people hate it when i say "black people getting cancer is racist" but im literally fucking right because systemic racism has led to chemical dumping being acceptable in black/brown neighborhoods and black people have higher rates of cancer as a result

For years there was literally a giant pile of used car tires just casually sitting in one of Dallas' Black neighborhoods and the city kept refusing to come get them for so long that people started developing respiratory issues just from having to live near it. Those people will almost definitely go the rest of their lives w/ a heightened risk of developing specific cancers.

Today I wanted to talk about Kyle Bassinga. Kyle was a 21 year old man from Georgia, whose family described him as "a kind, thoughtful, and smart young man who loved nature, music, and the people around him". Kyle Bassinga was killed on February 18th 2026, just ten days after his birthday. He was found hanging from a tree in a park.

The police ruled it a suicide. The family and local community demanded an investigation. The police refused to change their ruling.

I know this website it too white for this to really go anywhere, but an understanding of the present reality of white supremacy in the United States is just so important to transfeminism here. Lynchings never stopped, white supremacy never went away, you just stopped looking.

Juliana Nzita, A 16 year old Black girl, was just found hanging from a tree on church grounds in Charlotte, NC. Police have ruled it a suicide, despite hanging ourselves from trees being like the one communally agreed way Black folks ain’t killing ourselves.

Every time I go on Twitter or Facebook I learn about another recent lynching or missing Black person going mostly unreported. Half the reason I keep an active account on either of those sites is because they’re the only place I can find out about the violence happening to Black and Trans people reasonably quickly.

But I do need y’all to know that Black folks are currently, actively, being disappeared and lynched—if they even find our bodies. Black girls are and have been more often stolen into human trafficking, especially if they’re immigrants, but I’ve been seeing new news of probable lynchings every other day. Shit is worse than you think it is right now, tumblr just too white of a site to care lol

I knew that the general populations of tumblr hated non-white women with a burning passion only matched by their love of shipping two white guys together but after reading the Kimberlé Crenshaw essay that originally coined "intersectionality" and seeing the way its been bastardized on here legitimately has me seeing red. The way something as simple to understand as, "women who exist on multiple axis of oppression, i.e. black women, often have their unique experiences erased when separate discussions of anti-black racism and misogyny are had" has been warped into "marginalized white people and men face unique discrimination on account of them being [insert marginalized identity] + white/men and if you disagree ummmm haven't you ever heard of intersectionality? *links wikipedia page* checkmate, bigot!"

Like, I am just at a loss for words. I don't know how to explain to these people that marginalized white people and men are not oppressed or neglected on the basis of being white/men, so it's quite silly (and that's being generous) to assert that there is any type of intersection between their marginalized identity and their identity as a white person/man that makes them uniquely oppressed. In fact, in positing such notions you lend credence to fascist concepts such as "anti-white racism" or "anti-male sexism." And when I try to explain this, they will ignore me, hurl misogynistic and racist slurs at me, or most bewildering of all bring up white people and men with additional marginalized identities as a "gotcha!" of... sorts. Either you fundamentally do not understand what I'm trying to explain to you or you're being willfully obtuse, but either way you are twisting the writings of black feminists so that they can fit into your incredibly reactionary worldview and I refuse to engage with you ghouls any further on that basis.

TL;DR: Before you try to lecture anyone, let alone feminists of color or transfeminists (least of all feminists who are both!) on "not understanding what intersectionality is," you should probably read the original essay by Kimberlé Crenshaw first. This may seem like a no-brainer, but alas, it is not.

I can’t imagine what I bring to the table that’s actually worthwhile. Everything feels like a performance. I like people, but not in the way they want me to. My most sincerest connections were always the expectedly short ones. I cherish the conversations I have with strangers on the street, the small talk with a cashier, or settling a dispute online.

These feel just as important as friendship, and I wouldn’t consider these small interactions lesser. Though, most people don’t take kindly to the idea of their friendship being on the same “level” as an interaction with a stranger. But I don’t see why there has to be “levels” in the first place.

Maybe this is less about me being apl and more about me not meshing well with this girl. It’s not her fault. It’s just how it is sometimes.

There’s always been this wall between me and my friends. I thought it was a vulnerability issue on my end, so I did the work, I got more comfortable with vulnerability, and it feels like that wall isn’t as prominent anymore, but it’s still there.

Sometimes I feel like I’m missing out on what others consider to be “core experiences”. I don’t want to be an outsider to things people deem universal (even if it never was universal); I wish I could connect with romance, sex, friendship, etc. the same way everyone else does. I try not to get too down about it, it’s not like I can choose whether I’m a-spec or not. I just wish the isolation that comes with it wasn’t so prominent.
