Swimming Pool Water disposal

What is backwashing?
Swimming pool water flow can be reversed, from the filtration plant if the filtration system is not well maintained, to purge the system of the pollutant sediment. It is common for some sand to be lost in the process.
What problems does backwashing present?
For backwashing to be effective flow of water needs to be greater than normal operation.
