“Y/n! Are you ready to go? We are running behind.” Your beautiful mom yelled from her room a little ways away from you. Her room was small, but so was yours. You weren't exactly poor, you just live in a small 4 bedroom apartment that could barely hold everything your family owned. Your brothers all ran out of their rooms in their suits, lining up in front of mother so she could plant a kiss on each of their heads. They then ran around. Mom was finishing her hair when dad came in checking his pocket watch which took a lot of his work earnings.
The Ackermans were extremely wealthy. Their family has been for generations past their current time. But ever since your father got that promotion a few days ago, he was now able to attend the great parties they would always throw. “Come on everyone, lets get going.” She exclaimed as your three brothers ran out of their rooms to the door. Your mom put her fancy evening coat which was a belonging to one of her long time rich friends. They let your family use some of their earnings to look the best for this party. They go to them overnight so it wasn't an unusual thing.
But tonight was important. Their youngest son, Levi Ackerman, would be looking for a woman who he will be marrying within a few months. So tonight, females of all young ages dressed to their highest just to impress the wealthy prince. Which was highly difficult. Your family got out of the stage coach that picked you up. Stepping out was something only you had dreamed of. The classical music that could only be made from the sounds of pianos, violins, flutes, and many more.
The steps were shiny and shimmering with the decor placed all around. Woman stood around with gorgeous dresses and lovely smiles. They were escorted up and walked into the huge ballroom. You walked up the stairs before your family could come after you, looking at all the gold and silver. Flowers and golden rails. The smell of nothing but pine and pure party aura filled your nose. Money was the only smell that was new.
It didn't take you long to find the prince. He stood almost in the middle with young girls all around him. He had a small smile on his face but had more of a scowl. He looked like he was stubborn. He was very beautiful though. His dark hair and grey eyes could be seen from the second story balcony where you looked upon the entire ballroom hall. It wasn't until he looked upwards to see you staring was he actually focused. You did your best to look away, rolling your family down the steps.
Towards the bottom they stood talking and conversing with other families, making friends. You smiled and watched closely behind. “Hello? I’m Historia Reiss, From the east.” A girl said from behind you. She had on a pink dress with pretty frills around her waist. She was obviously from money. “Y/n L/n. From the...uhh.” You hesitated “I know you’re not from around here, but if you don't want to say it, you don't have to. I have so many friends from the city, a wondrous place it is.” Her smile was enough to make you feel like you could fit in way more than ever.
“I can talk with you if you'd like?” “That would be great, thank you!” You replied. It wasn't soon until a boy came up to you. His hair was dark and his eyes were a soft brown. “Hello there, Marco Bodt. From the French colony.” You smiled and shook his hand. “Pleasure to meet you, I’m Y/n L/n from...the east.” You looked towards Historia. She smiled at you and continued. The three of you began to talk and laugh, getting to know each other.
You felt a pair of eyes on you, you turned your head to see Levi glaring at Marco from a mile away. He held his cup rather oddly as he sipped it and spun dirty looks your way, catching your eyes and relaxing a bit. You smiled lightly and turned back around. “I have to go unfortunately, but I’d love to stay and talk. Ciao for now.” He walked away. Historia was grabbed away by a girl with brown hair, tugged across the ballroom floor to a small corner. There you were left all alone.
“Your friends leave you all alone, eh?” was said from behind you. You turned to see Levi standing in front of you, staring into your eyes, nothing else. He sipped his drink again. “I guess so, unfortunate.” “Extremely unfortunate. Say, who are you.” Levi said as he gave his drink to one of the servers to walk around. “Y/n L/n, from the east.” He lightly smiled and held out his hand. “Levi Ackerman, from the north and great wealth before me. Shall we dance, it would be a real shame not to greet my guests with my most exquisite form of hospitality.” The way he spoke sent shivers up your spine. You put your hand in his, shaking a bit from nerves.
Everyone from around you was staring now. He pulled you to the middle and kissed your hands. From high above on the second floor sat his mother, father, aunt, uncle, and grandmother. They all looked down at you, talking to each other. “You can tell she's not from the east, a girl that thin must be a city girl.” She grimaced. “How can you tell?” His mother queried. “Just look at that dancing. Her waltz in horrible. An embarrassment.”
He put his hands with yours and you tried to follow his movement but couldn't. “I’m sorry, we don’t go to formal occasions much.” You frowned. He lifted up your chin and stared into your eyes. “Dont fret it, love. Just do as I do and you'll be fine.” He would step aside and so did you. Eventually you fell into the rhythm and danced like you had been doing it your entire life. His easy movements and the smell of mint and deep musk is what what it way more cherishable. The waltz eventually ended and he placed a kiss upon your hand with a small smile before you curtsey’ed and walked away rather quickly.
