Summer life is supposed to be relaxing and fun right? Weellll.. kinda. As a college student, Iâm poor. As a human, money is essential to provide for oneself. Therefore, as a human college student, one must work A LOT during the summer to make that $$. For this reason, my summer has not been as relaxing and fun as those in the past. However, just because I work 40 hours a week, doesnât mean I canât take a day off and hit the town with a friend every once in a while. Going to the park, singing disney songs, thrift store shopping, and eating crapes made me reminisce over the days of a complete lack of responsibility. Looking forward to a lot more days like these as the summer comes to a close.Â
From the top to the bottom:
Jean cardigan - ?$ - Momâs closet {borrowed and never given back}
Floral Tank - $12 - Old NavyÂ
Shorts - $22 - Old Navy
Adidas - $30 - TJ Maxx
âI love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night.âÂ
I love love love this movie. Itâs one of those classic stories that will never get old because it will always be applicable. But until recently, I had never really heard of, or cared to watch, this movie. However, it is one of Mindyâs {from the Mindy Project} favorite movies, so my sister and I had to give it a shot. While I was wary of the R rating, it did not take long for this movie to sweep me off my feet. {I mean come on, Mike Wazowski, Anastasia, and Princess Leia all in one movie? What could be better than that?}Â
For those who many not know, I will provide a brief summary:
It is the classic tale of boy meets girl. The first time Harry meets Sally, they do not care for one another. The second time Harry meets Sally, she is convinced he does not remember her. And the third time Harry meets Sally, they form an unlikely friendship {but really it is pretty likely âcause, you know, we need plot}. It is through this friendship that the audience really gets to know, understand, and fall in love with the characters.Â
If you have not already seen the movie, please stop reading now and go watch it. Donât let the R rating stop you, youâve probably heard worse {nothing R rated is shown}. But seriously, go watch it. Itâs great.
For those of you who have seen it, I hope we are in agreement when I say this movie is seriously amazing. Now I was not the biggest fan of Meg Ryan in Youâve Got Mail, so I was kinda bummed when I found out she was the lead, {I totally thought I was going to be annoyed with her the entire time} but I was surprisingly a big fan of her character. Her interactions with Billy Crystal were so relatable and beautiful. There were times when I would audibly âawâ {like when they hugged it out after their fight on the street (I seriously believe hugs can solve anything, so it was truly magical)} and times when I would laugh {at literally all of Harryâs silly one liners, several of which Iâll include at the end of this post}. While it may be the classic tale of boy meets girl, it does not represent two classic people as they fall in love. The majority of the film was focused on their friendship as they helped the other recover from their breakup and encouraged each other to get back out into the dating world. The movie was so friendship focused that it actually took me aback when they got together in the end. While I may have been slightly upset that the writers veered back onto the classic Rom Com route, it actually made me fall that much more in love with the film. Harry realized throughout the film that he needed Sally. He didnât care that she had a pretty face or that the sex was amazing, he cared about the fact that they could laugh together and that at the end of the day, she was the one he longed to say goodnight to. It is a love like Harry and Sallyâs that I am looking for. Someone to laugh with. Someone with which the silence isnât awkward. Someone I couldnât imagine my life without. A love like Harry and Sallyâs.Â
Some of those witty one liners I was telling you about:
âIâve been doinâ a lot of thinkinâ, and the thing is, I love you.â -Harry {Boys, take a note out of Harryâs book. If you know it, say it.}
 âHeâs too tall to talk toâ -Harry {You guys donât understand, I relate to this on a spiritual level.}
âThe fact that you're not answering leads me to believe you're either (a) not at home, (b) home but don't want to talk to me, or (c) home, desperately want to talk to me, but trapped under something heavy. If it's either (a) or (c), please call me back.â -Harry
âIâm difficultâ -Sally {The words themselves, are not funny. But the way she says them, HILARIOUS. Go watch it. Seriously. Right now. For some odd reason it totally reminds me of a line Kate Hudson gives in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.}
âYeah, it only took three months.â -Harry âTwelve years and three months.â -Sally {Oh goodness, I hope it doesnât take that long.}
And the best quote of all: âI came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.â -Harry
Hey Hey Hey! Hope everyone has enjoyed this beautiful day so far, Sundays are always the best.Â
Sorry I have been absent the past couple of days. Kids Camp with my children was a blast as I spent more time in Godâs word than I had for a while. We had 17 kids go with us, 4 of which accepted Jesus into their heart! I also had the privilege of helping 6 girls from various churches accept Jesus into their heart. What a great week it was!
