Yall I was playing the event for twst today and OMG WHY ARE EPEL AND SEBEK SO CUTE??? LIKE HELLO??? Bro they’re literally besties! Trust🤞LIKE HELLO NOT THEM SMILING MISCHIEVOUSLY AND THEN PICKING IDIA UP
Bro I’m just saying I feel like their friendship should be talked about a bit more!
Anyways I was thinking so imagine after the Harveston event, they all go back to NRC but there is a visible shift in their schedule. Before Sebek would spend a lot of his time with Dia 3 while Epel would mostly be with Vil But then now they always seem to be missing throughout the day!
Malleus doesn’t notice how often Sebek is gonna until like a week passes and this is starting to become a common thing while Silver also notices Sebek isn’t with him as often anymore so now Dia 3 is curious as to where Sebek is going throughout the day!
Next thing you know they see Epel and Sebek just running around near the woods or just hanging out together at Ramshackle and they’re just like when did those two get so close??? But obvs they’re glad Sebek is interacting with more people now! And from then on everyone can visibly see how close Epel and Sebek have gotten!! Like you can always see them walking in the halls together(Sebek is taking turns with Silver to escort Malleus now that Sebek started walking with Epel) and you can always see Sebek smiling so widely now:3 and you can always catch him talking to someone on the phone with Epel(hint:it’s Epel’s Grandma). All the other first years also note how Epel and Sebek are starting to become sort of a duo now obvs not as chaotic as Adeuce but they’re still chaotic. You can see Epel trying to throw an apple at someone while Sebek is just gripping onto Epel so he doesn’t actually throw it!
Now this would be fine for Dia 3 BUT NOW SEBEK IS LEGIT JUST ALWAYS GONE! They can barely find him anywhere and yes he still guard Malleus but not as often as before! Now they’re all starting to feel his missing presence and it just feels so WRONG…. He’s also started having sleepovers at Pomefiore which would be fine…IF LILIA AND SILVER DIDNT CATCH VIL SAYING THAT HE WAS TRYING TO CONVINCE SEBEK TO JOIN POMEFIORE INSTEAD!
You can’t convince me that Sebek would not fit in Pomefiore, like we know how strict he is with himself and he always works hard for everything he does! And I bet you that Vil atleast respects that part(And also Vil caught Sebek with his hair down when he was at Pomefiore and he can’t just let that POTENTIAL be wasted). So now Dia 3 is just tweaking trying to get Sebek to hang out with them. They try so many ways but everytime Sebek always has to decline because he either has plans with the first years, Epel, or somehow he gets roped into a trip with Vil! THEY EVEN GOT MALLEUS TO INVITE HIM BUT HE STILL DECLINE(Don’t get him wrong he was absolutely overjoyed that his liege invited him but sadly he already made plans and he would stick with it) At this point if they want to hang out with him more they’re gonna have to reserve a time specifically for what day😭
Each failed attempt is just making Sebek slowly drift away from them without him even noticing! They’re so desperate now😭 Anyways while all this is happening, Sebek is living his best life now hanging out with his friends, having a specific friend now(Epel) and going around more places and being accepted!!! He’s so happy:3
They’re also so silly for this🤣 like plz why did Sebek look so aggressive at first LMAOO gotta love the team spirit tho!!!
Yall imagine an au where all the first years try to get Sebek to go to their dorm kind’ve like a trial period for like 3 days and then the dorm heads catch wind up this and then are also like hmmm that’d be interesting so they also try to convince Sebek. (They got permission from Crowley cause why not)Turns out Sebek fits very well in all of the dorms and he fits very well in a duo with each one of the first years in their dorms(trio in adeuce’s case ).
Like Sebek is sometimes reprimanding Epel in Pomefiore but he’s with Epel on his distaste for the flavorless food(like be so fr atleast Lilia’s cooking has taste even if it’s bad…SHAME ON YOU) and they have a good time together(Vil firmly believes that Sebek should keep his hair down,he WILL rectify this atrocity AND ALSO WHERE WERE YOU SEBEK WHEN HE NEEDED A GOOD SINGER FOR VDC)
Let’s be honest Sebek is a rule followed through and through and he’s already acquainted with Riddle so he’d honestly do well in Heartslabyul especially as a trio with Adeuce as the braincell but still getting roped into their shenanigans(riddle is glad that atleast one of them knows the rules)
Sebek is super athletic so Jack and him went on morning runs together a lot when he was at Savanaclaw and let’s be honest those two prob destroyed anyone that tried to challenge them together(Leona was lowkey impressed)
and Ortho taught Sebek some new games while Idia occasionally showed Sebek new games(his favorite was animal crossing)(Idia guesses he doesn’t mind the freshman…BUT he’s very loud…)
Surprisingly Sebek becomes friends with Floyd while in Octavinelle and manages to get out of their without getting into any contracts(Octa Trio liked him enough so they didn’t try to scam him..this is a one time thing tho!!!), and while he was in Scarabia, he got along well with Jamil(Sebek thinks he’s a cool human)(Now while Jamil doesn’t like extra work, he wouldn’t mind having an extra person to help him…and he GUESSES Sebek isn’t a bad person to hand out with)and he manages to keep Kalim out of trouble while Jamil was away but Kalim instead taught Sebek some dances(Kalim thinks Sebek is very fun).
