ㅣDon’t Blame the Browniesㅣ Zelo&Narae
Narae hadn’t been able to wait for very long before walking back through corridors and practice rooms to check on her small gifts. Chances were people would have found them by now. She hoped so at least, and she hoped they’d liked them. The brownies might’ve been the perfect food if one wanted to break their diet, but considering how hard every single trainee at this place seemed to work, the were all very much worth it.
It seemed as if about every other lunch box had been opened, with one or two brownies missing from each. Someone had even bothered to scribble a “thank you” at the bottom of the note attached to the box. The singer smiled, happy that the gesture seemed to have been appreciated. She figured the kids needed to be spoiled a bit every now and then. After all, may of them were still young and had left both homes and families behind to pursue their dreams.
Narae was just on her way to check in on one of the first boxes of brownies she’d placed that morning when she heard something from the practice room. She inched closer, peering through the door. There was a boy standing in the room, seemingly munching away happily on his brownie. Somehow there was a certain sense of accomplishment to it, seeing that people enjoyed her baking, Narae thought. Or – there had been at least, until the boy started to look obviously uncomfortable about something. The question he asked, though directed at no one in particular, made her stomach sink. The words were tinged with something that might have been panic and Narae had a growing suspicion as to why the boy would be stressed. She gently pushed open the door and entered the practice room.
“Are you okay?” she asked, a worried frown on her face. Why am I so stupid? The thought of someone being allergic to her brownies had not at all crossed her mind at all the evening before. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Narae quickly walked over to the boy, trying to figure out if her suspicions were actually true. He did look like he was scared, so much was certain. “Do you need any help?” she asked, softly placing a hand on the boy’s arm. She was also getting scared now, more so for every moment.
Junhong turns his attention towards where the voice had come from, his eyes wide when he sees a small girl. It hasn’t been long since he’s ingested the first bite of the brownie, but already he can feel his airway closing, and it’s only then he wonders why he’s still holding onto the blasted brownie that’s about to kill him. Eighteen years old, this certainly wasn’t the way he thought he was going to die—killed by a peanut brownie.
He drops the brownie and points to his throat, hoping that maybe she’d understand his sad attempt at sign language. He doesn’t have an epipen on hand, because over the years he had gotten good at keeping himself away from the tiny peanut devil that could potentially kill him—and because he never really had the money to pick one up for himself.
“I can’t breathe.” He slurs, his voice weak. He can’t remember the last time that he’s had an allergic reaction to peanuts, simply because he can’t remember the last time that he’s actually eaten them by accident. He doesn’t know why he didn’t smell the peanuts off of the brownies when he first went to eat them, but perhaps that was because sweets were his guilty pleasure, and the fact that he was hungry outweighed his common sense and rationale.
“Peanuts.” It’s more of a statement than a question, but at least this way it’ll confirm his suspicions about there being peanuts in the brownies—if the way he’s reacting to the food wasn’t enough of an indicator already. Though, the more that they stay standing around here, the less time Junhong thinks he has to live through this. He’s over dramatic, but he supposes that’s the proper way to act when you’re breathing, and everything, have been hindered.
Get Creative || Kyungsoo & Zelo
Kyungsoo flinched at the tone Junhong had used but says nothing about it. He should probably get mad because he’s older but he couldn’t bring himself to do so, not when the younger’s trying to help him and had probably sensed that formalities wouldn’t get through his stubbornness. His left eye twitched when he’s pushed aside though but stepped back nonetheless so he could see the younger fully from the mirrors. Soon the music had replayed and he watched as Junhong started to move.
It was the same song he had danced to moments ago but watching Junhong gave it a different feel. It was refreshing to watch someone dance so freely like this, as if they live and breathe the music. Nostalgia hits Kyungsoo hard. He had missed the way he was able to dance for the heck of it, danced because it was fun and it was the only thing he knew he could do right.
Watching Junhong move across the room like he’s in his own world and Kyungsoo’s simply visiting made him realize that he’s been too preoccupied with improving himself, too focused on trying to come up with a perfect choreography that he had forgotten to have fun. The smile on Junhong’s face as he dance made him chuckle. How could one forget to enjoy what they love doing? It’s stress he thinks. He needs to let loose.
“Yeah, I think so,” Kyungsoo replied with a nod before joining Junjong in the middle of the room after the younger’s performance, clapping his hands at the other. “You did great. Say, why not help me come up with a routine then? I don’t know, mess around until we come up with something?” he offered with a chuckle, his ears perking up as the music replayed again.