You found yourself walking into the halls, knowing any moment in that room would cause more of your stupid lying. You wandered and wandered until you got out to a garden. There was big bushes with flowers and benches. The perfect garden. You put your hands on the balcony railing and breathed. Wishing you had never came, knowing that lying is worse that just not coming at all. It was all thoughts until you heard a voice from behind you. “Looking at my garden, I see?” You turned around, jumping a bit. “Why did you leave? I was going to talk to you.”
“I just needed some fresh air. Pressure is high.” You cursed yourself for saying that out loud. But then again you already lied to the boy so there's so turning back now. He chuckled. “Pressure?” He leaned his forearms against the balcony, looking at you with a small smirk. Man, he was attractive. His grey eyes up close were so nice to your eyes. “Say, Y/n. Have you ever been to the city?” He asked, looking up at the stars. “Yes, oh yes. Loads of times. We go there to find coats and some dresses to donate to charities.” He softly chuckled and looked back over at you. “Really? What’s its like? I’ve always wanted to visit but mother won't let me go.” He frowned. “It’s not as amazing as it is here.”
You two exchanged smiled before you continued on. You two were communicating the entire time. You would walk around the garden and hallways chatting. And when you heard an official coming to look for Levi, you both hid, giggling like small children. You two would play around and talk about the things you've always dreamed of. A crush soon began to grow for Levi as the both of you conversed. “You truly are a really amazing person, Y/n. It’s nice to have a friend. Or at least one who wants to be friends with you.”
“Do you consider me your friend, Levi? I’m honored.” You spoke back in a fancy manner. He chuckled. “I most certainly do.” This brought a blush to your cheeks and a small flutter in your heart. You hadn't noticed you were so close to Levi until you felt his smooth cool breath hitting your nose. His eyes were even closer now. They were grey like gunmetal, shimmering and shining, even in the dark of night outside in the garden.
His lips were so close your yours as he took in your neck and face. His hands found your cheeks, holding them in his soft hands. Flutters were now all over your body, lighting up your skin. “Your not like those silly girls in that ballroom. You’re much more.” You couldn't speak. You were too captivated to talk. His lips slowly found yours, igniting something within both of you. His lips were soft and moved slow over yours, making it difficult to pull away, but neither of you wanted to. Levi finally gained the strength to pull away, leaving you flustered. It wasn't long before he went in again, this time with more passion. His tongue slowly licked your bottom lip, asking for an entrance, you gave in. He went slow but a you too fell deeper, he got more intense. He moved his lips down your jaw and to your neck where he was careful not to place a love bite, as much as he wanted to. He eventually had to pull away, knowing he'd take it way too far if he hadn't.
He checked his watch and noticed time had gone by. You caught a glimpse and saw it said 12:00. You backed up and flattened out your dress before you ran. Your mom told you to be back to the entrance by 12:00. Levi called after you but you kept running, as much as you wanted to turn back you couldn't. Your mother was standing by the carriage door as she saw you running. But Levi had taken a shortcut and was right behind you. He grabbed your wrist, pulling you back around. “You can't leave so soon. Theres still so much-” He noticed the carriage. It wasn't a stage coach from the east. It was a city type one. He looked at you ion disbelief. You teared up, letting go of him and getting in without another word. The coach drove off and he stood there in utter shock, watching it leave.
Levi felt his heart crush. He had finally found someone he really liked, but he knew his parents would never let it happen. Tears were flowing from his eyes but not noises were apparent. He noticed guests starting to leave and decided to go back in. He wiped his eyes and walked in, not in the mood for anyone to talk to him. “Prince Levi!” one of the girls said, trying to grab his arm. He respectfully shook them off and went up to sit with his family, his seat being in the middle of his mother and father.
“Levi, son. Find anyone?” His father spoke. He stayed silent, irritation present in his mood. “Son?” His father touched his shoulder. Levi smacked his hand away and stormed off, not at all in the mood. He went to his room and closed the door harshly. he sat at the end of his bed, crying again. This was the only girl he’d ever had fallen for. Everyone else felt like nothing to him. But what was worse is he felt like he's known her for ages. The door clicked and in walked the one person he'd ever talk to. His grandmother. “Levi, son. What’s wrong?” She sat beside him. He hesitated before talking but decided to anyway. “I fell for a girl who turned out to be someone I’ll never get to be with. Grandmother, please. What do I do?” “I know who your talking about. And the best thing is to go find her. If your parents want to argue, then that's them. But what I learned from your grandfather before he died was that money doesn't determine love. If you really love someone, then their life shouldn't determine whether or not they deserve your love.”
