I cried a normal amount of times. I definitely didn't cry during Yao and Ilyukhina's funerals even though I didn't know anything about them and definitely not during the infrared astrophage scene and definitely not during the scenes where rocky might have died even though I KNEW he wouldn't and. Well. Yeah.

The movie is very good at inspiring emotions, I'll just say that. I was giggling, I was crying, there were parts where I just felt actual WONDER like I really didn't expect that!! It's a gorgeous movie both inside and out.

Tbh I was a little afraid that I was setting my exceptions too high from everyone being like "oh Project Hail Mary is SO good", but it met and surpassed my expectations! Loved the way the nonlinear scenes were integrated (THE RAINBOWS!!!!), and while I knew I'd love Grace and Rocky (and Eva) going in, I found myself attached to the others as well! Esp Carl. Love Carl.

The cinematography was really lovely as well, that's not something I notice a lot, but the camera was so spinny! And the fact that the shots from Rocky's POV go from traditional to the echolocation based on Grace's understanding of him is so cleverrrrrr

And the MUSIC!! I was thinking about how much I liked it during the film only to find out when the credits rolled that it was DANIEL PEMBERTON????? How does he do it

My favorite scene was probably either the infrared scene or the scene where Rocky first shows up in the ball just because of how funny it was

Anyway. Um. 10/10 no notes. The entire movie could have just been Grace and Rocky messing around in space and I would have loved it.
