Last Friday we had an exam about Othello. To be honest, I did read the book, but didn't manage to learn the vocabulary. This got me in some trouble during the exam. I completed the first part of the exam easily, but then, the second part was a 4c. I ended up writing words I didn't understand in places I thought they sound nice. Next time, I'll study with more time things like this, which take more difficulty for me.

Life Talk

A couple of days ago me and some of my classmates/friends had kind of a life talk we our teacher Mr. Jaison. As always, he has something to say about every topic (which sometimes irritates me, but I'm kind of the same). We started telling stories about ourselves, and he told some too. Then, we got to talk about his life right now. Iris asked the teacher, why is he proud of himself? He told us very valuable words. He said that at his short age, that I won't reveal but everybody knows, he's done a lot of stuff. And I kept thinking how, until he said something that answered me in just one sentence: "I saw opportunities where no one else did". I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur, someone that sees opportunities and takes them, but I've never figured out how. He then talked about investing, and how to really use money, to know how to use a loan and not paying interest, because he hates them, and a lot of more stuff. Talks like this are the ones that get me thinking in my future, and how to achieve what I really want in life.

Finishing 11th grade

So, we’re getting closer to the end of 11th grade. At this point I’m supposed to be as excited as I could ever be, no more homework for like 2 and a half months, even though we have to work on our IB projects. Although, I think about it, and it makes me kinda sad that we’re everyday closer to finishing school, because I know these will be the best years of my entire life, and I wouldn't want them to finish. Yes, I get all angry and tired and stuff about homework and projects, but in the end, that’s how life is. We should be thankful for having the friends we all have, and spent valuable time with them, because someday in approximately a year and a half, it will be too late, and some of us (the majority) will go our separate ways.

“Rich Dad, Poor Dad”

Yesterday we started reading the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, one of Jaison’s favorite. Even though I was falling asleep because I didn't rest much the day before, I found it pretty interesting. It shows a topic that will soon apply to our everyday lives, and that’s something we should be interested in. We only read the introduction and little part of chapter one, but as far as I can see, is going to be a good experience to read this book. Looking forward for tomorrow.

If a single teacher can’t teach all the subjects then how could you expect a single student to learn all subjects.

This week is going to be crazy and I’m going to be a little anxious and a bit stressed, everything is happening this week.

The first and most important thing (not really related to the quote or school) is that my sister is coming back from Argentina this Saturday and she is going to stay !! This is so great because she left us 4 years ago But now she’s coming back! But it will be also a bit stressfull for me because she will be in my room for a while and my room is not so big for two people to live in it and my sister is not the most organize person and I HATE it when room is disorganized, and that stress me out.

Also this is the last week to finish the math and history project. Thank ¨God¨ I did my math project in “Semana Santa” so math is not a big problem for me. Also the history project, I really have all done I just have to write, but I get bored and distracted so it’s going to be a bit difficult for me.

Also most of Taia has the “Confirmation” lucky for me to be “Jewish” and I do not have to worry about that.

Othello’s boredom

I’ve heard so much people saying Othello is the most boring play they’ve ever read. Actually, I get them, is a book written like what, 500 years ago? people weren't the same, maybe we are not able to see things the way they use to see it. But for me (and I’m not much of a reader) Othello is a great way to really see and understand how people thought back in those years. We are not being forced to understand them or anything, and I get it, it may be boring, but look at it as an opportunity to get to know how people would react back then. At last, we read it together in the classroom, in an interactive way (for some of us), so for it isn’t actually that boring.

Just wanted to remember you all that there is only one evaluation left with Jaison 4c, will we miss him? maybe, but never his 4c.

Also wanted to punctuate that he isn’t the only 4c and not even the worst: we also have Lomachichi and I am definetly looking forward for some months without her.

Holy Week is over, but it wasn’t much of a vacation. We had math homework, a math project, and we had to start reading about our IB project about Social studies (which I didn’t). Btw, I’m in Hufflepuff, once again. That’s the only house I’ve been in, even though is randomly chosen. So, we started our week after our “vacations”, with great news, we’re going to keep reading Othello. Yay... For our group work, as and before-reading activity, we have to look for unknown words in order to understand the text. We already did the research in class of 10 words we didn't know, but in the link above are some more of Act 2, which is the chapter we’re reading, for you to get to know them. During the cultural fair week, a small group of us went to Santo Domingo's China Town, with our teacher Miguel Angel. I really liked it, it was a great experience, even though I ate some weird sesame chicken. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the Chinese culture in Santo Domingo.

Last week we had the cultural fair in school. Every grade had a bunch of projects to present, which I personally found very interesting, each one of them. Our english group presented the project "Marxland", an exposition of our ideal island/country. Thank God, we didn't have any class nor homework during the whole week.
