Hot take: Tangled: The Series would have been boring AF without Cassandra
I have been lurking in the Tangled the Series fandom for TOO LONG so i am going to start posting my art for the remaining people still here with me in the trenches 🤭
these are my favorite characters in their s1 outfits!! would not be surprised if you could already guess who my number one favorite is yet
How I imagine Cassandra will look at the resolution of this show right after Rapunzel has confessed her deep, romantic love. (I HAVEN’T FINISHED SEASON 3, NO SPOILERS PLEASE!)
(My girlfriend after I texted the clip of Cass and Raps racing horses in that one Season 2 episode: “Oh they got CHEMISTRY chemistry, I see”)
(Rapunzel after hearing about polyamory: “Many loves?? What’s more romantic than that 😍?”)
(You mean to tell me Eugene and Cass don’t have peak meta energy??)
(I do not accept the sister thing the show is pushing.)
(Somebody tell me the Rapunzel/Cass ship name, I KNOW one exists.)
via Tom Caulfield on Instagram: Here’s another short sequence I done for Tangled the series. This time it’s Pascal sneaking into Casandra’s tower that used to be Rapunzels tower (that I destroyed in season 1)
This song is so them platonic or not
Do you have any input on how TTS explored Eugene's character? Specifically on the proposals? I know at the end of the 2010 movie, it's stated that Eugene proposed several times before Rapunzel said yes, which they obviously had to incorporate into the show one way or another.
The main issue I had with the first proposal was the fact that they made him seem relatively insightful with how she was feeling during the first movie? He was never made out to be ignorant in my opinion (except maybe for the very beginning when they first leave the tower.) I would think he would think it probably wasn't the best idea to propose on such an already overwhelming day, even if he was under the assumption she would want to be engaged. It just felt somewhat out of character to me.
I'm very curious what your opinions are! Sorry for the wordy paragraphs lol.
I don't have any insights into the process beyond what you mentioned, but I didn't particularly have an issue with him biffing the first proposal, for a few reasons:
Everything that he mentioned when he was pouring his heart out to what he though was Rapunzel but turned out to be Pascal: he correctly read their connection, correctly read that she'd want to spend her life with him. But he was acting a bit out of insecurity, something which movie Eugene does canonically have. Also, Rapunzel has always tended to try to hide how she's feeling when it's negative, so him not knowing that she wasn't ready is at least partially on her for not communicating her wants and needs. (I do have a problem with the writing team deciding that she wouldn't trust Eugene with that information, but would trust Cassandra, though.)
Eugene is also still trying to impress her family still. Although we have no reason to think that he's not good at playing royal, he's not actually trained to be noble, and would easily see a proposal as the perfect bow on an already big occasion like her coronation as heir to the throne of Corona. Again, Rapunzel didn't let him know otherwise that she was already way too overwhelmed.
As for his insight, even Eugene was in over his head a bit. He's spent the last six months trying to figure out who Eugene Fitzherbert was, because at that point in his life, he'd been Flynn Rider for longer than he'd been Eugene. He was trying to fit into castle life, trying to convince the rulers of the country and guards alike that he deserved to be there with Rapunzel, trying to navigate this new life just as much as Rapunzel was. Plus, more than anything else, he respects Rapunzel. He's never forced her to talk about how she feels, even in the movie, so when she keeps closed off, he doesn't try to force the issue, and that's a consistent trait of his.
More Rapunzel and cass :3
I struggle a lot when i draw Rapunzel for some reason
No, never

Some designs for the Swan Lake AU @crimehat and I are rolling around!! And some chibis bahaha Moze (later) wants to break Punz's curse, he's determined to be the one to do it, so he has ZERO qualms about purposefully sabotaging things for whoever else might be trying (Probs Eugene?? Undecided but likely) That said he's still Mozenrath, and initially things are quite tense between him and Punzel.
AS FOR DESTANE: Still kind of working out his motivations (tho sometimes Rothbart isn't really given one) BUT he IS the Rothbart figure here - which is also why Moze is Odile.
Von Rothbart is often associated with owls, but that didn't feel right for Destane, so in my heart he has vulture vibes, and I did try to v v subtly include some elements from the Lappet-Faced Vulture in his design. (tho it's probably not super obvious lol)
Watched the Tangled series and I loved Cassandra’s outfit!
I wanted to draw something cute …and I ended up drawing them
When will her life begin? 🌿
there's a father's day somewhere
