I'M CALLING IT RIGHT NOW THIS IS GOING TO AGE VERY WELL AFTER EPISODE 8
I'd just like to state here publicly what basically nobody disagrees with:
We need movie theaters.
If we don't have them, we turn on subtitles because we're losing our ability to listen/infer from context, we fast forward parts we're bored by, we stop and start to look at our phones or order a pizza or turn on something else, or we listen to what someone else is saying about the movie before it's concluded—
movie theaters are a bubble where we agree to let the storyteller take us on a ride and tell us something, and we commit to actively listening and paying attention to nothing else while they're speaking. You can see nothing of the outside world, just the screen. It puts you inside the ride that the storyteller is piloting.
If you take away movie theaters you quarter the power movies have as storytelling tools.
they hit his ass with the "was" im gonna cry
I realized this yesterday, and I started to look back at the series in relation to what Kinger mentioned in Ep 8.
He mentions about how each of them can conjure like Caine, it’s just less instant(“requiring skill and concentration”). Ragatha, and the audience, then remember the healing butterfly from Ep 6.
Kinger, knowing this world better than the main cast(aside from Caine), was able to do this in his “less sane” state. But he can also conjure power the CPU console plugged into nothing, along with accessing Caine’s code by willing it so.
Pomni conjures the exit door to get said CPU console from the C&A office area.
This would also match what sort of happens all the way back in Ep 1.
What Caine may have defended as a “digital hallucination” and claiming that he wouldn’t know what to put on the other side of the door, Pomni still conjured it to appear as she wanted a way out.
I have seen other posts about how Gangle most likely conjured the truck in Ep 4, which is entirely possible.
But the possibilities don't end there; in Ep 6, Ragatha plugs Jax’s gun with her finger and causes it to backfire.
While she admits not knowing if it would work, she still did it; she conjured the gun to backfire on itself.
Zooble, in Ep 4, also just SO happened to have a new happy mask that not only fits Gangle, but was less breakable than her OG happy mask. And while the mask didn't work out in the end, Zooble still thought it a good gesture to try and help Gangle. What if, intentionally or not, Zooble conjured the mask for her?
And what's equally possible is that Jax & Pomni shooting more nonchalantly could be them conjuring the bullets to hit their targets without properly aiming.
Even Pomni's super trick-shot was her willing the bullet to disarm Zooble in one shot(much to Zooble's annoyance); they both conjured/willed the bullets to hit.
Even a friend of mine(shoutout to @nekosounds) pointed out the possibility of how Jax got all his keys...
He has keys to every person's room and then some. What if, for one reason or another, he conjured these keys?
Maybe Caine was right about one thing after all...
The context clues were all there, we just never knew the actual context until now.

Imagine a virus/code that's breaking down the circus bit by bit, but nobody even notices until it's too late.
First it's small objects wigging out or straight up disappearing, then it's NPCs acting wonky and out of character, then there's straight up holes in the world and entire peices of the circus messed up.
Maybe Caine and Bubble are dying/evil?
Could be character x reader?? Platonic or romantic. Any of the cast really (not Bubble). Y/N and character get stuck on another side of the circus from the others, and have to work together to get back to the others/stay alive.
Could be a oneshot but prob a series??? If anyone would actually read it, I'd write it!! I don't know which character I'd write it for, but I think I'd be best at Jax or Ragatha x reader.
Don't know if anyone else has done this but would love to see it! If not, please comment or like if you'd read a series with this plot and with what characters and pronouns!!
Much love!! <3
HOW DID I PREDICT EP 8?
women don’t want a six foot guy with a sharp jawline, they want paul dano to look at them like this
this is why I want to write what I call "anti-lovecraft" stories so damn bad.
In A Shadow Over Innsmouth, the final horror comes from the protagonist narrator realizing he's not rAcIaLlY pUrE after basically calling the US Army in to commit a genocide against his own distant cousins. Lovecraft was deeply foundational to the cosmic horror genre but he was a pathetic coward and a bigot and a sheltered privileged white man. But the ending of Innsmouth speaks to me as a trans woman and as someone who used to consider themself a PaTrIoT of the United States. That guy realizing "oh, I'm a fish monster just like the people I was so afraid of?" To me, that's not the end of the story, that's the beginning. But a racist puke like Lovecraft could never write a story that starts with "oh dear God I'm the very thing I hated, I was wrong about everything." That was his worst nightmare, the end of the line. But it's something I actually experienced, multiple times; I had to find a way to go on living.
So yeah. Women, POC, queer people, religious minorities other than white culturally Christian atheists, people who are more than one of those, we need to be making cosmic horror. Because we know what it's like to live in a cruel and uncaring and strange universe way more than Lovecraft and others like him could ever imagine.
always have. <3