Levi smiled a bit and thought it back through. All those girls in that ballroom never made him want to fall in love. They were all the same. But this one was different to him. She looked different and talked different. Levi had fallen harder than he thought. “Go find her, Levi. I’ll help you.” She said, getting up with a groan from old age. “We will go into town tomorrow.” Levi hummed. “Wait. How do you know she's from the city?” She chuckled. “Levi, don't go for the neck, you'll make a dark spot and if you thought I wasn't eavesdropping, you were wrong.” Levi gaped before smiling with her, embarrassment flooding his body hearing as she witnessed the kiss.
The next day rolled around and you stayed in bed all day, looking out the window, just daydreaming. You had your first kiss with Prince Levi, but it hurt that he found out you lied. “Y/n! You got a letter.” Your mom yelled. She slipped it under your door. You groggily got up and brought it to your bed, opening it.
You must be asking why I’m writing to you, but it only makes sense. I can't help but think about you. You left at such a bad time, leaving me all alone. I know I’ve only known you for a night, but you made my heart race. I feel so comfortable around you, which is special. It’s hard for me to open up to new people, especially people who I might be marrying. It’s difficult trying to fathom the lies I was fed, but they don't even matter. If you would just told me you were from the city, I still would've treated you the same. I found a person I can truly be myself around. You are a complete dream. I do not care if my parents support us or not. You are the only girl out of all those nobles that gets me. You laugh with me and talk with me. I feel like I've known you my entire life. I just need to see you again. Your status doesn't matter, just please write back to me. I need to see you again, please.
Your heart was racing at high speeds from the amazing letter. This had made you feel better but still bad, you could never go back. “Y/n! Can you go into town and get us some bread for dinner?” Mother asked. You obeyed and grabbed some earnings to rush out into town. You went into the bread shop, rushing to the cashier. “I need 3 of the Rye bread please.” You looked in your pocket for the coins you had. “7.85.” Before you could put the coins in his calloused hand, one stopped you. The hand was Levi. He pushed your hand out of the way and put the coins on the table, making you put yours back. He put the bread into a bag and gave it to you, Levi holding it for you. “Did you get my letter?” “Yes, I did. I was going to write back but I couldn't decide.”
He looked stunned. “Why not?” You looked into his eyes, the same one from last night. “ Because, I’m not a rich girl from the East. Your family won’t accept me.” He grabbed your hand. “They don't have too. I accept you. Thats enough. Please just come with me.” You looked at his pleading eyes and found it difficult to say no. “What about the bread?” “My butler will bring it by just come with me please.” You finally gave in and said yes. He laced his hand with yours and his grandmother and butler came over. “Take this to the same place you delivered the letter.” The butler nodded and went off with the bread. “How did you find my house?” He brought your hand to his lips, kissing it. “I have sources, now come on.” He pleaded as you both walked to the stage coach. His was way fancier than yours. He held the door open for his grandmother and you. His grandmother gasped when she saw your face.
“No it can't be?! Can it?” She was puzzled. “What? What is it?” Levi queried. “Oh. Nothing. Forgive me.” Levi wasn’t fully convinced but just one squeeze of your hand made him attach his attention back to you. He saw your face and let the weird situation pass, but his grandmother couldn't stop staring at you. Once you got to the same place your were at yesterday, you noticed how pretty it looked in the daytime as well.
Levi helped you out of the stage coach, holding your hand tightly with his. You walked in and into the dining hall where another family was seated. Levi’s aunt was smoking a cigerette in a fancy holder. She sent dagger glares your way the second the door opened. You were behind Levi, holding his hand while you hid in fear. He pulled out a seat for you and sat you down. Sitting right beside you. “Thank you.” “Of course.”
So many eyes were on you but yours and Levi’s hand holding made you feel a bit more comfortable. “Hello there, I’m Lorraine Ackerman and this is Kirkland Ackerman. It’s a pleasure to meet you, and you are?” You took a deep breath, feeling Levi squeezing your hand with an its-okay look. “Y/n L/n. Its so very nice to meet you as well. I’m grateful to be here.” A broken glass was heard. Everybody looked over to the guest who had dropped their glass. They had a look of shock, eyes filling with tears as they stood up not taking their eyes off you.
“Where have you been? Where have you been hiding for 18 years?”