Later on the Diasomnia trio find out and are like WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN???NO WAY(None of the housewardens informed Malleus😭) and then all of them end up fighting for Sebek and like Sebek just has like no fucking idea what’s going on. He’s just excited that so many people wanna hang out with him and he’s just like >:3. Kalim and Azul also gets in on it. Like Scarabia and Octavinelle also join in because "oh look new friend to party with" and "ah yes money" but the most important "I..I have a freshman now? *cri*"
I think a perfect ending for this is to see Sebek's skills in person. Because I believe the dorms (sans first years) are going to argue what skillset they can bring for Sebek not knowing that Sebek is absurdly and obliviously competent with most tasks. Like idk Sebek swordfighting with some random RSA prince charming and actually won something for NRC is a flex.
Cue Crowley and the other teachers fending off teachers from RSA to "STOP RECRUITING MY STUDENT" "BUT HE HAS POTENTIAL IN RSA-"
A green thunderbolt quickly shuts the mouth of the RSA professor. and now the Diasomnia trio is like “OMGGG NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE TO FIGHT THE FIRSTIES FOR SEBEK BUT NOW ALSO THE HOUSEWARDENS TF” and then they’re just fighting for Sebek’s attention . ALSO IT WOULD BE SO COOL IF SEBEK ALSO IS AQQUAINTED WITH SOMEONE IN RSA LIKE YOU AFTER THE SWORDFIGHTING THING AND THEYRE LIKE “you knowwww Sebek you should totes come to RSA” (he somehow befriended the RSA student he beat and now they have weekly hangouts)(first years are not happy about this)and then now everyone is fighting for Sebek so now the staff are trying to fend off RSA staff and students but everyone is also trying to get Sebek to join their dorms.
Guysss I was thinking what if one day Epel invited Sebek back to Harveston just to hang out and Yuu and grim tag along. It’s just the 4 of them, and then when they get there Marja is just like yall should join the competition going on. Epel then remembers there was a talent show that happens around that time. Yuu being the good friend they are suggested that Epel and Sebek should join but they have no idea what to do.
Yuu suddenly suggests for them to sing as a duo. Sebek and Epel are just like ???what why??? And Yuu like No guys listen I know a good song yall can sing!!! And Yuu starts getting a manic look in there eyes and honestly Sebek and Epel are kinda scared to say no to them… Anyways the song ended up being a descendants song (maybe What’s my name???).
Marja desperately wants them to win because well they’re from harveston so THEY BETTER WIN! They happen to meet the Dwarves there again for some reason but this time Neige seems to be with them. Neige immediately recognizes Epel and is like OMGGG you’re Vil’s junior! And then he looks at Sebek and starts to introduce himself. Sebek is lowkey a bit put off by him but he continues to introduce himself as well before Epel pushes him along so they can practice(They cannot STAND RSA students and their little “we wAnT To MaKE EveryONe hapPY!” Ugh DISGUSTING imagine hanging out and being friends🤢)(they act as if they haven’t been laughing and having the best time)(They’re literally best friends🤞 the sooner they accept it, the better).
Anyways on the day of the competition Sebek and Epel manage to somehow beat Neige and his friends??? And they’re so DAMN HAPPY!!! LIKE EPEL IS JUST FULL ON SCREAMING AND TALKING IN HIS COUNTRY TONE WHILE SEBEK IS ALSO SO HAPPY>:3 Epel and Sebek start to hug eachother before they realized that they were acting like “friends” so they immediately separate despite still smiling. Marja and Yuu go over to congratulate them and Neige comes over too. Neige is genuinely so curious on who Sebek is and how he sang so good??? They all ended up taking a group picture with Neige and went back home.
Now what they didn’t know is that Yuu took a video of them and posted it on Magicam and the added picture posted Neige made them legit BLOW UP on magicam. Like everyone is wondering who they are and they’re legit blowing up everywhere! It got to the point where magicam temporarily shut down for a bit! Vil and Cater ended seeing the twos video and Cater is showing EVERYONE! He went to show Adeuce and those two are lowkey offended that Epel and Sebek didn’t tell them where they were going but hey they’re lowkey impressed by their performance! Vil legit dropped his cup from shock, Rook who was also there caught it and they both watched the video. Vil doesn’t even know what to say, obviously he was proud but did it have to be Neige who posted about him. ALSO Vil is completely impressed by Sebek( WHERE WAS HE WHEN VDC WAS HAPPENING???) Vill resolved that he was gonna give the potatoes lessons when they got back(yes Sebek too, he doesn’t care what Sebek thinks about it). Rook is also very impressed by Monsieur Crocodile and Cherry Apple’s performance and he just found his next target to observe!(In Harveston Sebek starts to sneeze vigorously and Epel run to get him earmuffs).
Eventually they got so popular that it spread all over the school. Now everyone’s talking about them. Cater goes to show Lilia and Kalim when he goes to music club and Lilia is genuinely jaw dropped, HE NEVER KNEW HIS STUDENT COULD SING???, and Cater starts asking why Lilia didn’t tell him that Sebek was so good and Lilia just can’t respond cause he didn’t know either???😭 anyways Lilia goes to show Silver and Malleus and they’re all like pointing at eachother and asking if eachother knew Sebek could sing?! They lowkey feel bad that they didn’t know… They ended up resolving that they’d talk and spend more time with Sebek when he came back.
