Apathy has anyone ever been even remotely interested in you as a creature and how would you feel if they were
Like not wanting to kiss you but like. Study you under a microscope
"I would not like to be studied under a microscope."
No-one told me this wait pause everyone wait
"Hm?" [It raises an eyebrow. Though, technically, it can only raise the one.]
I EXPECTED a CREATURE I thought that much was clear
"There are other creatures within that pit."
I shot a mind for you and then I got told you weren’t in the pit what a scam
"I am clearly not in the pit anymore, I don't know what you expected."
i think i'd punt you. as a treat
[It squints at you, suspicious of your claim. It is like 6'1, good luck.]
I’d let you eat me. as a treat
"... I'm not hungry right now. Maybe another time, though I prefer the smaller things. I also have a specific way I like to catch my food, and this isn't exactly it."
You heard me
[It blinks. And then just returns to what it was doing.]
[...His clothes are lightly stained with blood, but it looks like it tried to wash the blood off and was ...mostly successful. It's good enough.]
why you so. augh
[It stops whatever it was doing and stares at you.] "Excuse me?"
*It feels as if something is watching this fight.*
-ζ
[Apathy is used to the feeling. It goes unnoticed.]
*Orion wanders, seeming fairly lost. Every now and then, star stops to check any Flora.*
I Wonder… what kind would he want?….
*At the moment, they stop to crouch by a group of dark red poinsettias. What were they even doing there?*
-@ofallthestarsabove
[Something was listening to him walk around, eventually seeing him. Usually, Apathy wouldn't go for bigger creatures, but they were getting desperately hungry.]
[So, he finds a place farther away yet still in sight of Orion and sits down, hiding most of his luminescent parts to the best of stars ability. All aside from his lure, of course.]
[And then they wait. He's hungry, but he can still wait. He must wait.]
*Star pulled at the ground, digging the flowers out with gentle effort. He needed those flowers, he wouldn’t leave without them!
After… an embarrassing amount of time, Orion finally succeeded in pulling them out whilst maintaining the roots. He stands slowly, softly rubbing their back as they did.*
oww….I need to be more careful. Guess it didn’t fully recover…
[Apathy keeps his eye on Orion, watching as they tugged at the flowers until they budged and were ripped from the earth. The time it took suggests he isn't the strongest. Might be bigger prey than what he is used to, but it seems bigger doesn't equal stronger.]
[Perfect.]
[Star waits for Orion to take notice of the singular glowing orb and hopefully get closer. He needs the other to get closer. He's so hungry, he needs this.]
*Upon seeing that he doesn’t really have a space to put it, Orion stuffs them into a pant pocket. So much for preserving the roots… Though, Orion seems content.*
*Finally, they dust off their hands. Just as they turn to leave, the light catches star’s full attention. It felt so… familiar. Was it?… No, it couldn’t have been! But, maybe, the tides as turned for star. Slowly, Orion inches ever so closer.*
…Buddy? Buddy- Is… Is that you?
[Perfect. Just perfect.]
[He shifts slightly, no longer sitting but now kneeling. An easier position to lunge from, or just simply get up quicker from. They move very slowly, as to not scare Orion off with any sudden movement from the light.]
[Just a little closer, Orion...]
Buddy- It’s me! It’s- It’s Orion! You don’t have to be scared, I’m back.
*Orion nearly launches a fairly large stick at the glow source, instead kicking it back. Star goes a bit close, then falls onto their knees, gently patting his lap and thighs.*
C’mon buddy, are you upset with me? I promise I didn’t mean to leave you for that long, I swear.
[Perfect. Close enough.]
[Apathy moves, revealing every glowing part of him there is now. This is very clearly not what Orion thought it was. The extra glow reveals a grin on Apathy's face.]
[Orion doesn't get a moment to react as they lunge for stars throat.]
[But... he misses. His claws slash their chest instead.]
*Orion falls rearward, slamming his back straight on that stick star kicked back just a second ago. Jolting from agony, unable to mouth any concerns, he just tries his best to crawl back.*
you’re not my buddy you’re not my buddy fuckfuckfuck-
*Finally he’s able to at least flip himself over, standing wobbly. Star makes a run for it, zigzagging randomly and erratically in some poor attempt to lose the creature.*
[Apathy takes chase. Orion can hear him running behind them. Other than the sound of footsteps, he is dead silent.]
