Can I rant about Romano character hate for a bit?
So it gets me worked up when people start talking crap about Romano for saying he’s “rude, abusive, and an asshole.” For starters, the word ‘abusive’ is a stretch for just a bit of sibling rivarly, especially that which is seen cannonically in Hetalia. As I’ve seen with my own neices and such, insults flying and someone throwing in the occasional slap or breaking a treasured object is normal. People may target Lovino as childish, but figuring with the attention and praise constantly given to his counterpart for natural talent while Romano just attempts (even if it’s once), this and other instances introduced in the childhood could have theoretically caused Lovino to have a disorder. He follows some signs of having mental issue,( self esteem problems, hiding feelings, disconnecting himself from people with insults, being a grouch consistently). Honestly, with the high potential that he /does/ potentially have a disorder, that does not give you the right to call him an ass. What I personally consider being rude towards a character is people not taking into consideration what could possibly (/have possibly) happened to cause a person to be that specific way.
