Lullaby to aid a dying plant
*this lullaby does not replace the care needed for a plant, it is just an aid.
I see you weary
But don’t fret for long
I’ll sooth your roots
With some song
I see your life
Still holding on
And I will help
Don’t fret for long
You still have so much to hear
The breeze in the wind, my gentle song
As you heal, I will keep you near
For this is where you belong
Seashell Magick
Long before fancy new-age tools became readily available through specialty shops, our magic-using ancestors turned to nature for their power objects. Natural objects are imbued with spiritual energies that we can harness for our own use in spells and charms. Seashells in particular have a long history of magical uses, as they were associated with the powers of various sea gods and goddesses of different cultures. Properties
Being born of the ocean, shells are strongly associated with the element of water. They are also associated with the moon, which drives ocean tides. Both the element of water and the moon have strong feminine energies that are receptive in nature, so shells are primarily used in magic to draw things you desire into your life.
Preparation
Shells taken from the ocean need little ritual preparation for magical uses; however, if your shells were bought from a store or have been stashed in a box for a while, they may benefit from cleansing and recharging. To do this, place your shells in a bowl of water mixed with sea salt. Set them aside to soak for a day or overnight. Recharge them by setting the bowl in the sun or under the light of the full moon for several hours.
Love
One of the main symbols for Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, is the seashell. Invoke the power of Aphrodite for love spells using shells by wearing seashell jewelry or hair ornaments to attract a mate. Use a hinged seashell with the two parts still attached as a powerful love talisman to keep two lovers together. Write the initials of the lovers on the inside of the shell, one on each side, then seal it shut with glue.
Prosperity
Many cultures used shells as a form of currency. Cowrie shells were used in Africa and North America, and Native Americans used wampum—beads made from clam shells—as money. Because of this, shells are suitable for money spells. Fill a small green or gold pouch with seashells, a silver coin and mint, which is a money-drawing herb. Hang the bag where you do business, and rub it when you desire prosperity. Place a small seashell in your wallet or purse to continually keep money coming to it.
Protection
Protection is a shell’s primary purpose in nature, as it is made to keep small, defenseless sea creatures safe from harm. Because of this, shells have strong protective energies. Many cultures in coastal areas use shells in folk magic to protect the home by placing strings of shells over windows and doors. Necklaces of strung shells can be worn by children to keep them close to home and safe from harm. Placing a small, round shell on the collars of your pets will keep them safe should they wander from home.
Particular shells also have their own individual meanings:

My grandfather owes his life to a witch...
I have a wealth of stories from my grandpas side of the family, who are from Pigeonroost, Kentucky (Perry County). He lived with his four siblings, his father, who worked the mines, and his mother. My grandpa is the last living member of his family now, and even then, he almost didn’t make it through the first days of his existence.
This is in part because my grandpa was born very weak, in the April after a hard winter. Doctors up east said that he might have been allergic to his moms milk. Needless to say, he didn’t cry when he was born, which is a bad sign, and his mother carried him around with her on a pillow as she tended the garden for the coming crop.
“That’s when,” my grandpa always says, “the Witch Lady came.”
She was not summoned by any one of the family, and the neighbors hadn’t even heard of my grandpa yet, seeing as the family lived far from town atop one of Pigeonroosts many mountains. They weren’t really sure how the Witch Lady heard of my grandpa, but nonetheless, they saw her walking up into the holler with her forked walking staff and her crooked back, out of the deep dark forest.
She took one look at my grandpa, and told my great grandmother:
“Now, you kill a hen, and boil its gizzard for a night. Once it’s done, you feed the broth to that child! He will be well.”
Great Grammy Roxie Mae did just that, and my grandpa grew strong, crying out on that very night, for the first time.
There’s much more I could say about my grandpas abilities as he grew, but I’m going to have to stop there. (This is a long post). Grandpa was one of the first in my family to accept my spirituality, and I think it’s likely because of the Witch lady of Pidgeonroost, Kentucky. I have her to thank for that, and so much more.
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
The full picture is even more heart breaking after you open the uncropped version. Just a heads-up, it's rough
“The Roman Catholic Parish in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was just grafitted.”
Nah let’s post it. Let’s feel it. Don’t look away.
I notice alot of my followers on here skipping these posts just to mess with my lgbt ones, suspiciously the white popular ones.
Heres a not so friendly reminder, as an lgbt metis person, i dont give a single fuck what your blog is themed or if this is too painful for you to look at. Reblog this post. Reblog this post with the sources of the 751 children who were found.
Your compliance and silence as well as the compliance and silence of your ancestors is what allowed these schools to open and kill first nations children. The children of MY people.
Dont follow me if you cant reblog this post or the one with sources to your political blog or your most popular blog. Add trigger warnings if you must but if your political blog is only focused on the harms you personally face like being lgbt then you need to see some bigger pictures and stop being afraid of angering your racist mutural or actually saying some shit about racism. If you can reblog some antifa graphics or add blm to your bio to be a surface level ally, you can reblog some sources on the genocide first nations people faced and still face today.
They were CHILDREN.
They were murdered in cold blood.
[ID: A tweet by @ IBJIYONGI that reads: Holy words: “We were children.”
Attached is a news article by CBC Canadian News titled “Saskatoon Canadian cathedral covered with paint after discovery of 751 unmarked graves.” An attached image shows red hand prints on the walls and door of the building, along with the words “we were children.”
@ CurlyCheddar replied in a tweet that reads: I guess I understand the message but I’m not sure why the artist went with Halloween spook-o-rama walking dead hand prints. Really bad. Could be made a little better if the prints were child-sized and didn’t go above the height of a child but whatever not the point I guess.