Starting out this next week, I wanted to bring as much vibrancy to the outside as was on the inside. Todayâs outfit from the top down:
Pink Necklace - $5 - Walmart {Came with matching earrings}
Jean Jacket - $? - ??? The Brand is New Look {Just one of those things that                  Iâve had forever and donât remember when it showed up}
White Dress - $9 - Originally from Old Navy {But I found it at the thrift store, Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Hidden Treasures}
Rings - $5 - Walmart {Package of 5}
Faith Bracelet - ? - Gift from a teacher
Floral Wedges - ? - Momâs closet {She never wears them and every time I do, I Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â beg for her to let me have them. I WILL crack her}Â
Hope everyone has a great week! I plan on reviewing the Percy Jackson series this week and a couple of movies Iâve come to love, so stay tuned!Â
Hooray for the USA! Happy Fourth of July all! I love this day because of all the family, community, and giggles. With that being said, because it is a holiday and all, Iâll keep this post short.Â
Todayâs Outfit from the bottom to the top:Â
Black flip flops - $2.50 - Old Navy
Romper - $8 - Target
White Studs {Not shown but theyâre there} - ~$3 - WalmartÂ
Today I kept it simple as this is actually the second outfit I wore {the first was a church shirt, red canvas shoes (Walmart), and jean shorts (Old Navy) as I marched with our float in the parade promoting Vacation Bible School}. Wish me luck as I head out with 19 of our churchâs children tomorrow for Kids Camp for four days.Â
Today showed me how truly amazing the Harry Potter fandom is. I had so many people compliment me on my outfit and freak out when they found out I was wearing a time turner necklace.Â
Todayâs outfit {from the top down}:
Black and white stud earrings - ~$3 - Walmart
Time turner necklace - $7 - Online {Possibly Amazon?}
Hogwarts t-shirt - $10 - Target {Sales man! Sales!}
Owl Bracelet - Â $? - A gift from a friend from her mission trip to India
Red shorts - $22 - Old Navy {way more money than I would usually spend on shorts, but they are seriously the most comfortable pants I have ever worn, I couldnât say no.}Â
Grey TOMS - ~$50 - Online www.toms.comÂ
Who else is a total Potterhead? Todayâs outfit was inspired by the story that has inspired so many. My mother was never a fan of the series for various reasons, so it wasnât a part of my childhood {we were more of a Star Wars, Lord of the Rings household. So really, no complaints} but the summer before my Junior year of high school I decided to finally cave in and see what all the fuss was about. Man, I was not disappointed. It was a beautifully intricate story that I wish I could read for the first time all over again. My only regret is not having read them with my peers as we grew up, but hey, better late than never right?Â
My current tv obsession. TV Landâs Younger starring Sutton Foster.
Warning: it is an all around inappropriate show, so if that type of stuff really bothers you, donât watch.Â
My sister and I live wildly busy lives in which we rarely see each other throughout the day. Being all over the place all day, all we want to do is kick off our shoes and relax by the end of the evening. Through this we have come to find that watching tv gives us something relaxing to do together. Our obsessions include but are not limited to: The 100, Downton Abbey, Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, Pretty Little Liars, Americaâs Got Talent, The Bachelorette, Riverdale, and most recently TV Landâs Younger.Â
The show is about recently divorced, 40 year old, Liza Miller who is wanting to reenter the workforce after having taken a break to raise her, now 18 year old, daughter. This proves difficult, however, when everywhere she applies does not want to hire her due to her age. So, Liza decides to fib and take 14 years off her age in order to be considered for an assistant job at the publishing house Empirical Press. Of course she gets the job, meets a cute 26 year old boy, makes friends with girls 14 years younger than her, has to lie to her coworkers, and reinvent herself as a 26 year old in 2015/2017.
