Crying Hugs. [ Accepting! ]
She hadn’t said a word, it was only silence. A familiar kind of quiet. One the two commonly had and were happy with. They didn’t need to openly express their company. Aomori enjoyed Kou’s presence, be it chattering through her hands or reading the sentences they typed up.
But it’s different now. The air is tight. Aomori had seen her friend do lots of things. Picking fights with others, get swept into the middle of a mosh pit, keeping up their defensive wall.
It never occurred to her until now.
She hadn’t seen Kou cry. Not even when they were children.
Purple hues observed the others movement. Tense, frustrated. She watched as Kou’s jaw clenched and their face flushed. Tear stains smeared on their cheeks as they practically curled in on themselves.
Aomori’s tongue was caught in her throat. Nothing came out of her mouth, she didn’t know what to say. Her neutral expression was cracked. Eyebrows furrowed and lips curled into a concerned frown. She froze at the sight of someone like Kou becoming so...Vulnerable. They looked like a scared animal, the ones who were just confused and cornered.
A scarred hand carefully reached out to Kou’s back, to offer some kind of comfort. If not verbally, then physically. However the action was cut short by two arms wrapping around her waist, squeezing tightly. The others body pressing into hers.
Her muscles stiffened as she gasped, surprised by the sudden contact. She had nearly jerked away from the hug. Shuffling uncomfortably, the taller girl took a moment to grow accustomed to the hug. The air of the room becoming stuffy.
Aomori exhaled the breath she had been holding. Calming words running through her own head, in an attempt to ground herself. For Kou’s sake.[ “You’re okay. They’re not hurting you.” “Breath.” “You’re safe. They’re safe.” ]
She settled into the warmth, scarred hands resting on Kou’s back. They placed their chin on her shoulder as Aomori muttered.
