and no matter what the photograph of today may look like, you can take another chance in sixty seconds or sixty minutes or sixty hours or even next week. You take a chance until the universe decides you can’t anymore then you take another chance in defiance of impending doom. You breathe and cry and hug and love and try. I am so happy you tried today. You made it to the night and that was so, so incredibly brave and wonderful of you. Thank you for making it, darling, I am so proud of you.
