My thoughts on Pokemon: Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee

I saw it recently, and I needed some time to go over my personal opinions on the games. Now, granted, I figured it wouldn't be a core RPG title and kept that in mind the moment I was introduced to it. And when I saw the trailer, I'll admit that I liked it. It looks great! Pokemon following behind you, updated graphics on the Switch, customizable costumes-- seems addicting.

But... My issue with it is that it felt like another way to pander to Gen 1. And there have been countless times when the series has done that, ever since X and Y. Heck, maybe even in Black and White, though it wasn't nearly as blatant. The subtle or obvious nods to the region, their Pokemon being introduced in the newer regions-- it all kind of felt like the team wanted to fall back on the generation to pull in old fans, if not for other reasons. And now we get Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee, who are getting as close to the nostalgia factor as they can by actually being in the region. The Go integration also kind of feels like a desperate attempt to make the app relevant after it sort of went on a decline over the years for a number of reasons. There are also other issues, like no wild Pokemon battles. I know that the game is meant to be geared towards younger audiences and more casual players, but when has that ever stopped them from learning to catch Pokemon through battling, y'know?

All in all, it looks fun and definitely seems like something I'd sink time into, but as a first game on the Switch, I have better options, especially as a first game for someone who doesn't have the console. Namely, the one coming out next year.

Oh boy... Okay, so--🔥 I really don't understand the irrational hatred for heterosexuals (and from what I've heard, bisexuals too) from different sexualities-- not just on this site, but elsewhere as well (just on a lesser level than here). I get that there are a couple of people who don't exactly do much to help their case, but it's not as though all hets and bis are the spawn of Satan, y'know? And I thought LGBT communities were supposed to be about acceptance-- so turning someone away for being straight, I find, is pretty disgusting. They're not defined by their sexuality, like you aren't. Get over yourselves.🔥 The stigma with slurs like the 'n-word' and the privileges that come with them. Like, I get it-- they sting whenever one hears them and it's generally off limits to say-- but when we have people using it for comedy, people don't seem to mind and all. I personally don't mind if one uses those kinds of words to be funny (as long as someone doesn't find it offensive), but sometimes we have people freaking out because, oh my gosh, they said "so and so" so they must be homophobic/racist/what have you. And that's just not the case. This might be something people don't agree with, but hey, that's why it's an unpopular opinion.🔥 Kinkshaming people for a taboo kink. Now, I get it-- there are kinks people find gross; in fact, I'm into kinds that would make people want to dry-heave. But treating them like they're monsters for having a kink you think is disgusting is pretty disgusting in itself. There's a stark difference between fiction and reality, and I believe as long as the person knows that such taboo kinks are awful in reality and prefer enjoying it in fantasy, then it should be fine. No treating people like shit or any ridiculous, serious accusations like calling them pedophiles or anything. That's just stupid and more despicable than the crime you claim they committed just by having a certain fetish. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, it's all good. That's all there is to it.