[The zigzagging is confusing Apathy, due it being so unpredictable. Orion is definitely putting space between the both of them as the footsteps get quieter and quieter.]
*By no means is he fast, but he can turn fast enough to get enough of a gap between them. He switches up the patterns practically every time Apathy would get a chance to hang onto it. Star’s back aches, so so much. But, he must run if he wishes to escape.*
*He had to make it out. For Rotary, for his mother’s true love, for the possibility of finding his Buddy, just for anything and anyone.*
[...The only sound of footsteps is Orion's own. Did he lose Apathy?]
[...]
[There's no glow around.]
*He pauses, leaning his back against a tree. He doesn’t even dare to move, trying to wait it out to see if it isn’t just some ploy.*
*He’s going to make it out, he’s going to see Rotary again- They’re gonna make it home safe.*
[The forest is silent.]
[Seems star lost Apathy.]
…
*They allow themselves a few more seconds before making a mad dash from where He remembers the portal. They’re going to do it! Star’s going home, they’re really going to go home! Tears of joy stream down his face has he pushes every limit to make it back.*
[All seems well.]
[...]
[Until Orion is suddenly tackled and pinned to the ground.]
[Apathy had hid and waited. They knew that was better than to chase, they weren't going to win a chase. He can win a waiting game, though. And that's exactly what he did.]
[He grins at Orion.]
*The tears immediately turn into those of anguish, just frozen in how foolish they could’ve been.*
NO NO PLEASE- PLEASE LET ME GO WHAT DO YOU WANT
*Orion pleads with all his might, trying to raise his legs to kick or bat away. Yet, it’s futile, his trembling body can barely lift his feet.*
"Why would I let you go? I'm not doing this for fun. I'm doing this for survival."
[He looks over Orion. They aren't like anything he's hunted before. But he can make an assumption of what needs to be done.]
[They move their hand to hold Orion's head in place and move the other hand to stars neck, ready to slash it with their claws.]
"You were just unlucky enough to be the first thing I saw in this darkness."
I CAN GET YOU SOMETHING ELSE!- JUST PLEASE- PLEASE LET ME GO I HAVE TO GET HOME PLEASE I NEED TO GET HOME
*Orion is practically breathless when his head is held down. All star can muster up in self defense is gently digging his knee into their torso. All their dreams… all of those fantasies of living out star’s days with Rotary. Visiting Minthe…no, his mother whilst the pet played joyously. It all seemed to fade away in such a short notice. He’d never be able to have those things. They’d never be able to say goodbye. They just couldn’t! I mean, how would they? Yet, all he did was cry. Cry for his own short-lived life.*
"I don't care."
[Apathy has no plans in dragging this out any further. This isn't a game to him, this is basic survival.]
[So, with that, they slash stars throat deep. That wound won't kill them immediately, but frankly, he doesn't give a shit. It'll weaken Orion enough to where Apathy can eat in peace, and that's the only thing he cares for right now.]
[Speaking of which, they grab his arm and take a bite.]
*He screams, all his anguish and sorrow mixed into one. He wouldn’t make it him. Star should’ve just listened the first time. Listened how they were supposed to.*
*Orion is left completely helpless as Apathy chows down on their arm. There’s a faint taste of Lemon juice, freshly squeezed. Blood drips and leaks like a flood, gold foil and streaks reminiscent all throughout. And despite being no-different from any other human, it tastes… elegant? There would be no clear way to describe it. Perhaps it was all that time roughing it outdoors.*
[The taste is odd. Nothing like he's ever had before, though he's never really had anything other than pit creatures before. Aside from the fish and that small animal he had in his time on the surface. They don't make a big deal out of it. It's food, that's all that matters.]
[Poor Orion. You're going to end up a mess. Apathy will eat as much as he needs and leave the body for whatever else may want the scraps.]
*Orion wanders, seeming fairly lost. Every now and then, star stops to check any Flora.*
I Wonder… what kind would he want?….

*At the moment, they stop to crouch by a group of dark red poinsettias. What were they even doing there?*