But as the hour passes, more and more keep Sebek and Epel and start expressing their interest in them. Dia 3 are not happy about this(SEBEK IS TOO YOUNG TO DATE! HE NEEDS TO BE ATLEAST 200 y/o BEFORE HE EVEN TJINKS OF DATING)(Silver lowkey thinks they’re overreacting but he also doesn’t want Sebek to date so he agrees with them). At this rate they’re gonna have to beat everyone off with a stick(did Silver and malleus just hear Vil saying he was gonna steal Sebek???)(Suddenly it started thundering outside and Vil ran inside the school)(THERE IS NO WAY HIS GUARD(his brother figure) IS GONNA GET STOLEN AWAY FROM HIM!).
DESPITE THE AMOUNT OF CHAOS GOING ON BACK AT NRC AND ON THE JNTERNET, Epel and Sebek are back at Harveston unaware of the storm that was gonna hit them when they got back to NRC, oh well they’ll just enjoy their time rn!
Yuu is in the corner smirking evilly while laughing by themselves looking at their phone(Grim looks at the human concerned before just inching away from their servant and getting more phone, as long as it as nothing to do with him he’s fine).
LIKE CMON LOOK AT THEM!!! THEY EVEN HAVE MATCHING POSES!!! I NEED THEN TO HAVE MORE INTERACTIONS!!!
What if Instead of Sebek getting slapped, he and Eliza(the ghost bride) hit it off and start just full on GOSSIPING with eachother and acting like bestfriends and everyone is just left standing there wondering how tf they managed to hit it off and also are like “HELLO??? WE’RE STILL HERE FROZEN???”
Thenn it starts getting later and later so now everyone is getting increasingly tired so they’re all just glaring at Eliza and Sebek and trying to get Sebek to HURRY TF UP and this is when the first years start to get a bit miffed like “hELLo Sebek is OUR friend???” And Lilia and silver aren’t having it much either so everyone is just having a bad day while Eliza and Sebek continue having their talk :3
Eventually Malleus is wondering where the others are because they should’ve been done by now and then he goes to check and everyone is telling him to convince Sebek to put the ring on her so they can all unfreeze and go back to the dorms. Malleus tries to convince Sebek but is absolutely shocked and everyone is also shocked when Sebek refuses and continues talking to Eliza. AND ELIZA IS SO SMUG ABOUT IT TOO she’s giggling and smirking their way and the first years and Dia 3 are absolutely livid that their friend/brother figure is getting stolen away!!!
Everyone would be so annoyed! Like cmon seriously again??? Omg and u can just see Dia 3 seething in the corner! The first years aren’t better off! ESPECIALLY EPEL! LIKE COME ON THATS HIS FRIEND(not that they are…) EVERYTIME Eliza and Sebek are hanging out something always goes wrong. Like Sebek is walking out of the dorm with Eliza and then suddenly it’s thundering and pouring outside and they need to go back In(Malleus is not allowing some wannabe princess steal Sebek), Sebek and Eliza happen to pass pomefiore, Epel somehow manages to find them and starts tagging along hogging all of Sebek’s attention(HA take that ghost! SEBEK IS HIS BEST FRIEND,he’s so smug)(Eliza is so close to hitting this little shit but then Sebek,her best friend btw, wouldn’t like that so she’s holding herself back), Silver happens to fall asleep near where Sebek and Eliza are so Sebek has to carry him back(Silver peeks up from Sebek shoulder and sticks his tongue out at Eliza), and there are many more incidents with the other first years(they did end up getting slapped but Sebek wasn’t happy about it so Eliza had to unparalyze them).
Eventually Eliza has to go back except this isn’t a one time thing. Instead of every 100 years she starts coming every week!!! EVERYONE IS SO CLOSE TO SNAPPING! SHE LITERALLY WVEYWHWRE SHES ALWAYS WITH SEBEK! The first years are close to attacking her and Dia 3 have to keep formulating new plans!
Or otherwise known as when first years want a favor from Sebek, they bargain by using a point system(sortve)
Basically 1 is listening to a small tale he wants to tell about Malleus and 2 being them listening to him ramble about how great malleus is and 3 is for them to help him with anything he wants(they only use this when they’re truly desperate).
Ace has sat through multiple rambles bcs he’s used the favors A LOT!
VERY rarely has anyone used 3 because despite what people think, every single times it’s always the weirdest shit that he has made them do for him. (Epel still won’t tell anyone why he looked so traumatized after he came back from helping Sebek)
Hi Ego! I’m not sure if my first message went through about a week ago, so I’m trying again! As a fellow Twst-er and Diasomnia lover, I really want to get into making fan art and comics like you do. Although, I’m not exactly sure how you manage to come up with such amazing ideas and drawings so fast, so if you have any tips (from you or the Dia-fam) I would love you FOREVER! (Which I already do because your art is iconic but still.)
oh no, I don't think I got it, thank you for resending!! 💚 it is always kinda hard to talk about where ideas come from so I'm not sure how helpful this'll be, but one of my favorite things to do -- and bonus, is always a good fallback for when you're feeling the urge to do something but can't think of what -- is to start out with like...adapting a particular scene or moment or whatever that sticks out to me. just thinking about how I would draw the characters and what they'd be doing, and any extra little jokes or acting I can add, that kinda stuff! I'm not an especially original person so having a kind of jumping-off point actually works a lot better for my brain. :B and half the time it spirals into being something totally removed from the original point anyway (and also twice as long and with more characters and, well, I can't complain when I do this to myself I guess).
