Yesterday
Rain-soaked walk in the morning to get perfect cappuccinos with T, eggplant and lentil ragu for lunch, worked on spec books all afternoon then rushed over to the Arts District for an industry event and much needed shit-talking fest with my coworkers. Took a car across town and had a beautiful dinner with Max's family featuring lobster caught the night before. Drank a bunch of Jamie's wine and laughed until my stomach hurt. Ride home in Ian's perfectly janky pickup. The kind of day that reminds me that life can be quite nice, and that I'm actually very, very lucky.

Desperately need to refresh the apartment. I think the last major?ish change was moving the drafting table into the office about a year ago and getting the office together generally, but even before then very little had changed over past few years aside from trotting out and putting back one piece of workout equipment or another. It's still a very nice space but it's starting to feel kind of stale and sad...maybe too much of a reminder of when I felt incredibly stuck and unhappy. Going to see what my favorite thrift stores are up to this week. Do I still know anyone with a truck...
In other news I'm finally reading Capital Vol. 1 and I've found that the best motivation for practicing French is to remember that I want to read Beckett's French novels and Proust in the original. Bien sûr!