@ IguanodoneComics replied: sorry us natives grieving the loss of almost a thousand of our own isn’t artistically satisfying enough for you. /end ID]
[ID: The full image of the graffitied cathedral shows red paint dripping down the front steps and two pairs of children’s shoes and stuffed animals.
Another image shows the same cathedral after the red paint had been washed off. There is a paper sign on the doors put there by those from the Catholic cathedral that reads “we are sorry”. Someone has written on the sign “sorry does not cut it.” There are other signs left on the steps with red handprints. Some of the signs say “thou shalt not steal”, “thou shalt not kill”, “truth before reconciliation”, and “you can’t wash us away”. Another pair of children’s shoes and a stuffed animal have been left on the steps. End ID]
Spirituality and Materialism are incompatible.
One does not become a better witch by buying the prettiest grimoire or by filling their altar with ornate jars and expensive candles. An apothecary of rare herbs and oils will not help you align with your higher self. The market for paganism is growing rapidly, and this often lures baby witches into believing that they need to spend money or invest in materials to practice witchcraft, wicca, or any spiritual path. Spirituality has become a topic for profit.
Even big-box stores have made room for crystals and astrology themed candles. When I first noticed this, I was impressed. I thought it was great to see witchcraft becoming more accessible, and having it in common stores might help to reduce the stigma. But looking closer, we can see that this is having the opposite effect. The commercialization of spirituality creates the impression that you need to purchase and collect a multitude of expensive tools and materials before beginning.
I have friends who come to me, interested in witchcraft, asking where to start. They expressed that they'd love to go on the journey, but they were afraid they didn't have enough money to buy all the crystals and books or that they couldn't do any spells because they weren't allowed to have candles in their house. The best thing I could think to tell them was that you don't need those things. Witchcraft began in the backyards of commoners, in civilizations that came long before crystals or imported herbs were accessible. Witchcraft began with people's bare hands. With people's minds and bodies. They cast their spells with the plants they could find growing by their houses. Witchcraft is not a rich man's practice.
My message is this: while tools are helpful, magic begins inside yourself. Don't be afraid to begin without tools. Begin with your hands. Begin with your mind. Begin with your soul. Get crystals later, they are lovely. Get candles later, they are powerful. But right now, all you need is to look inwards.
☾ Rose Salt ☽
One of my personal favorite things to make, Rose Salt has a variety of uses. Whether you use it as a scrub in the shower to cleanse yourself and your energies, as a relaxing soak in a warm bath to relax in, or sprinkle it in doorways and on windowsills as a form of protection, it’s multipurpose and very easy to make! What You’ll Need: - Dried Roses - Salt - A Vessel With a Lid to Keep It In - A Mortar & Pestle Optional: - Rose Essential Oil Steps:
Take the petals and buds of your Roses, save the stems and thorns for other spells, and grind them finely with your Mortar & Pestle.
Add Salt.
Mix both well until they are combined well.
Add the mixture into the vessel you chose.
Add the essential oil, seal the vessel, and gently shake to combine everything together more easily.
One of the many properties of Roses is Protection as is with Salt so combining the two gives you a simple, fragrant protective material to keep around your home.
good things will happen 🧿
things that are meant to be will fall into place 🧿
THIS ONE FUCKING WORKS. REBLOG IT.
oh to be in love under the moon 🌙
Let’s Talk Poppets & Spell Dolls!👩🏻🤝👩🏽
hollywood has massively misrepresented poppets and spell dolls as a form of evil/baneful magick (the Voodoo Doll), however, this is often far from the truth about poppet magick!
the use of poppets and spell dolls is a sympathetic form of magick which ties a magick focus or object with a soul, to an inanimate object. people use rag dolls, ceramics, photos, paper cut outs, and even animals as poppets for humans.
however i use ceramic figures! usually when i make a poppet it is used to protect or nurture a loved figure in my life. i place crystals near the poppet depending on what the person represented by the doll needs, carry the poppet in my company for lonelier friends, or i may even do spellwork involving the doll for bigger issues.
to bind a poppet to a person, use hair, belongings (scraps of clothing belonging to your subject can be stuffed inside of stitched dolls, as can topical herbs), or even just the initials or birthdate of the person will do. i paint these details on the back of the poppet.
remember if you use a poppet to do any sort of magick on a friend, it is best to ask the friend first! otherwise using a poppet may end up being controlling or an unwanted magickal intervention.
heres how i make my ceramic dolls:
I use a cheap air-drying clay called “DAS”. You can use as much or little as you like, just be aware the the bigger you make your poppet, the longer it will take to dry.
Roll your clay roughly into a potato shaped ball, and working quickly (air-drying clay dries and becomes difficult to work with fast!) snip along the dotted lines pictured above! when you pull the sniped sectors away from eachother, you should get a ugly looking body-ish shape with a bulbous head. but with some pinching and squeezing, the body will quickly become prettier.
Once you have squeezed the clay into shape, you should end up with some very simple silhouetted human shapes. I smooth the clay out using my fingers (not with any water) on the front and the back of the poppet. In 24-48 hours the poppets should be fully dry and ready for painting.
i paint the skin of the doll whatever colour i want and then give it a heart, sigils, a face, a belly button, and the name and birthdate of the person represented by the poppet on the back. i also make a few plain ones at a time so i always have some ready to use. (the paint i use is water-based acrylic paint).
i hope this is helpful to some people! i put a little extra effort into this post. don’t forget that you don’t have to make people shaped poppets! if you’re making a poppet for an animal, they would be super cute as animal shaped <3
