“Man, that’s a loaded question! Formalities can be such a pain, huh? Ahh, I guess I’d pick the one I know would make sure to grab me if I were to pass out. You know, assuming it were me getting married. It’s a tough choice…”

Yes, it was an unfair question since Zeke was one of Isaac’s choices, but Isaac trusted his counsin to think objectively whereas Miles wouldn’t be able to. “You do raise a good point though…If something happened I’m not sure if Miles could catch me if I fainted, or even take my place in a duel. It doesn’t happen much anymore, but someone can challenge the groom to a duel on the wedding day and the Best Man is expected to jump in if the Groom fails, as one last line of defense.” Isaac certainly couldn’t imagine the Hlaf-elf wielding a sword properly for a fight.

Zeke smirked the earlier modesty completely gone he shrugged as he responded “Weeeelll, I am stronger than I look, and I’m pretty good at sword fighting. I’ve had some great teachers!” He pressed a thumb against his own chest “You don’t gotta make me the Best Man, but I can still jump in, maybe the backup Best Man? That should be a thing.”

Don’t tell me that the kind ones aren’t strong.

They’ve been thrown in fires but that has only hardened the iron in their veins. They’ve learned how to protect the ones they love even if it means taking the punches for them. They’ve used their warm hearts and helpful hands to reach out to people instead of hiding behind walls of hatred. They have helped guide the lost ones home because they know what it feels like to be caught in a storm.

It takes a great deal of courage to love freely, to give even though sometimes people won’t return the favor, and to hold out a hand without knowing whether someone will choose to grasp it or not.

The ones who reach out are stronger than you’ll ever know, because they’ve stared the misery of this world in the eye and instead of losing hope, have decided to just be kind.