“I miss dancing… like… dancing, you know?” he said and he’s unsure if that made sense to Junhong. Being a dancer himself though he thinks Junhong would indeed understand.
Junhong supposes that there was no harm in sticking around a little longer to help Kyungsoo figure out a dance to this track. It wasn’t like Junhong had anything else planned for the day anyways, and even if he had, it wasn’t uncommon for him to show up late or to not show up at all. So either way he looks at it, it’s not like hanging around here for a little longer was anything out of the ordinary.
“I don’t see why not.” He shrugs his shoulders and nods. “Was there anything in specific that you’ve been looking to accomplish with this choreography?” He questions, eyes fixed on the smaller boy. He isn’t ready to stand up yet, and so he pats the ground next to him to invite Kyungsoo to sit with him while they figure out what it is the other was trying to do today.
He stretches his legs out in front of him, wiggling his feet to the music playing in the background. Sometimes Junhong forgets where he is, and just lets the music around him determine what his next move was, and though he was supposed to be helping Kyungsoo right now, he’s in his own little world as he listens to the beat, visualizing the steps he’d use to make the best choreography to match the music.
“You miss dancing?” He blinks, and it takes him a short moment to register what exactly it was the other meant. “No, yeah, I think I know what you mean.” He nods. “Before we became trainees, everything that we did was for ourselves. For me, dancing was sort of like an outlet, you know?” He mentions off handedly, a simple look on his face. “But now… it’s like if we don’t get it right on the first try, there’s so much pressure to make it perfect. And sometimes, that pressure can be so overwhelming that we often lose ourselves in the process.” He tells him. “So yeah, I know exactly what you mean.”
“Now sit.” He pats the ground next to him again, an almost hopeful look in his eyes as he watches him still. Kyungsoo was too tense for his own good sometimes.
* gotcha { kidoh&zelo
There was another chip halfway into Hyosang’s mouth and he was beginning to wonder how bad he would break out tomorrow from all this grease when he heard his own name. He froze; mouth open and snack hovering just over his tongue as it clicked. He had been caught. He was too surprised to even chastise Junhong for leaving off the ‘hyung’, instead crunching down guiltily because there was really no turning back now.
“Fuck you,” Hyosang choked out, though arguably that was the worst possible response to someone who really could tell at the drop of a hat. “I’m surprised I made it this far before cheating, really.” The rapper tried to look as pitiful as possible; it was hell to try to live on such a bland diet so suddenly.
Hyosang was torn. Did he try to intimidate his way out of this? Use hyung authority to threaten the younger and the meanest glare he could manage? With any one else, it may have worked, but the fact that Junhong was almost a full head taller than him made the intimidation factor drop in effectiveness significantly. “Please don’t,” Hyosang tried for pleading instead, as embarrassing as it was. “Seriously, Junhong, I needed something with flavor.” Sure the younger boy would understand, right?
Junhong merely stares at the older boy, brows knitted together as he thinks about what he’s going to say next. He could easily turn Hyosang in tomorrow morning, or he could just pretend like he never saw anything and let the elder continue cheating on his diet—a diet that he’s only been on for a couple of days. Though, he supposes he’d do the same if he was in the same spot that Hyosang was in now, because Junhong has never been the one to eat healthy.
“But there’s really nothing stopping me from ratting on your ass, hyung.” He mocks, elbows rested against the table top as he leans himself in closer to the other boy. “You see, that is unless you’re willing to share those chips—and whatever else you’ve got hidden around this place.” He says, a smug smile plastered across his face.
It was a fool proof plan, he thinks, because there’s no way that Hyosang is going to refuse sharing his snacks with someone who could potentially get him in a lot of shit with their manager. “I mean, unless you really don’t want to, but then I’ll have no choice but to tell someone about this.” He watches him, curiosity written all over the younger boy’s face as he waits to see what Hyosang’s final verdict will be. It was evil, he knows this, but he supposes moments like these are what made life worthwhile.
second home || seolhyun & junhong
Seolhyun waved her hands in front of Junhong’s closed eyes, checking to make sure that they were really closed. If there was something she hated, it was when surprises were ruined. Why anyone would want to find out about a surprise before it was ready? It just disappointed everyone all around, and it was a factor of life that never made sense for the girl. That’s why she never peeked at her Christmas or birthday presents (well, not often anyways).