although it also helps to just be. incapable of not constantly thinking about The Characters and connecting them to literally everything. so when someone says 'driving' while I'm busy thinking about Diasomnia (which is any given moment) and my brain goes 'ha ha diasomnia. driving. what if' and the next thing I know I've done this (sorry)
Your comics about Sebek’s parents are so funny! I was wondering if you have any headcanons about Sebek’s siblings? I think the only canon facts we have is Sebek’s brother is a NRC graduate and Sebek’s sister calls him “Sebek-chan” and they both took Sebek fishing.
thank you! :> I love the Zigvolts a ridiculous amount for characters who have never actually shown up (...yet). I do think Sebek's siblings got a lot more of their dad's personality than he did; everything we hear about them makes them sound waaaay more chill, plus I think they say at some point that Sebek was the only one who had any interest in soldier training. so presumably they've got their own things they're off doing!
anyway, my 100% headcanon bits for them are that 1) they're a lot closer in age to each other than to Sebek (and it's kind of a big gap between them and him), and 2) they both inherited the scales and/or pointy ears. so Sebek is both the baby and also the most human-looking, and he is VERY prickly about both those things. 😔
(I would be SO happy to be proven wrong about all of this though, if they would just give us that Briar Valley hometown event and let us meet any of them--)
I was drawing something else Twst-related and then this entered my head and would not leave. sometimes you just gotta do the thing regardless of whether or not it’s a “good idea” or “inscrutable to anyone who isn’t sharing your exact mindset at the time”.
(realtalk though I am absolutely obsessed with Sebek’s parents. what a power couple. they deserve their own hallmark movie and if we don’t get to learn anything else about them I will riot.)
Have you ever thought about Sebek being like, super smart? Like he's easily on third year level in classes, he's constantly one of the top students in the entire SCHOOL, he finishes an assignment in the time it takes another first year to start researching stuff.
He can do all that because when he got to NRC he was all like "I WILL NOT DISAPPOINT WAKASAMA!". Maybe was thinking something along the lines of 'MY GRADES MUST NOT REFLECT POORLY ON DIASOMNIA!'

I like to think that if he were super smart, one thing that heavily contributed to his knowledge was him being a late bloomer. If he couldn't wield magic yet, he might as well LEARN about it.
As years went by, with his magic not appearing and the other kids becoming more cruel with their little jabs, Sebek found solace in the words in his books. He would rather stay inside than play with his siblings out in town (He knew fully well why he couldnt join them).
But not going out meant not getting lost in the forest. Not getting lost in the forest meant not meeting Master Lilia. Not meeting Master Lilia meant not meeting Silver and Malleus. And Sebek didn't want that. So, after their fateful meeting, he started hanging out with Silver.
Which led to the mirror right in front of him. Diasomnia, the mirror would announce, and he would pray to the Seven in thanks. He could finally join the others.
He just didn't expect for them to be...busy, all the time. Silver had new friends. Lilia was busy doing...honestly Sebek didn't even know. And Malleus was nowhere to be found, always never where he should be. Always never where Sebek wanted him to be.
So, he threw himself back into his childhood friend: books. Poured every single minute of his day into learning all he could, slowly rising the ranks. Rise enough that he was able to make it into the top 5. He looked at his place on the board and beamed.
He was finally truly worthy of being Wakasama's retainer.
(He ignored the fact that maybe, just maybe, he was only doing this so they would notice. So they would praise him. Be proud of him. Notice him.)

Now, to make things make...a bit more sense in a way, we do this during Sebek's second year. Sorry third years you're off into your internships 😔
So, without their powerhouse Vil leading for VDC, NRC is quite worried. Because despite Vil's harsh training, he KNEW what he was doing and has had loads of experience. We're going to remove the previous VDC members for sake of mixing things up a bit, except for Epel and Jamil.
Epel as a way to...show the torch being passed on to EPEL, AS HE LEARNS TO SEE VIL'S PERSPECTIVE OF BEAUTY, AND LEARNING TO USE THIS KNOWLEDGE THAT HE'S GAINED FROM HIM TO TRULY EMBODY POMEFIORE'S TENACITY...I love Pomefiore
Jamil since this could also signify how he's finally given himself the chance to indulge in things he couldn't before without any outside force pushing him to do so. These two will be the "leaders" for this year's VDC.
They try to recruit with...minimal success. Less people have auditioned due to Vil being gone, and the new first years aren't really that passionate about VDC, especially after last year's shocking result of NRC losing to a single vote.
Their first recruit however is Ortho, eager to properly audition VDC to get a chance to experience it. Unlike last year, he's able to get in since Epel knows how much this means to him as he continues to try and find himself after Book 6 events.
Their next recruit is, to Jamil's dismay, Azul. He's actually suggested by Ortho, who informs Epel and Jamil of a beautiful singing voice that his sensors have picked up on from time to time, ever since last year. Ortho singles it out for the first time, and claims for it to be Azul's voice.
Recruiting Azul isn't easy, as he keeps on bargaining with Jamil to create a contract with him first before he can join. Epel finally points out that participating in VDC is already a great pro for Azul as he could use this as a chance to promote his business. Azul reluctantly agrees, but Jamil can sense that there's something that Azul isn't telling them.
They still need more people, and this is where Azul out of the "goodness" of his heart, informs them that Floyd has actually been interested in auditioning for VDC. This shocks the others, and they question if Floyd even has the skills for VDC. Or if he even has the DRIVE to do so, since Floyd can switch up moods and interests in a whim. This is something that Azul has also been worried about, which is why he initially didn't tell them about it.
