“She died. She can’t come back, even if you keep her stuffed away in a drawer you can’t look at. You’re not waiting for her resurrection; you’ve made yourself her mausoleum.”

palamedes can't dance but he also tripped on purpose
My obligatory “hello I am back to drawing tlt art because I graduated college” post! Will I post consistently now? No. Will I be creative and different with the characters I draw? Also probably not. But hey. Here is Harrow!

She was utterly beautiful and entirely terrible. Whole, unhurt, untouched by anything that had happened to her. — A memory flashed up through the haze of adrenaline: ”Do I look like I’m in the queendom of my power?”
Devastatingly beautiful scene. Beautifully devastating writing.
Having complex and appropriate feelings about them
My favorite 200 baby warcrime
Resurrecting this blog to post the parasite occupying 30% of my brain since I started reading TLT almost a year ago
(Heavily inspired by Neverway's color palette go wishlist that game)

Some harks (feat cameos)
Trying to get her design down, I like the second panel but I'd prefer her to be as pointy as possible 🤔
very interesting how Harrow loves John like a god and king and is terrified of forming a more regular pseudo-familial relationship to him.
Meanwhile John seems to just like Harrow. He’s wants to be a teacher, a mentor. Come to me with questions and let’s have biscuits and I’ll make jokes to help you smile. Don’t call me lord, please.
He’s begging her to see him as a man and care for him that way because he’s already caring for her as a person and pseudo-daughter.
also re:people assuming that the thematic implications of tlt are unintentional. this pops up soooo much with the way that social prejudices and strictures are held up within john’s empire. like yes on the surface things are cool and neofuturist and liberal - same sex relationships are normalized! women are political leaders and scholars and swordfighters and revolutionaries! this guywoman calls herself a prince! - but there’s also significant evidence of the continued existence of misogyny, patriarchy, strict gender roles and generally binary gender presentation, etc etc etc. gestures emphatically to everything relating to mercymorn. and it seems that john is not only complicit in these social systems, and not only an active participant in them, but at times even the font and root of them. gestures even more emphatically to everything relating to mercymorn.
and instead of examining what muir might be trying to say by having these seemingly at-odds ideals present in the same universe and stemming from the same father-god-emperor-king, tlt fans are so quick to write off all of this as “well, the world building just isn’t that thorough” or “it’s probably muir subconsciously writing women through a lens of internalized misogyny” or even “who cares, it’s a sci-fi fantasy series about bones, it’s not that deep”
it is. it is that deep. engage with the text. PLEASE
