Because I want to do a lot of illustrations for my book, I decided it was time to make a new method of creating backgrounds. Anyone who knows me knows I hate drawing straight lines. So, I've been learning how to use Blender (the 3D model program, not the kitchen appliance). Each piece of this scene was modeled by someone else, and I puzzle pieced it together, lighted it, and rendered it. The final versions in my illustrations will have color and more detail, but I'm pretty happy with where I ended up. This was a day of work, which may have been the same amount of time or less of drawing...and I think it looks cleaner.

So I did a vendors market with prints of my art today. It was so much fun, I can’t wait to do it again! Who knew I would enjoy that aspect of art so much? I didn’t sell a lot, but I may have some commissions in the future. I’m also hoping to sign up for art fairs next year!!

During a winter hiatus from the Edge, Hiccup goes off exploring the icy wastes. He finds more than he bargained for when a witch attempts to steal his soul. Now an emotionless husk, Hiccup must depend on Astrid and Gothi to delve deep within him and unlock the aspects of his personality he’d rather keep hidden.

Meanwhile, the rest of the riders test Hiccup on how emotionless he really is.

I guess I was really excited about this fic, considering I did a cover for it! It’s good to dip back into the How to Train Your Dragon fandom!