But he does say that Floyd can be quite focused when he puts his mind to it, they just need a way to keep his interest from waning. Jamil disagrees with him, saying that it would be too much hard work to do so. They eventually drop it, and continue to try and find more people.
Epel's confidence wavers a bit due to this, his stress building up and turns to the first years for help. He asks Ace and Deuce if they're interested to audition for VDC again, but they turn his offer down since despite the event being fun, they do NOT want to go through training again. Jack turns it down as well, needing to help Ruggie manage the dorm. Uh whether he was made housewarden or vice is up to you.
Sebek, who was reading a book, turns it down too as Diasomnia's moral has decreased significantly ever since Malleus and Lilia leftfor internships. Epel says that maybe VDC could bring it back up again, but Sebek combats this by saying that he has no interest in singing nor dancing. Epel drops the subject.
Then, a scuffle happens in the cafeteria. Floyd is pestering Riddle again. Epel is surprised, as he's seen the Leech twin bothering the Heartslabyul housewarden ever since last year, and that he's still going at it. Ace mentions that he's probably been like that ever since they were first years, and for some reason Floyd thinks Riddle is interesting. This gives Epel an idea.
He makes a plan to lure Riddle to the VDC audition room, while Azul will bring Floyd. This backfires however when Riddle gets suspicious of him, and asks why he wants him to go there. Epel says that it's super important, but Riddle doesn't waver. Eventually, Jamil comes to the rescue and tells Riddle that a second year wants to audition, and before he can continue with the lie by saying "they need a housewarden's permission first," Riddle surprisingly gives in pretty quickly.
Just in time too, as Floyd who has been waiting for quite a while is getting bored of the idea of VDC since the judges aren't even here yet. Azul desperately tries to keep him inside the room but Floyd shrugs him off and is about to leave, but is having a hard time to budge the door open for some reason. When he's about to literally bodyslam into it, Jamil, Riddle and Epel come in.
Riddle is furious once he's learned that he's been tricked, while Floyd is ecstatic. Riddle demands Epel to tell him why he doesn't deserve to use his UM on him right then and there. Epel finally breaks down and confesses that making sure VDC goes well means a lot to him, as he wants to make Vil and Rook proud (I LOVE POMETRIO). As one of the "leaders" of the group, and as a Pomefiore dorm student, he WILL make sure that he'll create an act that will wow the audience, and might even surpass Vil's own. He wants to show Vil and Rook that he has grown (I LOVEEE POMETRIO).
Eventually moved, Riddle agrees to join the group... ONLY after setting down a bunch of ground rules, most pointed towards Floyd. Floyd breaks like, half of them on the FIRST DAY and Riddle almost quits, but realizes how Floyd has been surprisingly focused for training for VDC. He learns that Floyd was also interested in VDC because the twins didn't want to leave Azul alone by himself.
Riddle gets confused by this but isn't able to question Floyd further. He is only able to find out what Floyd means when Azul has to actually practice onstage. Azul freezes up, messing it up causing Jamil to snap at him.
Floyd is quick to defend Azul in his own way, threatening to squeeze Jamil when Riddle finally figures it out and outright asks Azul if he has stage fright. Azul quickly denies this, but after a few more jabs from Riddle he admits it. Jamil gets annoyed, seeing that Azul was boasting all about how he would greatly contribute to VDC only to be stopped because he's "shy."
Vil tells him to find someone who could replace Azul, but Epel stubbornly says that he wants Azul on the team. Vil sighs, saying that he should be grateful that he isn't there physically right now, and tells him to find what exactly about performing onstage makes Azul freeze up. He notes that when Azul practiced, there was no big audience or crowd. Was it just the feeling of being onstage himself? Is he just also "shy" in front of small crowds?
Cue VDC breakup that actually happens, and Epel is down in the dumps. He eventually calls Vil and asks for advice. Vil scolds him and asks why didn't he call sooner, and Epel admits his insecurities of not being able to do Vil and Rook proud. Vil tells him to stop thinking of how they would think of their act because no matter what, they know that Epel will always do his best and give a spectacular performance.

With this advice, Epel tries to confront Azul. It doesn't work until Floyd jumps in as well and tells Azul to stop being a crybaby. This triggers Azul causing him to snap at Floyd until Floyd points out that for some reason, he's regressed back to how he was when they were children. He's seen Azul exaggerating his own actions for the sake of Monstro Lounge publicity in front of many NRC students, so why is he suddenly scared of performing onstage?
Azul isn't the crybaby he used to be anymore. He has people he can depend on now. Jade and Floyd still have his back. But Azul won't admit what's wrong with him until Jamil surprisingly comes into the picture, holding up a post from a certain Prince Rielle with a group of friends behind him with the caption, "Excited for VDC!" Azul is surprised as well as Floyd, wondering how he even found Prince Rielle's post.
Turns out Prince Rielle's group of friends used to be Azul's bullies, and he's worried of what they'll think about him when they see him onstage. Epel thinks back to his conversation with Vil and tells Azul to quit bitching. He didn't work his ass off for VDC for nothing and he is not letting Azul's stage fright ruin this.
Floyd gets confused and says how is Epel's "speech" helping their dilemma. Epel finally gets to the point: telling Azul that he's grown up since his bullies have last seen him. He's strong and capable now, and if anyone tries to mess with him they'll beat their ass for him anyway. THAT Floyd understands and agrees with. Jamil reluctantly says that he'll also offer his own help.
