↳ The universe is big, it’s vast and complicated, and ridiculous. And sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles.

happy 10th anniversary to Deep Breath, the beginning of the 12th doctor era! I couldn't decide which poster idea I liked more so I did both.
Happy Lunar New Year!
“His first day was on location with Kylie Minogue, but all eyes, even Kylie’s, were on Bernard. He’d turned up with a suitcase full of props, just in case, including a rubber chicken. And what an actor. Oh, really though, what a wonderful actor. We once took him to the TV Choice Awards and sent him up on his own to collect the award, and the entire room stood up and cheered him. That’s a lovely memory. He’d phone up and say, ‘I’ve got an idea! What if I attack a Dalek with a paintball gun?!’ Okay, Bernard, in it went! He loved Gill with all his heart; he mentioned her in every conversation we ever had. A love story for the ages. I’m so lucky to have known him. Thanks for everything, my old soldier. A legend has left the world.” — Russell T. Davies

What? A mysterious summons. You think I'm just going to go? Who sent those messages? I know you know. I can see it in your faces. Don't play games with me. Don't ever, ever think you're capable of that.

Colin Baker & Nicola Bryant visit the new TARDIS
I think one of the reasons a lot of people don't connect as much with the Moffat era is that companions are generally thought of as supposed to be relatable everywomen whereas Moffat's companions tend to be absolutely unhinged. That's also why the Moffat era is my favourite because I vastly prefer unhinged characters over characters meant to be normal people. It's also worth noting that Moffat era characters can still be relatable to some people given there are some people who are the same kind of unhinged these character are.
😏 i could be...
Davies companions ask "do you want to SEE something bigger and more wonderful than your plans" (places, the turn of the earth, the highs and lows of what people are capable of. Companions (and audience) visit but are not asked to stay. They are allowed to go home. Leaving the Doctor is either a tragedy (Rose, Donna) or a realization that the wonder and highs and lows of what people are capable of can be found within or at home. (Martha))
Moffat companions ask have you ever FELT something too big for your tiny town/ordered life/college flat? Do you want to GO SOMEPLACE where people don't know you to go apeshit about it? Companions can't go home (or can but their hearts aren't in it) either because they finally get a chance to indulge the big emotions and can't fit in their ordered lives again (CLARA, River), or spend enough time traveling that it seriously impacts their daily lives. Leaving the Doctor happens when they gain the capacity to balance the everyday with their own big emotions (Amy). Or not (Clara) or something between (Bill).
