Markdown is pretty neat. I've been using it for schoolwork on my Chromebook and it just works. Especially with VSCode or Vim, which both have great Markdown support. And pandoc is great for compiling pdf files.
Visual Studio Code - It's really cool
VSCode is amazing. My editor of choice in fact. Why?
There are quite a few reasons. On one hand is the amazing plugin support, and on the other is Vim mode, and if you grow a third hand then on it would be a general layer of polish and ease of use that no other editor I've used has provided. Not even Atom, which is based on VSCode, and is made by GitHub, who are owned by Microsoft. It's actually insane how cool this editor is.
I used to use Vim (Neovim specifically) almost religiously, at one point even for my school work on my Chromebook. And I still do really. But for programming, Visual Studio Code is just better in my opinion. It has easy Git commits, it has a tree file explorer, it has a terminal, it even has tabs. And these are things Vim can have through plugins (tabs by default actually), but VSCode has them built in. I'm a Linux user, and I distrohop a lot so this is amazing for me.
In conclusion, VSCode is cool, Vim is also cool and my brain won't let me sleep.