Touched, Azul tries to practice again onstage. He messes up midway but is able to pull through. Jamil says that they can touch up on it, especially since Azul has difficulty with dancing. Either way, he tells him that it was "good enough," but that they'll need to work themselves to the bone if they want to win VDC as they've wasted a lot of time due to trying to find people to recruit and the whole VDC breakup thing.
"Wow Quincy where is Riddle" While VDC breakup happened Riddle took note that Azul's weakness involved dancing, but his talents lied in his singing. Looking through the VDC rulebook, he makes an interesting discovery: Not EVERYONE necessarily has to sing AND dance. And that they can showcase their act through multiple forms of art, as long as it was LIVE and had singing and dancing. I'm making this all up by the way I dont know VDC rules or whatever.
He proposes the idea that they set up their act like a musical play, hopefully based on a story that everyone is familiar with AND where they could accommodate Azul so he wouldn't have to dance as much due to their time constraint. They all go to the library to find a story they can use when Ortho hears a sudden thump.
He goes into an aisle where the sound came from and finds a discarded book of fairy tales lying on the floor. There's a bookmark inside and Ortho goes to its page and sees that it's the story "The Little Mermaid." He suggests the story, saying that Azul could act as Ursula. If they're allowed, maybe they could even have a huge water tank or pull off some holographic illusions to truly encapsulate scenes underwater.
Azul declines because 1) YOU WANT HIM TO ACT AS HIS IDOL!?!?!?!?! and 2) That requires being in his octo-form. Riddle gives the final push they need to convince Azul by saying that this is the chance to prove not only to Azul's bullies but also to himself that he can finally get over his fears and doubts.
So now, they're getting ready for VDC, and it's their last week. Please note that the story of the Little Mermaid is DIFFERENT in twisted Wonderland, so there are tweaks here. Non-evil Ursula and all that jazz.
And then, Epel video calls with Vil. Mostly to catch up and to talk about the progress they've made as a group. He won't tell him what they're actually doing for VDC though. Vil looks at everyone's smiling faces through the screen, smiles as well and suddenly says, "Where's your 7th member?" Everyone freezes up.
"S-seventh?" Epel stutters out. Vil raises a brow. "You need at least seven or eight people for VDC, potato. Don't tell me-" Epel hangs up. Everyone sits in silence. Then, they panic. THEY'RE ONLY 6 PEOPLE?? And now they have to find an extra person.
But there's no time to find a suitable candidate. They would need to interview them, catch them up on the script and the moves-
Epel BREAKS DOWN. All this work for NOTHING because he didn't know about the stupid 7-8 students rule. Everyone is inconsolable, until Riddle suddenly sighs and says that he knows someone they could go to. Jamil refutes this, saying they dont have enough time to find another person and train them, when Riddle just shuts him off and tells everyone to follow him.
Everyone reluctantly does, surprised to see that they're being lead to the Diasomnia dorms. Silver greets them, asking why they're here. Riddle asks if Sebek is around, and as if on cue he walks into the lounge. He gapes at the group before pushing them out of the dorm, ignoring Silver's confused expression.
Sebek demands why they're all here, when Riddle coughs into his hand and tells him, "Care to reveal what you've been doing?" Sebek crosses his arms. "I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT!" Riddle sighs. "When Epel told you about his problems with recruiting people for VDC, you helped him out, didn't you?"
Everyone turns towards Riddle, confused. Epel most especially, "But, Sebek said he didn't-" "Floyd, when I entered the audition room, you were about to leave, weren't you?" Floyd grins. "Hehe, how did you know that, goldfishie?" Riddle rolls his eyes, "Weren't you?"
"You're no fun." Floyd pouts. "Yeah, I was."
"But when you were trying to leave, I noticed you had a problem with opening the door for some reason." Epel and Jamil look at each other. "Did we lock the other door?" Azul shook his head, "Nope, it was unlocked. If Floyd tried to escape I was just going to use myself as a barricade."
"Yet, why was it locked?" Riddle squints his eyes at Sebek. "Or rather, why was it being blocked?" Sebek doesn't waver. Riddle continues to point out that Ortho had found their story for the play through a book with a bookmark. He asks Ortho to take it out and see if there was anything interesting about it.
Ortho does so and notices that the charm connected to it is shaped like a thunderbolt. Sebek rolls his eyes and says that anyone could own a bookmark like that. But Epel refutes this because when he asked the first years for help, he saw that Sebek was reading a book with the very same bookmark.
At this, Sebek seems to tense up a bit but won't admit to anything. Then, Jamil finally remembers something. Riddle immediately followed him and Epel when he mentioned a second year in the audition room. Jamil was saying it with Ace or Deuce in mind, yet with the extra information now, it seems that Riddle was thinking of another second year.
Riddle tells him that he's correct: he was thinking of Sebek. Because Sebek himself admitted to him that he wanted to audition for VDC. At this, the group beg Sebek to join them, but he still turns them down. "I'M NOT SKILLED AT SINGING NOR DANCING, REMEMBER FELMIER?" Sebek huffs as Epel wilts. "I'M SURE YOU WILL FIND ANOTHER SUITABLE CANDIDATE. NOW, IF YOULL EXCUSE ME-"
"Monsieur Croc, why do you say such things when your performance in the Sleepless Castle was simply just- beaute!" Everyone freezes up when they hear Rook's voice. Epel grabs his phone and makes a fast excuse when Vil just sighs. "You only closed your camera. You didn't hang up, little potato."
