they’d be such a power couple if they managed to work thru their interpersonal conflicts. like superpowers?? together?? just the whole concept of boys drunk on power, immortals racing for the stars- rusame is a very fascinating, complex ship and also just. v aesthetic. it could definitely be smth powerful if it managed to happen ;) so let’s get right to it!
ivan is one of the few ppl who rlly get to see al’s introspective side. there’s defo a front al puts up w the snappy, vivacious, magnetic america everyone should be seeing but sometimes ya boi is Tired and Bitter or sometimes just Thoughtful and ivan is just that safe space where he can be that w/o any judgement
tying into that first thing ya bois have a lot of salting/philosophy sessions together tis therapeutic
alternatively ivan lets alfred see the vulnerable side of him. he drops the impassive, pessimistic mask most ppl see and lets alfred go further than even the caring, joking side he shows a few to let him touch his dreams, his hopes, his romantic aspiration, his visions for his people
they’re both more into one upping the other than they’d like to admit but at this point it’s dissolved more into “no way?? this brand goes better with that brand wth” “absolutely not ur being pretentious” “ok but i look hotter in this one” “i’m not going to even grace that with a response” “hey-” joking kind of ordeals
they both enjoy travel and Adventure! u can find them in the big cities just sight seeing, eating good food, shopping and ofc making ridiculous comments abt landmarks, etc of historical significance ;)
their aesthetic is on point. this is a couple that looks GOOD when they want to and also if they ever did get a place together it would have a gorgeous classically timeless but modern interior design
it’s shocking how much more but also less petty they’ve both become since getting together bc u can be sure they’re both still going to be commenting on the dinner selection at the next nations party but at the same time they’re not arguing over each other’s car models anymore?? at least not in public
it’s nice they’ve learned what the other needs to feel appreciated
for ivan it’s those long talks abt everything from solovyov to relativity, it’s that one on one time where he and alfred sit in the dimmed light of the living room w drinks in hand and just talk life thru until the wee hours of the morning, it’s the deep intellectual connection and the heartfelt affirmations of how much alfred rlly does appreciate him that they’ve learned to persist w
for alfred it’s making sure enthusiasm is shown as they run off on their next adventure whether it’s a ride on the new bike or a trek up a mountain, it’s joining him when he’s cooking up dinner and it’s the appreciation of his talents and his brightness and his fervor in genuine admiration
