Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 releasing today has been really funny for me as someone who has at most a passing interest in the game. I like Undertale and I know general stuff (like the main trio, the dark worlds as concepts, Jevil and Spamton, what a snowgrave is, etc) but I've only seen some gameplay of chapter 1 when that first came out (so my memory is a bit hazy) and nothing for chapter 2. My friends, on the other hand, have played through both chapter 1 and 2 and were dying to play the 3 and 4. In the days building up to the release they were saying things like "you will not hear from me for days" and "I will become forever changed by the experience" and it has been a ghost town in our friend group discord server with the exception of a single "spoilers" channel which has since been filled with incoherent ramblings. They've since finished both chapters and have now gone feral. I don't mean in the "oh they're so excited that the game they like got a huge content update way and are now obsessing over it!" way. I mean the next time I try to DM them a meme I'll need to succeed a quick time event else they tear me limb from limb and feast upon my flesh.
