Dean fans, don't read this if discussion of Dean's rebar death and Jared's ongoing callousness and obliviousness will hurt you.

This concerns Jared's comments on Dean from jib11 and a repeat of Jared yet again trampling on Dean and on the wounds of the Dean lane.

I'm not mad, I am tired, and I'm sad because I'm a Dean fan. Tired and sad about the actual obliviousness and disrespect, the lack of mindfulness, the disregard for any impact his words could have on Jensen or on many many fans, the way Dean only matters if he can make it all about Sam. He has no interest in Dean beyond that.

Here's a summary of some of the comments Jared has made since spn ended in Fall 2020 about Dean dying. I've provided backup receipts.

Dean can't survive as a hunter without Sam

Dean had nothing outside hunting and Sam did, so Sam gets to live and Dean has to die

Dean got killed by an inanimate object, Dean's a bad hunter ha ha so funny

the only success Dean gets is Sam getting to live and that's so beautiful, nothing about Dean's own needs whatsoever

Dean died so Sam could live

Dean's actual canonical viewpoints? Never heard of her

If Dean lived, he should be saddled with guilt for his little brother dying since it was Dean's fault he pulled Sam into hunting in the first place

A further detail, Jared's show naming a horse "Rebar."

There's no angle out of the possible motives or what was possibly going through Jared's head that doesn't make Jared look bad. It's that in context with all his insensitivity and comments about Dean's rebar death.

And possibly, he's taking cheap jabs at Jensen's lane. Wants to provoke response. Just throwing that out there as a possibility.

I'm still appalled at how lacking in empathy the Jared stan lane is being about this and how hard they'll got to trample over Dean, reduce him to nothing, and then try to virtue signal: UWU NOBODY GETS SAM AND DEAN BETTER THAN JARED AND JENSEN No sit down and STFU you don't get to say this while you're enabling this amount of disrespect towards Dean. Just SHUT. IT.

Going to add to this some commentary about something said on Jared's panel, and the response on the cockles panel from Jensen and Misha.

On Jared's solo panel someone asked how Sam and Dean would fare hunting alone and Jared said Sam would do better because he was tougher since he'd been possessed so often and that's when Jared took the dig about Dean getting killed by "a rebar that couldn't move."

The same fan took the question to Jensen on the cockles panel and after Jensen weaponized one of the Jared lane's favorite Dean bashing points, that Dean can't do research, Jensen said "Dean because Sam would be in the bunker doing research while Dean would be out there doing the dirty work" OH SNAP, Jensen asked what Jared said.

And the fan got very nervous at that point, don't shoot the messenger, and told him.

Jensen and Misha appeared to both be exasperated yet amused and then Misha initiated a comeback and provided a setup for Jensen "well the reason Sam wasn't possessed so often--" -- and Jensen completed his sentence and said "because he's a weak link" and that with Dean it "took longer to figure out a way in because he's a tough m-f."

Normally I wouldn't make too much of the way these guys troll each other. I used to be a fan of all of J2M and I'd caution people against taking how they troll each other too much to heart. But the context here is mounding up, which a a bunch of things that kept happening all weekend, and I'm not going to mention them all, but for example Misha, TWICE, putting a certain type of Sam/Jared stan who performatively ships Sastiel and put down Dean in their place.

Certain Sam/Jared stans keep getting worse and worse as they finally have to deal with the reality that they are not the only fans that matter and that neither the mothership nor the spn universe is only for them and they are not the only fans that matter. They spent years going after Cas and Misha for existing, now they're doing it to Dean and Jensen, who, by their own rules, is one half of the entire show. Bros just bros nobody else but the bros, and everyone else can die and even very self evidently center heart characters like Cas are considered extras." And that stupid drama was performative, now everyone's getting the memo, when they said "just the brothers" they only meant SAM. And Dean just doesn't matter to them at all unless he's plastered to Sam and only Sam.

I'll preface this lil message by saying, of course people change. They get older, their tastes change, their views change etc. But.

I would just like to throw my thoughts about all this at you, and acknowledge just how much the people you surround yourself with affect you.

Taking one Jensen Ackles as an example (this is just my personal observation as somewhat of an outsider). When he and JP were best bud dude bros Jensen got a lot of 'homophobia' allegations, he was almost painfully shy and uncomfortable, interactions with Misha at this point were mostly practical jokes and gentle bullying. Strikes me as performing masculinity, and generally everything seemed like a performance to me, like he was playing a character.