She looped her arm around his, leading the way to a bedroom in the penthouse. Seolhyun was beyond excited. Granted, she was naturally excitable, but this event made her even more so than usual, until she was practically jumping as she walked to the room. Family was so important to her, and having a home meant more than anyone could ever imagine, and she couldn’t even bear the thought of not having one to go back to whenever she needed it. People needed relationships and shelters like that in their lives, and that included Junhong.
“Okay open!” She said loudly, voice resonating in the apartment, empty except for the two of them. They stood in a large room with a bed and a couch next to a desk and a chair pushed into it. It was simple, but Seolhyun and her parents had purposely left it that way so that the boy could decorate it however he desired. “Your own room! We figured you were probably tired of sleeping on the couch all the time, and while you’re here, you might as well be comfortable! You have a closet and a bed and a desk and everything!”
Junhong’s but all of his faith into Seolhyun during this little trip, hoping to god that she doesn’t make him walk into a wall or anything. He wouldn’t put it past her if she had made him walk into something, but when they come to a full stop in a clearing and is told to open his eyes, he’s both pleasantly surprised that he hasn’t been forced to walk into anything, and shocked at the sight before him. What did she mean by your own room.
“My own room?” He raises an eyebrow and stares at her as though she has three heads. “I was fine sleeping on the couch.” He lies, because as comfortable as the couch was while he was sitting on it, he’s too tall to make sleeping on a couch comfortable. “Despite how my legs hung over the edge—it was fine.” He isn’t sure how he’s supposed to take in this sort of hospitality, because Seolhyun’s one of the only people to ever actually show him any.
He’s silent for a long moment as he wanders from her side and into the room to get a better view of it. A closet—so this was the reason she had wanted him to pack a little extra clothing today. Clever. He makes his way from the closet to run his hand over the top of the desk, before resting his hand on the back of the chair, pulling it out to sit on it. Comfy. He then turns his attention to Seolhyun, a look of approval on his face. “You can’t be serious.” He stares at her, eyes wide and filled with wonder. “I can’t--” As nice a gesture as this is, he’d feel too bad taking such an easy route.
Ramyun Robbery || Zelo & JR
Jonghyun quickly navigates through the store, catching a two-pack of ramyun and half a package of milk while he’s at it. He’s pretty sure there are many more things missing from the fridge than milk, but either way he’s going to come back here sooner or later. Because of his late dance practicing he rarely buys groceries at daytime anyways and often has to settle for what the convenience shops has to offer. Not finding the kind of eggs he wanted, he decides to not use too much money and makes his way back to Junhong’s side.
As soon as they’re side by side, Junhong makes a comment to himself about cheating on their diets. Although Jonghyun’s diet isn’t as strict as the idols, he laughs a little. Fair enough. There’s definitely something mischevious about the younger but he can’t really put his finger on it. He’s not sure he wants to find out either, what thoughts the other boy may have at times.
As they were getting ready to pay, it turns out them both were having the same thoughts as the clerk didn’t seem to be around. Without hesitation Jonghyun walks up to the counter to put down his items, leaning over the disk in an attempt to see what’s going on behind the scenes. He even tries shouting and waits for 30 seconds with no answer. Turning to Junhong, looking more confused than ever, he shrugs. He’s quick to the door to see if there’s anyone outside, but freezes as soon as he grabs the handle. Slowly turning around to face the other once more, his facial expression somewhere inbetween panic and a strangely amused “I can’t believe this”. He hisses with a low voice, as if they just committed a crime.
“Zelo-yah… It’s locked…”
There isn’t anything other than take it and run running through his head with the lack there of a clerk there to stop him. If there ever was a time to take a candy bar without paying for it, right now would be that time. However, he doesn’t, not yet anyways. Turning his attention over to Jonghyun who had just been trying the door, Junhong feels his heart sink into his stomach when he tells him the door’s lock.
“What?” He stares at the other boy almost as though he had three heads as he pockets the candy bar before making his way over to the front door next to him. “There’s no way this thing is locked, it was just open.” The two of them couldn’t have been there for longer than ten minutes, and considering they had never seen a clerk in sight, there was no way the front entrance—the only entrance—was locked.
Trying the door, because he doesn’t necessarily trust the other’s words. However, the moment he reaches for the door, and pulls on it, he’s faced with the same fate that his new friend was—locked. “Are you serious?” The question was more directed at the inanimate object than it was for Jonghyun, and Junhong soon finds himself kicking the door’s frame in a fit of distress. “But we just walked in here.” He sighs in defeat before turning himself away from the door to face his friend.
