i think it's beyond fucked that medical professionals expect you to deal with misery as long as it's not actually killing you. even when there are procedures and therapies and medications, doctors always wait until the very last second until it's actually life or death. preventative medicine is so hard to find. sick and disabled people are forced to live with misery simply because we're not actively dying.

nobody should have to sit around miserable just because they *technically* can survive this. is it really even surviving when you can't function?

so far Julien is my favorite c4 character because, like me, he becomes immediately suicidal when faced with difficult situations. maybe throw in a little substance abuse to mix it up, but no healthy coping mechanisms whatsoever, go off king

one of the things that is so hard about suicidal ideation is that it’s really difficult to talk to people about it, because anyone who cares about you enough to listen is also going to be very uncomfortable listening to you talk about how you wish you were dead

I want to know what happens when a disabled kid is chosen in the Reaping. (Don’t tell me there aren’t any disabled kids in Panem; we’ve always existed and we always will.)

What happens to a kid with glasses when the glasses get knocked off during the bloodbath at the cornucopia?

What happens to a kid who was taking medication every day at home?

What happens to a depressed kid when all their worst fears about the world are validated?

What happens to an autistic kid who’s forced into bright lights and loud noises and cameras and asked to be likable?

What happens to a kid who uses mobility aids?

And yes, I know the answers. But I want to see these stories told. It matters how a society treats disabled people.