“Excuse me?” You replied. Levi held tight onto your hand. “The Vanderbilts lost their child when she was 5. The child was stolen but nobody could find it. Its name was Y/n. I remember exactly. She had a small crown imprinted in the back of her neck. If it’s not much of a bother, could I please check?” You nodded and stood up, tense, you walked over. Her hands were shaking as she lightly pulled your hair over. Rubbing her finger over the small spot that was scarred with an imprint. It was light but you could easily tell. She gasped and backed up. “Y/n. You are the Vanderbilts lost child. Oh my goodness. May I please take you with me. I need to bring you back.” You were stunned. “Back where?” “Back to the Vanderbilt’s of course. They will be overjoyed.”
You looked around and saw nothing but shocked faces. You felt embarrassed, so many eyes on you and you had never known. “I-I uh.” You started to breath heavily, trying to form words, difficult. Levi stood up, directing you out of the room to calm you down. He closed the doors behind him, standing with shock. “I can’t believe it.” Levi said before coming closer to you. Levi couldn't comprehend words either, he was shocked.
It had been a day and you stayed in Levi’s castle. You slept in the guest room but that didn't stop Levi from coming to your room to exchange a kiss or two with words of comfort. Today was the day that you were going to see your actual parents. But thoughts circled your mind as you thought about who your other parents were. Did they take you from your old family? Is this all a setup? What is your real family like? Those thoughts were pushed away when Levi’s mother noticed you standing on the balcony, walking over to talk to you.
“I think I remember Levi and a small girl dancing at one of our parties years and years ago. What do you think?” You looked at her before actually thinking about it. It flashed. You felt like a frantic memory had appeared. In your head you could see a tiny boy with raven hair chasing you around the pillars of a very familiar place. The ballroom. You looked at Levi’s mother in shock, she nodded. “Levi was devastated when he thought you died. He wouldn't eat for weeks but we forced him to go on with his duties.” You smiled lightly. “What really hurt us was we had already arranged a marriage between the both of you. You too were practically attached at the hip.”
“Thank you so much, Mrs. Ackerman. Thank your for letting me stay and giving me your kind words, it means so much because now I might actually find my real family.” She smiled. “Yes, of course. The Vanderbilts will be overjoyed at this. Hopefully moving on with the wedding plans of course. The thought of an arranged marriage scared you, but the fact that it was Levi made you feel a bit better.
The stage coach arrived and everyone got in separate carts. Levi, his mother, his father, and you in one, while His grandmother, aunt, and uncle were seated in the other. The ride was long but Levi holding your hand the entire way made it go by quicker. It was the way that he would rub circles on the back of your hand with his thumb which made you feel so calm and relaxed. You were anxious to meet these ‘Vanderbilts’ because all that was said about them was that they were very noble and happy people.
Arriving at the very large castle, Levi stepped out helping you in the process. The butlers came out and greeted everyone. One in particular stopped when their eyes met you. You hid behind Levi a bit before they got the hint by Levi’s irritated glare. They bowed and brought you in, leading you in to appear at a balcony that the two nobles stood at. The Ackermans were taken to the dining hall to be seated. Levi didn't want to leave you but did anyways. The butlers opened the doors and the two nobles turned around hesitantly.
The father met his eyes that he shared color with yours. He gasped and started to tear up. The mother walked towards you slowly, turning you around with shaking hands to find the imprint. Luckily, Levi’s mother gave you a dress that fit your figure and personality beautifully. She gasped and stepped back, gesturing her husband to walk forward. You turned around to see them both sharing happy smiles with tears soaking their eyes.
The mother went in with an embrace that felt so warm and inviting. Your thoughts flashed before your eyes. Everything came back to memory. The fancy garden parties where you and Levi would sit and play with the flowers. The way your father always danced with you at the parties to make you feel special. The large closets of beautiful dresses that Levi always complemented you in. Now thinking about it, Levi loved you since you were children but never knew what love itself was.
You hugged back and noticed your father had joined in too. She pulled back to give you a happy look while rubbing your arms. “You don't know how hard these past few years have been?” She chuckled. “I couldn't tell ya.” You replied while you both sniffled. It took a few more hugs before they could actually get to the dining hall.
The families talked and reunited to continue on the arranged marriage and welcome their daughter back into their loving arms. You stayed with your family who would visit with the Ackermans to discuss wedding plans. Your old family was taken into custody especially when they found out if was one of their biggest rivals when you were way younger. They had the you drugged and even erased your memory with trauma.
It is now 3 years into the future. Levi has loved you since the day you reunited. Your now happily married and get to drag on yours families into great wealth. Levi wants kids now, but I guess that's a part of part two......???
I really hope you enjoyed this because I strive to become a better writer as my work goes on, Thank you!