It seems that now most of his time is spent around/talking to Daneel and Misha, as well as Jason Manns etc. Two forward thinking, open people. The change in him has been extraordinary. He now has his own production, with brilliant and well rounded queer characters. He's vocal of his love for his friends, his family. He's able to talk openly and alone at cons, and when asked he will sing songs? Incredible. His interactions with Misha have become so soft and loving, so protective of him.

It's just a wonderful thing to see. The support and love between them, whether you believe it to be romantic or not, is palpable. And I think a perfect example of how surrounding yourself with positivity and support can change you completely.

I hate how he was referred to in the past because honestly, I don’t see it. I never did, even when I wasn’t well, as insane as I am now about them lol.

Jensen has talked the last year or so about shedding that performative and toxic masculinity that our good ole Texas boy had ingrained in him from birth.

I’ve said this before, but I don’t think pre-Covid Jensen would have been comfortable enough with himself to post a video of him playing with his daughter, with his nails painted.

And that’s not a dig or anything against him.

Everyone has to start somewhere in order to grow and better themselves. And I think that’s something we, as humans need. It’s just everyone’s start and the bar they set is different.

Jensen used to hide sincerity in jokes and bits. And he still does to a point. But we also see a lot more of earnest Jensen who just wants to gush about the people he loves - friends, family, and romantic partners alike.

This man has literally created a production company that essentially revolves around queer rep.

And it’s beautiful.

man jensen talking abt how he had so many ideas for the finale and that there are lots of ways he wishes it could have ended differently, it makes me so sad like. he was out there suggesting different things and really thinking deeply abt his character and what dean's end should look like and they dismissed him. (and also remembering how when he was upset with dean's death he was told he was 'too close' to the character like !! that's a good thing. that means he understands the character. they should've listened to him!! but anyways) he really hates that finale so much<3

and then when he described his dream and misha talked abt how they were so invested and tied to their characters after playing them for so long and how the lines blurred between character and actor and it was hard to say goodbye. and at first misha was just talking abt himself but then goes "i know it's the same for you" to jensen, like he knows and understands how much dean means to jensen....it's just such a contrast to how j*red has talked abt the finale and the total lack of understand he has for not only dean's character but sam's too. and it just reinforces for me that misha and jensen are on the same page about a lot when it comes to their characters and how things ended

Okay here is what I can transcribe from what I hear as lyrics from the JenMish music writing session. I’m pretty sure the beginning is just Jensen babbling nothing to help Misha get the melody but there are some words in there that I simply cannot make out, but I think I got it from where Misha started in. 

Standing up on the bridge there. Looking down on the water. Just me and my little brother. Where’s the angel that we need? Where. Where is he now?

Looking out over the water. See as far as the eye can see. And I live and I need another… day to find you there. 

Where’d you go when I need you (also possibly where’re you going when I need you, not entirely clear) You were gone and left me all alone. But you were never alone, you told me. Here I sit with you on this stage in Rome.

Going to point out that Misha came up with “where’s the angel that we need” and had Sam and Dean together, so Misha’s imagining on this was Dean still thinking in TFW “we” terms, family general. And when Jensen came in with his lyrics, he used “I” and “me” language, personal for Dean, specific, specifically losing Cas.

Look, Jensen didn’t have to say “’cause so do I” after he said Danneel refers to Misha as her boyfriend. He didn’t have to do that. He very clearly THOUGHT about it before he opened his mouth to add that. Like that was a CHOICE. He made that decision knowing it would live on the internet forever.

I checked the video again and he waited 4 seconds before adding that. If it was a joke between two heterosexual friends he probably wouldn’t have, but just continued talking.

No he thought about it for four seconds and you can see the wheels turning in his head. He was rubbing his thigh which we know he does to self sooth when he is nervous and - and this is very important for me - he looked at Misha. He made the comment about Danneel to which Misha shrugged his shoulders the first time. Then he waited for i think two to three seconds before looking at Misha who’s eyes widened and he shrugged his shoulders the second time. Jensen then nodded his head like ok let’s do this and added the “which is funny cause so do I” having the biggest smile on his face before quickly lowering his head to probably hide the honest loving relieved smile of a man who just came out. Knowing it will probably be played off like a joke, maybe even hoping for it, he added the fakest laugh I have ever heard from him.

And then cue music and he looked furious and so annoyed at being interrupted and you know what it was valid. It was very obviously timed and it was harmful in ways beyond Daniella’s imagination. Just imagine coming out, even if it is in a joking matter, and instead of being offered comfort and respect someone cuts you off.