“What now?” Junhong’s never gotten himself locked in somewhere before—and certainly not a place where he wasn’t able to let himself out of. No, Junhong’s locked himself in his room plenty of times, but there was always an escape route if needed—whether it was through his window, or right back through the very door he had a locked once he knew the coast was clear. But this—this was something completely different. They were locked inside of a 7-11 until morning and he could only imagine the trouble that they were going to get in when they got back to the company’s building for being missing for all of these hours.

apolloxzelo
Jin Hyosang was supposed to be on a very strict protein-only diet. His physical trainer was furious that the rapper had gained an extra kilogram instead of losing the promised three and so every meal he received in the Apollo cafeteria was so carefully portioned and measured and the rapper was going to be so sick of chicken breast if made it to debut on this diet. He wouldn’t go so far to say that he was starving, but he was definitely craving something sweet, something salty.. anything with a little bit of flavor!
One might think that he’d been on this diet for weeks with the way he was handling it, when in reality he had only just completed the third day. Hyosang would never call himself an exceptionally strong man in any aspect of his persona, and it was amazing he had made it this far without breaking down to the temptation.
He did break down though, at one in the morning when he assumed the rest of the members were asleep. Hyosang tiptoed into the kitchen, opening the pantry as quietly as he was able to snag the unopened bag of potato chips he had spied earlier. No one had to know it was him who ate it, and he settled down at the table before breaking open the bag and pulling out one beautiful, golden crisp. Hyosang wanted to sing his delight at the salty taste on his tongue, but he was a rapper and would leave that to other members of his team. He did close his eyes in bliss as he savored the taste.
Junhong had woken suddenly in the night, his eyes heavy and unfocused as he tried to see in the dark. He reaches up to rub the balls of his hands against his eyes in an attempt to clear the sleep away. Yawning to himself, he glances over to see the lump in the bed next to him asleep still. Sighing, he pushes his blankets to the end of the bed before shifting to plant his feet on the floor, quietly of course. He didn’t want to wake his sleeping member, even if he himself was unable to fall back asleep.
He makes a trip to the washroom before wandering down the hall and into the kitchen. It takes him a moment, before his eyes fall on the other boy settled at the table, a small look of confusion crossing his features. “Hyosang..?” He knows he’s forgotten something, but Junhong wasn’t really one for formalities anyways, and still being half asleep didn’t help much when it came to being respectful. Another short moment slipped passed him before he noticed the bag of potato chips settled in front of him, and that’s when curiosity went to mischief.
“Is hyung cheating on his diet?” He whispers, a devilish grin tugging at the corners of his lips as he wanders further into the kitchen to settle himself down at the table across from him. “Hyung is cheating on his diet.” He teased, that grin now present on his features as he watches the other in an almost taunting manner. “I’m telling.” He wasn’t actually going to, because he’s been in the same position as Hyosang is now, it was just more fun to let him think that Junhong was going to rat him out.
Get Creative || Kyungsoo & Zelo
Kyungsoo merely let out an embarrassed chuckle now knowing that Junhong had seen his little fit. It doesn’t matter now though he thinks because he can’t take back what happened. He can however look for a new phone now that his old one’s trash, next to his temper. He appreciates the younger not prying further though so he’s left to sulk in silence.
Junhong had made sense though and he acknowledged his words gratefully. “That’s true except… I’ve been trying to rack my brain for steps that would go perfect with the music and though I’ve managed to think of some, they’re not enough,” Kyungsoo starts, tilting his head to think of the right word. “Like there’s just something lacking,” he finished, for the lack of better word.
Kyungsoo watched Junhong connect his phone to the speaker and the brand new music was definitely something refreshing to his ears and he gives the younger a small smile, nodding his head and doing as he’s told. Closing his eyes, he lets the music fill his mind, lets the drop of the bass and the melody carry himself like the way it always did when he dances usually. Dancing had always been something he loved to do, had considered it as his first love and hated how something as trivial as this stressed him. Instinctively he moves, nothing more than experimental pops but other than that he’s only able to bob his head to the beat of the music.
Sighing in defeat Kyungsoo opens his eyes still zero ideas in his head and he runs a frustrated hand through his hair. “Nothing,” he mumbled softly.
