Like Fish
I wish to swim with the lilies Like the happy koi Content between the pebbles and pads Darting beneath the mirrored sky. If I could breathe beneath the surface Like the golden creature Well respected and left to rest Peaceful with my brothers and sisters And elders and youth. To live the simple life of a revered fish The life of a muse for spiritual tattoos And never worry whether I’m predator or prey. No things, no houses, no advertisements or people The water my home And the furry green clinging to the rounded rocks That’s it. That’s all I need.
Oh fish are so smart. Creatures of the sea. Man became stupid when he/she crawled out from the ocean And left aquatic mammalian necessities For hunting and fire And the gumption for controlling nature With agricultural industrialization.
Agriculture is the fall of man. The audacity to enslave sheep. Little did man know that somewhere Someone was enslaving him And women sat sinking for eon upon eon As some man sat enslaving she.
But a humbled sheep Is the human who chooses to leave To go off the grid And live with respect to nature. That Great Mother. The black hole where all things Begin, began, and never cease to be. And while Americans argue Over the descendants of apes The wise one remembers For nine months we swam in our mothers bellies And it’s like fish we are destined to be.
