God I love Vox's whining at the end of Hear My Hope. Alastor might have a point about him throwing tantrums because what do you mean he's technically begging for death and he sounds like a five-year-old stomping his feet on the ground because his mom took away the crayons that he was drawing on the walls with.

Incredibly violent take of mine but I actually don’t think you need to relate to a story in any way to enjoy it. You can enjoy a story even if you can’t point at a character and insert some aspect of your personality or identity into them. In fact I would argue the need for a character like that to be present in every single story you experience is a sign of stunted growth.

its on Erid, long after Grace and Rocky figure out how to hug and snuggle. Eridians dont really do full hugs like humans because then you can hear everyone's internal organs that close so its a little weird, maybe tapping/hand holding is the usual affection. Everyone assumes the constant cuddling is purely for Grace's human needs benefit, and while Grace obviously does love and need the touch, Rocky being driven to space madness and having every form of ptsd means he is equal if not more in need of constant full body hugs because he likes feeling how alive Grace is.

So random Eridian scientists are talking to Grace and are like, absolutely no disrespect intended, but very interesting Rocky overcame the cultural weirdness and sensory disgust of "hugs" and does them despite no benefit to himself because he cares for your needs! Its sweet!

Grace: actually Rocky freaks out if he cant press himself against my lungs and heart through the thinnest xenonite possible until he can hear every muscle cell in my body moving at least once a day.

Scientist: ok cool so hes kind of a total pervert then okay

there’s this term i coined in my friendgroup i call “the charizard effect” and it can apply to anything and everything, but it was born from me explaining my feelings about the pokemon charizard. the term is basically about how overexposure to something be it by corporate shilling or fandom prominence drives me away from really enjoying something bc i’m exposed to it so much against my will i become tired of it. it came to me bc i was ranting about how tpci does not, and cannot stop reinventing charizard, and how it is popular and obtusely included in almost every region, merch, etc in every way possible and it’s highly commodified.

i dont dislike the pokemon charizard, in fact i really like its X form, but i am exposed to so much charizard in my pokemon consumption that i cant be bothered to care for it in any more than in passing. this applies to a bunch of other stuff i’d otherwise be ok with, but i always just call this aversion phenomena “the charizard effect”

being aroace myself i am all for aromantic and asexual positivity posts but there is such a weird uptick of people saying things like "people who feel romantic/sexual feelings are weird" and "i dont believe in people actually feeling these things because i dont personally feel them" and its just like. woah man. slow down. we can have aroace positivity posts without invalidating other peoples identities. by saying things like that you are effectively saying a very large amount of queer people are not real, or are strange for feeling that way. i need some people to understand that "these other people who are of a different sexuality than me are strange and wrong because i dont personally understand it" is not the queer positivity you think it is