After that embarrassing moment, Rook reveals that Sebek is quite skilled in singing, saying that he had a "voice that could even fit operas!" Knowing how Rook is, Epel is even more determined to get Sebek into their team.
what the hell do you mean crowley told the evacuating students to go get the other housewardens. what the hell do you mean six other teenagers/young adults had students from another dorm run up to them in their own dorms to tell them that one of their peers was actively self-destructing in the most dangerous thing a mage could do and condition a mage could be in. what the hell do you mean those six had to collectively come to terms with the fact that a seventeen-year-old was basically killing himself with his own magic and repressed emotions before they could do anything.
i wonder how it went when each of them went to heartslabyul, expecting to find corpses, only finding a small handful of students, including the magicless prefect and their monster familiar(?), who stood their ground, and the news that riddle was completely fine and was on the way to the nurse with his vice and the headmage.
man this game is morbid.
(i mean, based on the cut to savanaclaw, leona didn't go anywhere, so either none of the housewardens were actually told, they just couldn't find leona before being told that riddle was fine, or they just went straight to the staff and the more available housewardens, i.e. vil, kalim, maybe azul, etc.—or i'm just thinking about this reasonable throwaway line way too much lololol)

could I please have hcs for the first years like when/if they become dorm leaders for their respective dorms??? for adeuce if one is the dorm leader can you make the other the vice? please and thank you!
Curiouser and Curiouser...
Ace is the least rules-oriented Heartslabyul Dorm Leader in decades. That's not to say that it’s total anarchy, but he definitely doesn’t go about enforcing nonsensical rules, only the ones that make sense!
... And even then, he bends the occasional rule himself! To Ace, any and all rules are “open to interpretation”. As long as there’s a loop hole or vague enough wording to exploit, Ace will talk himself out of any punishment, and he encourages his students to do the same. That’s his own brand of “just”!
He wants the kids of Heartslabyul to have a good time when they’re not studying. Ace loads up the lounge with board, card, and tabletop games, and makes sure that the kitchen is always stocked with pies and tarts for anyone wandering around for a midnight snack.
When it comes to Unbirthday Parties, Ace changes things up! The roses are left white, and there’s always a different selection of foods, teas, and entertainment every time. There’s no designated seating or proper table etiquette--instead, you’ll find Ace flitting about teasing students and amusing guests with card tricks, or loudly slurping his tea and using the wrong salad fork.
He gets into a lot of disagreements with his Vice Dorm Leader, Deuce, who seems to be a lot more hellbent on keeping with tradition than he is (the same holds true if Deuce is Dorm Leader and Ace is Vice). It’s not uncommon to hear them arguing in the hallways (which leads to their students saying they remind them of “an old married couple”).
Ace isn’t a very formal person, so he’s easy for the Heartslabyul kids to approach and just have a casual conversation with. He mingles really well with the first years in particular, as he still has a sense of immaturity about him.
“The old Heartslabyul Dorm Leader will tell you that the rules are king. Nah, forget all of that. I’m runnin’ a court here, aren’t I? If you can give me solid evidence or a good enough argument, I’ll letcha run wild in the rose garden. But if you really messed up, I’m expecting you to pay me back in apology pie.”
Deuce keeps the legacy of Riddle and the Queen of Hearts in mind during his reign, but overall he’s a much more humble Dorm Leader than his predecessors. He’s well aware of his own faults and regularly apologizes for them, citing that he is still learning and improving every day. This courage has earned him admiration among Heartslabyul students.
His way of upholding the rules is more serious compared to Ace’s loose interpretation, but is also more fair compared to Riddle’s blind collaring. Deuce has certain punishments tied to specific violations, which scale in accordance with their severity--and he’s always double checking and reevaluating them to see if they need to be updated.
He values academic achievement, but also emphasizes the importance of friendship and self improvement. Deuce makes it a point to approach students that may seem lonely or struggling in school and start a conversation--since he personally knows how hard it can be to open up or to ask for help. If he can turn over a new leaf and change for the better, then he believes his students can, too!
He starts raising chicks along with the Heartslabyul flamingos and hedgehogs! They really love Deuce, and make it a habit of following him in a single file line whenever he comes to visit them, or takes them out for Unbirthday parties. Sometimes he’ll be sipping tea, only for a chick to pop out of his tea cup, or they’ll just chill in a nearby (red) rose tree.
Deuce definitely still has his delinquent side to keep in check, but for the most part, he doesn’t lash out or invoke his powers as Dorm Leader unless he, his friends, or his students are seriously provoked. Deuce will fiercely defend his allies until the bitter end!
He often worries about his performance as a Dorm Leader, so he’ll ask others for feedback and suggestions on how he can do better. Deuce shares these concerns with his mom over the phone, who reassures him that he’s doing very well for himself and reminds him that she’s proud of how far he has come.
“As the new Dorm Leader of Heartslabyul, I swear that I will faithfully carry on Rosehearts-senpai’s vision! If you will have me... New students, let’s work together to build a new future--a future founded on the principles of the Queen of Hearts!”
Every new Savanaclaw student will walk into their dorms to find a small potted cactus in each one, along with a blunt note welcoming them to their new dorm. They’re Jack’s welcome gifts to the new kids--plus, they help to liven up the place!
A strong social hierarchy is adhered to, with the younger students paying their respects to the older ones. However, it’s not based on age, but rather the respect a person accumulates through their various achievements. Jack himself serves as a prime example by being a model student and Dorm Leader, making him the pride of Savanaclaw. He even has a fan club come to his track meets to cheer him on!
