I think the general vibe with the Addamses is healthy masculinity. Like, Gomez is a very masculine guy in many ways—suits, cigars, swords—but there’s nothing very toxic about it. He openly worships his wife and he likes dressing nice. I KNOW that man has good hygiene (or the Addams version of good hygiene. I feel like it’s generally good, but they’re very into things like damp caves and bogs and illnesses so I’m not sure what impact that has on like, showering lol)
Billy would be saying and doing things that would make Morticia realize that he’s got a warped perception of masculinity. Right after he moves in, he would still be practicing all the habits and survival mode things he’s developed because of Neil, and he wouldn’t be allowing himself to actually relax and fully enjoy picking his cologne or dressing nicely. Just being in an environment where the man of the house is constantly doting on his wife and where the other masculine figures are
-a guy who somehow generates enough electricity to light up a lightbulb with his mouth
-a 7? Foot tall butler who mostly groans and shakes his head
-a hand
-a kid who plays with dynamite in the house and has a pet octopus
-and a pile of hair with a hat and sunglasses
Would make Billy realize that there’s a lot more to life than the narrow worldview his father tried to force him into, and he would become way more receptive to people trying to help him become more himself.
Morticia would make comments about how he’s such a nice young man, how he’s so helpful, etc. she would talk about how to woo someone and be romantic, and she would tell stories about things that Gomez has done to sort of be like “hey my extremely wealthy husband can do these things so you can too.”
