Portraits by Gerrard Gethings. Since cats - unlike dogs - do not actually grow to look like their humans, Gethings had to find cats willing to sit for a portrait and then go around and ask, ‘Hey, does anyone look like this cat?’. Most people were volunteered by friends and family, and everyone said yes.
“Some of them were a bit confused by the idea. But I’d already done it with the dogs, and cats are a lot better-looking than dogs, on the whole. It’s easier than saying, ‘You look like a French bulldog.’ If you say, ‘You look like a cat,’ I think people are quite flattered.”
