In regards to the living, when a Shekintari slips out of Ataria it will seek to take the form and shape of anything or anyone it comes across or hunts.
Some Shekintari will basically consume memories and fragments of souls to keep their disguises to escape from being forced to form back together with the Shekintari collective in Ataria.
Ataria is half a cross roads and a corridor where the dead can travel through to other realms and dimensions. Shekintari used to be one whole of a shadow cast off or a large fragment of a long dead necromantic type of god.
This cast off or fragment shattered and these shards are trying to consolidate back together but many are choosing not to and there is conflict amongst themselves & the traveling dead.

Tested out the -- 4v version of Midjourney AI
It does need some fixing ( the bot is having a bad bad bad day) , it understands a bit better now , I am testing old prompts to see what this never version can pull and I am impressed.
I asked Midjourney to generate this 1st image generation of Merri Voidborn & it hit the nail on the head.
