"i care way too much, that's the thing," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper as her eyes closed for a second. she felt a tear slide down her cheek, warm and unwelcome. "nothing ever happened, i know how to take care of myself," she promised, a hint of frustration tangled with the ache in her words. it wasnât like this was her first raceâif she had to blame anyone, it would be her father for showing her that escape, even if the man had nothing to do with how far sheâd taken it. "if we go to a hospital, they'll ask questions, antonio," she said, her voice cracking just a little. "theyâll ask me what happened, and what am i supposed to say?" her heart pounded harder at the thought. "no, you're not taking me home with you. you can drop me off at mine, and thatâs it," she insisted, shaking her head as if that would somehow make him listen. "i'm fine," she added, trying to sound convincing, even as her neck throbbed with a dull, persistent pain. "my neck hurts, i'll take a tablet and go to bed." her gaze softened, pleading. "please, listen to me."
" I'm talking about laws, you're careless about laws" He mumbled but i seemed pointless to be arguing with her about that, there she was hurt after a car accident and he was nagging her about being careless." You mean nothing ever happened until now, you could take care of yourself but now you need my help and yet you refuse to let me help you, do you know how frustrating that is Berta? What's so bad about coming home with me? You don't want to be around me? like if I want to keep an eye on you why is that so bad? why do you have to refuse that? Your neck hurts, I want to help you and make sure my baby sister is okay. Can you really say that if the wheel was turned around, you wouldn't want to take care of me? You do know if you just leave then I won't sleep tonight right? You might not need to stay with me, but I need you to, for my sake"