Junhong lets out a defeated sigh after watching Kyungsoo’s little performance. “That’s it?” He raises an eyebrow questioningly as he stares down at the other male. “That’s really all you were able to produce for me?” He knows that he probably shouldn’t be talking to someone older than him like this, but he feels like formalities will only get in the way of the point that he’s trying to make. And besides, Junhong’s never actually been one to stick to formalities anyways. He wasn’t raised to use them—in fact, he wasn’t raised to do much, but those were minor details.
“Here, let’s see if you can learn anything from this.” And it wasn’t like Junhong was trying to push Kyungsoo out of the way, but he pushed Kyungsoo out of the way and took his spot in the center of the dance studio. As he waits for the next song to play—or the very same one to repeat—he isn’t sure of the last setting on his phone—he gives Kyungsoo a curt nod and hopes that the other will actually pay attention to what he’s doing, rather than just brushing off the advice that he doesn’t even have to give him.
As the music starts to play, Junhong breathes in a long, deep breath before exhaling as the bass drops, his body moving smoothly with the sound resonating from his phone. Junhong’s always danced from the heart, not the mind. He’s never had to think about what he was going to do next, or how to perfect the next step because he always knew what he was doing—he could just feel it within himself. It wasn’t hard—not for him at least. He had to teach himself to dance from a young age because his family was never able to afford nice things like that—so perhaps that was why he was more in touch with the music than the other boy was.
After the music finishes, he lets his feet plant themselves firmly back on the ground before he turns his attention over to Kyungsoo. “So?” He questions, an eyebrow raised. “Do you think you’ll get it now?”
second home || seolhyun & junhong
“You’re my guest but you’re still the boy. Why would you make a girl carry your luggage?” Seolhyun rolled her eyes, ignoring the bag and walking down the steps of the dorm rooms to the front where the car was waiting. She’s never had to carry luggage before - she even had people do it for her through the airports when she traveled with her parents. In fact, the first time she ever had to transport her own bags was when she moved into the dorms at Apollo, and that was definitely a struggle with her huge suitcases filled with clothes. “And I know you didn’t brush your hair, don’t try to hide it with a snapback.”
The car ride to Seolhyun’s penthouse apartment was short, especially considering the usual driving time in Seoul. It was as if the traffic knew that something important was happening today, and wanted to get the two of them home straight away. She was practically bouncing in excitement the entire way there, chatting about practicing and debuts and anything that came to mind. They entered the apartment buildings and she pushed the elevator buttons to navigate to the very top floor - a process that was now familiar to Junhong as well as to Seolhyun.
The two may not always agree on everything. There were times when Seolhyun just didn’t understand Junhong, and times when Junhong just wanted Seolhyun to shut up. But even so, he had become a key feature of her weekends. Her parents were always out, and it got lonely in the huge apartment, and Seolhyun was always glad for a little company. Plus, underneath the messed up pink hair and the cocky attitude, there was a boy that she genuinely liked to be around. “Okay close your eyes!” Junhong was coming into this house a guest, but maybe after this weekend, things would change a little bit.
Sighing to himself, he takes his bags despite having left them with Seolhyun to carry, because he knows that no matter how hard he tries, she’s never going to do any physical labour. “This is why you’re so weak.” He comments as he follows her out with his luggage, opting to ignore her comment about his hair, because despite how it hasn’t been brushed yet, he knows it’ll look fine later once it’s had a chance to breathe and be out of a hat.
The car ride there wasn’t nearly as long as he had remembered it to be—his legs weren’t nearly as cramped in the back as they normally were after such a long trip. He has to carry his own bags once out of the car and into the elevator. More than once he’s had the thoughts cross his mind to press all of the elevator’s floor buttons just to get on Seolhyun’s nerves, but he has yet to actually give into that level of immaturity. Maybe on their next trip he’ll do it, but for now, he just wanted to get out of his small space and into the penthouse where he could just throw his bags down and kick off his shoes.
“Alright, alright.” He closes his eyes, and though the urge to peek through and see what the big deal is, he doesn’t, because he knows it’ll only upset Seolhyun. It hasn’t even clicked in yet as to why she wanted him to pack a little extra than usual, but perhaps that’s because everything just usually flies over Junhong’s head on a regular basis anyways. “What’s the big surprise you have for me anyways?” He’s beginning to grow a little suspicious at the way she’s been acting, but otherwise he hasn’t a clue as to what she has in store for him.