Jack has a strong policy of using fair means to complete assignments, and he has no qualms with reporting you if he suspects any foul play! That means no cheating during exams and battles (or even picking on someone smaller than them)--the students risk facing punishment from both their teachers and Jack!
He doesn’t advocate for needless violence--he stresses that it should only be used as a last resort. If a brawl breaks out, he’ll be the first person to rush onto the scene and break it up! Afterwards, Jack will listen to the perspectives of the involved parties before (usually) telling them they’re both stupid in the wrong and making them apologize to one another.
He’s not the best when it comes to social events, but he tries to make an effort to organize little get-togethers to get the students comfortable with each other and with him, namely inviting them to join him for his morning jogs and training sessions. They stretch together, work out together, and take water breaks together!
He tries to encourage his students to get involved in clubs or sports (any kind of group activity, really). Jack makes it known that as cool as they may think it is to act like a lone wolf, there are times when you need to rely on and work with others to achieve a common goal--a lesson he learned himself in his younger days.
“... Jack Howl. I’ll be working with you from now on. As long as you work hard and play fair, you’ll be able to survive at NRC. And if you’re struggling... You can always rely on your Dorm Leader to support you.”
Epel opens up to the Pomefiore first years with a shout in his brackish country accent. Once he has everyone’s attention, he clears his throat and politely continues as though nothing strange happened, telling his tale--about how he was out of his element, but soon found himself thanks to his friends and the stern teachings of the last Dorm Leader. He vows to do the same for the new first years!
Epel’s vision for his dorm is “a Pomefiore that is accepting of all kinds of beauty”. He doesn’t discriminate if there’s an odd duck out--rather, he’ll approach them separately and help coach them through their own strengths and weaknesses. No matter how rough around the edges they may be, he knows that there’s something beautiful inside each and every person.
He’s not afraid to get dirty! Epel doesn’t mind messing up his hair or makeup or getting mud on himself if it means he can help others out in the process. At first, it’s strange for the Pomefiore students to see their Dorm Leader in a state of disarray, but consistently seeing Epel go out of his way to do good encourages them to do the same.
He’s big on stressing internal beauty to his students, likening it to an apple. (In fact, Epel often uses fruit as metaphors to explain difficult concepts to those in Pomefiore). “An apple is not fit to eat if it is rotten inside,” he explains, slicing one open cleanly with a knife.
Epel’s not as uptight or stuck on rigid social customs as Vil was, so he won’t force his students to sit through ballet or dining lessons... but he does expect them to show others proper courtesy. If they don’t, then there’s nothing stopping Epel from wailing on them to remind them who’s top dog around here--and he’ll relish in the victory.
He has a strange reputation among his dorm members. Some admire his willingness to act “outside the box”, while others call him weird for not sticking to the “conventional” idea of beauty. Still, no matter what others may think of Epel, they all bend a knee to the new queen, and his fierce strength and determination.
“There’s a lot of you standing here today. Look around. These are the faces of your classmates. Now look in a mirror. This is you. When you leave this school in 4 years’ time, none of you will look the same. You will have matured into the finest versions of yourselves--but even as you grow and change... Keep your roots close to you, and never forget them.”
Sebek as a Dorm Leader is a force to be reckoned with. Not only does he have a commanding presence thanks to his imposing stature and booming voice, but he has an entire legion of loyal followers! Sebek’s energy and arrogance are infectious, spreading to his students like a wildfire started by a strike of lightning. It’s a scarily common occurrence for Sebek to whip up an impassioned mob at sporting events--
He’s so proud to have inherited this important title from his young master--and because of that, Sebek holds both himself and his students to a high standard! He constantly reminds them that “Diasomnia is the best of the best!” and will not tolerate lagging behind. If anyone is unfortunate enough to step out of line, they’re in for a hellish boot camp headed by Sebek himself with lessons borrowed from his own time training under Lilia!
He does ALL the things--the very definition of overachieving. Sebek’s always the first to volunteer to help out, the first to leap at the chance to lead a committee or to assist in planning a school event. His eagerness to take charge isn’t done in kindness, it’s only to flex how large and in charge Diasomnia is to the rest of NRC!
Sebek challenges his students every chance he gets, pushing them to hone their abilities and sharpen their skills even further--and once they’ve hit that pinnacle of perfection, he can look on with his chest puffed out like a proud father. Even so, he won’t take credit for their accomplishment--it’s something that they worked toward by themselves, while Sebek thinks of himself as “the push” that was needed for them to learn.
Out of habit, Sebek regularly sends back reports to the Valley of Thorns to reassure Lilia and Malleus that he is looking after the new kids at their alma mater very well! He’s sure to include pictures of his work as proof--and he’s always wearing the largest of smiles in each one.
He rises bright and early every day to tend to his Dorm Leader duties! Everyone knows when Sebek has just gotten up because he shouts his morning affirmations to the painting of Malleus that he has up on his wall. (“GOOD MORNING, YOUNG MASTER!! I am heading out now to carry on the noble legacy of Diasomnia!!”) In his head, he likes to imagine that Malleus is wishing him a good day and thanking him for his efforts--
“The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. You, students of Diasomnia, are the FUTURE! It is you who shall lead the masses out of the dark ages and into a golden era of accomplishment and discoveries. You are all destined for greatness--so COME!! Have faith! Raise your magical pens!! And join me in paving the way forward!!”