If you donât want to see spoilers. Stop reading now and go binge watch the show like I did.Â
If you have already watched it and/or want to know my opinions on certain aspects of the show, continue on.Â
I would be lying if I said this show didnât make me uncomfortable on at least 2 {5+} occasions. But despite the inappropriateness of the show, I couldnât stop watching. It was so real and raw: the friendships {Liza and Kelsey are total friend goals, although season 4 looks like things are gonna get rocky. But totally goals seasons 1-3}, the relationships {Iâll talk about that later}, and her work life {an awesome job I would totally consider having, even just being an assistant would be cool for a little}. Itâs a funny show with just 20 minute episodes, so you can definitely justify watching 3+ of them in one sitting. Itâs shameful how quickly my sister and I finished off the 3 seasons that are on Hulu {because we watch via Hulu, we have to wait until season 4 is completely finished airing before we get to know what happens after Liza tells Kelsey the truth}.Â
Now, I hate love triangles because I seriously think if you really love someone, you wonât even think about going after someone else. However, I kinda see where Liza is coming from because sheâs tapped into both her 26 year old mind and 40 year old mind. That being said, cheating is still never okay {although he gave her a pass for #4, what was up with that?! How did you think that would end Josh?}! Looking past the cheating though, Josh was super sweet with Liza. He was very affectionate and encouraged her to be adventurous. But.. He wants kids and that is something Liza definitely does not want to have {for good reason}. It is for that reason, {and that he doesnât read, my poor heart just canât handle that fact} that I am NOT Team Josh. I am definitely Team Charles though! Just his name {flashback to my days of pining over Chuck aka Charles Bass. Who am I kidding? I am still as much in love with Chuck Bass now as I was five years ago}, his eyes {you could literally swim in them}, his smile {Eden, my sister, calls it a âcat smileâ because it curves up at the ends. (See also Austin Butler and Leighton Meester)}, his knowledge of books {I mean, come on!}, his stolen glances at her, his swoon worthy one liners, I could literally go on forever. Charles is so well suited for Liza and has got a total Sam Coulson {Never Been Kissed} thing goinâ on, I canât even deal. I just canât get enough of them. I think it also has to do, in large part, with the fact that they arenât physical with each other {at least for the most part}, they have both fallen for the other because of who they are, not because of what they look like {although I have no doubt that helps}. Plus Liza already loves his kids. The only thing standing in the way of them being together is her 26 year old lie {and Josh}. I am so scared that when that bomb is dropped, all my dreams are going to blow up.Â
Hereâs to patience, as I wait to see what season 4 holds. Both in the Kelsey department and the relationship department. Please please please let Josh be Lizaâs pancake and please please please let Charles be end game, even if that means I have to hold out a little longer.Â
SunDay Fun Day!! Today was church which means itâs Jesusâ day but also the day when no one asks me âwhy are you wearing a dress?â {Lets be honest, the answer is always because I didnât want to put on pants}. Todays outfit includes {from the bottom up}:
Brown sandals - $15 - Target
Orange dress - $6 - Old Navy
Jean Long Sleeve - $? - Borrowed from my motherâs closet like 3 years ago {she has seen me wear it, complimented it, didnât remember it being hers when I told her, and never returned, mwahaha}
Faith Bracelet - $? - Graduation gift from my cadet teaching teacher {love love loved working with/for her #kindergarten}
Gold/White Bracelet Duo - $5 - Pack of 5 from Charlotte Russe
White Bulky Studs {not pictured but theyâre there} - ~$3 - Walmart
Hope you all had a perfect day and got out and enjoyed the sun as its supposed to rain the next couple of days where Iâm at. Fingers crossed my favorite holiday does not get rained out!
Oh! And Iâm finally reading the 5th Percy Jackson book, The Last Olympian. They were super popular during my childhood, but because my siblings were obsessed with them, I refused to be. Entering into Freshman year though, some of my closest friends are book lovers and were appalled when I didnât understand their PJ references. I was yelled at every time they would reference it and then get upset when they remembered I wouldnât understand their {genius} reference. I will create an official Percy Jackson post whenever I finish the entire series, so stay tuned!
An Introduction of Me to You.
Hello all! This is me writing about anything and everything, simply because I can and Tumblr said I could. But its mostly about my life: what Iâve been up to, what Iâve learned, what movies/books/songs Iâm currently crushing on, etc. You name it and Iâll probably annoy you with it at some point.
Hello fashionistas! Regrettably, I am not one of you, but I strive to be. For that reason, I have mainly created this page as a source of accountability. To my dismay I have little to none artistic ability, but an influx of creative ideas that need to be channeled into something positive. Fortunately {or unfortunately, however you may look at it} I have decided the best channel would be via the fashion that ensues itself into my everyday life. I first came upon this idea when a close friend of mine boasted about not having worn the same outfit twice in the same semester, while she may have repeated pieces of clothing within each individual outfit, the outfit as a whole remained new. Jealous of her abilities and {lets be honest} closet, I looked to my own and decided I would never be able to do the same. Upon further analysis, I have come to realize it is not a lack of resources but rather a lack of putting creativity into my âstyleâ. Often times I wear the same seven outfits on repeat every week because they are my favorite. Yet the goal of this page is to make sure that does not happen any longer. I will be putting myself out there for 30 days {minus the week I spend working at a childrenâs camp} and we will see where it goes from there. Thank you for joining me on this wild ride we call style. {Credit where credit is due. I will provide price$ and ownership on each piece of clothing (shoes, jewelry, and bags included).}
Hello readers! Thankfully, I am one of you or my life would be completely void of all adventure and romance. I will frequently update you on what book Iâve finally gotten my hands upon and occasionally those I have already read.
Be prepared to know way to much about me. Letâs get this thing started.