Music & Lyrics [Zelo&Hayi]
Grinning, Hayi almost jumped on the spot when Junhong agreed to help her. She didn’t want anyone elses help, and she’s glad that she didn’t have to look for someone else to help. “Thank you.” She sang, waiting patiently as he looked over what she had written.
Seeing him sit himself on the floor, she follows suit, settling herself down beside him. “Hmm…” She hums in response, looking carefully at where he was pointing. She watches him as he jolts down his idea on the page, looking from the page, to him and back again. Smiling to herself, she focused her attention on the page.
Taking the page back, she reads over the rap he has written for her. Nodding her head in approval, she looks back at him. “That actually fits really well!” Grinning, she puts the page back down on the floor, before leaning in and wrapping her arms around the other, hugging him. “Thank you so much!” It takes everything she has to move back, settling herself back in a sitting position. “Would you mind helping me actually rap it?” She asks, looking down at the floor. She didn’t want to seem too needy, or like she was trying to take up all of his free time, but if she wanted the song to be perfect, she’d need to work on it, and that was always easier to do with someone else present.
Junhong doesn’t mind helping a friend out in need, because he knows what it’s like to be in a position where help is needed, but never given. And though jotting down a few rap lines isn’t like he’s saving her from the worst day of her life, but he knows it’s certainly going make the rest of her day—and possibly her week, much easier than it would have been if he hadn’t taken the time to help her out.
“I’m glad you like it--” He manages out, his tone not as strong or confident as it normally is when he’s around people—but perhaps that has something to do with her arms being around him. Sure, it was nothing more than a simple gesture of gratitude, but Junhong was still trying to figure out how exactly little forms of physical contact worked without the other ending up hurt. However, the moment is short lived when she pulls back, and a part of him wishes that maybe the hug had lasted a little longer—so that way he could have returned the favour by hugging her back, instead of just sitting there with his arms hanging awkwardly at his sides.
He then looks thoughtful for a short moment after she’s asked him to actually rap it out for her, before he’s giving her a slight nod. “I don’t see why I can’t.” He tells her as he shifts into a more comfortable position because he knows that they’re going to be at this for a little while—or until it’s perfect, whichever happens first. Glancing over at Hayi, he can’t help but wear a small smile as he watches her prepare herself for the task ahead. She’s one of his best friends, but as of recent he’s been finding it harder to talk to her without seemingly making a fool of himself—which was possibly the reason for his words turning out a little more harsh than they should depending on the situation. He shakes his head of those thoughts however, deciding that now wasn’t the time to be thinking of such things—and instead focuses himself on the task at hand—learning the rap that he had just written.
Ramyun Robbery || Zelo & JR
Jonghyun is very pleased with his company, somehow internally happy of finally being able to hang out with someone younger than him, and such a talented dancer as well. While tired, he still sighs happily to himself as he watches the night sky. It’s amazing how quick the colors and scenes of the sky changes it’s appearance. He turns his head to Junhong, wondering if he’s thinking the same. Most likely not, it’s just Jonghyun who simply loves walking home at night.
“This is nice.” Junhong states to the older’s surprise. He’s always nervous getting to know new people, and he’s happy the idea to walk to the convenience store was appreciated. Jonghyun knows the neighbourhood well as the 7-11 is barely a block from his apartment. As he doesn’t have anything easy to cook at home, he’d be glad to show the other boy the way as he could need something to eat as well. Atleast a pack of ramyun would be nice, no matter how tired he may be of it. Maybe a boiled egg or two, no matter how plastic they may taste.
“Yeah.” He agrees after a moment of silence, as they’re closing in on the store and it’d soon be too late to reply. He pulls a hand through his hair and breathes in the chilly air once more. Yeah. It’s nice. It doesn’t take long until they’re in front of the store, not really minding reading the opening hours printed on the door before entering. Jonghyun couldn’t help noticing no personnel were around at the moment, but figured it’s fine because they’ll need some time to look around first.
Junhong’s a little surprised to see that there’s no one behind the counter when they enter the shop, but perhaps that’s because the clerk needed a smoke break or something—which was understandable having to work the job that he was working. Junhong doesn’t understand what it must be like to be a clerk, but he’s had his fair share of run-ins with them to know that it can’t be easy—especially with customers like Junhong used to be.
“The best part about this is no one has to know we’re cheating on our diets.” He mentions more off absent mindedly than anything, but if the other with him hears and responds, he’ll take that too. Taking a moment to browse over their selection, Junhong’s faced with a standstill, uncertain of what it is he wants to grab. And unlike most kids, who were able to just grab whatever candy bar they wanted off of the shelf and hand it over to their mother so she’d buy it, Junhong always had to read the ingredients before he even thought about stuffing the candy bar into his pockets. Nevertheless, he had always managed to sneak a couple in before either getting away with it or getting caught.
He isn’t too certain as to how much time has passed since they entered the 7-11, but the clerk still wasn’t back, and he’s starting to wonder if maybe he’s ever going to return. Glancing over at Jonghyun, he gives him this really look before he glances back over at the empty counter. “Do you think he’s ever going to return?” He has the money to pay for the snacks now—unlike when he was younger, but now it seems the one time he’s actually capable of doing something right, life decides to throw him a curve ball and it’s like he’s faced with whether or not he should shove the candy bar into his pockets or not.
ㅣDon’t Blame the Browniesㅣ Zelo&Narae

Narae wasn’t very good at spending her evenings off from practice doing something productive. Usually she spent them in front of a cheesy drama with handsome-enough lead actors, dressed in pyjamas and with some kind of snack that most definitely wasn’t supposed to be in her diet. Yesterday wouldn’t have been any different, if it hadn’t been for the fact that her computer all of a sudden had decided to stop working. That had put an abrupt end to her plans for the evening, but with the clock not even close to what Narae deemed an acceptable time to go to bed, new plans had to be made.
As it happened, the new plans landed her in the kitchen of the Medusa dorm. Armed with cacao powder, a jar of peanut butter and ridiculous amounts of sugar, she set to work. It had been a while since she last made her signature peanut butter swirl brownies, but she knew the recipe by heart. In all honesty, it might have been the only recipe she’d ever learned and knew how to follow, but she preferred not to think about that. It was better to keep up the idea that three years of working in a bakery had made her a genius with flour, eggs and sugar. Soon enough the dorms were filled with the smell of freshly baked goods.
As always, there were more brownies than Narae would ever be able to eat on her own. Instead of trying it out, she decided to pack most of them into lunch boxes. Early in the morning, she had taken a quick walk around the practice rooms on the fourth floor of the Apollo building, placing the boxes together with small notes.
You’re working really hard today! Here, take a brownie. You’re worth it! ♥
She hoped that at least some of the other trainees would appreciate the gesture. On the other hand, if they didn’t, it would only mean more brownies for herself and that wasn’t half bad either.
Practicing came as a sort of second nature to Junhong. His days now consisted of eat, sleep, shower and practice—and of course those mandatory bathroom breaks when needed. It’s not often that he’s gotten a day off, not since debut is closing in on them—or so he would like to think.
He isn’t worried about their debut, not like some of his other groupmates. Perhaps it’ll hit him when it actually happens, but until then, he’s forever going to remain unphased by the idea.
Junhong gets to one of the practice rooms early that morning, early enough to spot a girl who seemed to be leaving something behind for the trainees. He isn’t too sure what it is, not until he’s wandered over to the box and reads the little note. Brownies. Now those were some of Junhong’s favourite sweets—though he’d never admit to liking such a girly dessert—not to any of his groupmates anyways.
“These look delicious.” He comments to himself before he’s actually grabbing for one. He isn’t sure what all has been put into it, but he supposes asking would have been a good idea—considering allergies and all, but he found it unlikely that someone would even think to put peanuts—or any other kind of nut into a brownie. Why ruin a perfectly good brownie after all?
Bringing the delicious treat to his lips, Junhong takes half of the brownie into his mouth in bite, a content smile gracing his features shortly after. “Oh man, these are good.” He says, despite having a mouthful of brownie, and he’s certain that whoever’s around didn’t understand a single thing he had said.
And that’s when it happened. His throat suddenly felt itchy, and though he tried coughing, he thought nothing of it. It wouldn’t have been the first time that he had gotten a random itch at the back of his throat—an itch that couldn’t be cured with a simple glass of water. And so, he reaches for his bottle of water, uncapping it to take the biggest swig of water he’s ever taken before.
And all seemed well, so Junhong decided to finish the brownie, still thinking nothing of it. That is, until his tongue started to feel funny, and that’s when he knew something was wrong.
“What—what are in these brownies?” He’s not one to be scared, but with his airway slowly turning its back on him, he can feel himself panicking—if only a little.
