post DoTO outsider. short story under cut / alt. ver of ref sheet
There is a man, down the darkest pit. The People of the Isle can find him between the aisles and chattering tables. The city night covets him, and the shadows that cover him, he is a man of no face.
Faceless, they call him. Not for he covers his face, or one's disfigured, but the way light bends in queer angles, and how darkness falls upon him like a gentle caress, his face nothing but a mere shadow.
The people greet him in kindness. For he gathers all in taverns, bars, and more, to sit at his table, chat and drink some more. They know nothing of the man.
When they look at him, they regard a noble soul, with a striking face and a smile in his wistful eyes. The coins and drink flow like blood of a heart, the hours pass by like malt in the street.
How curious, was his name the Faceless, when they all could see was a man so ordinary, he could be your colleague, brother, father, or a stranger in the crowd.
When the people wake with the sun, they could all but remember the shade on his face, and the moving lips of words unafraid.
Faceless, they call him.

i imagine a post doto world as if youre playing dh3, which takes place 5 years later
in dh3, you play as wyman in morley. its incredibly unfinished/just babbles but in morley, wyman gets caught in a conspiracy which eventually leads to faceless making contact with them. faceless acts as wyman’s only informant similar to billie in dh2 and ability provider. morley is the head of league of protectors, so they must be on par with corvo’s own skillset. i imagine morley being this place that excels in gears, so think solarpunk europe lol. so wyman’s abilities are not one from the void, but from their excellent use of gadgetry and items.
an example would be wyman’s ‘blink’ parallels emily’s far reach by using a grappling hook. in the dh games, the outsider seemingly excels at crafting items (think of the heart and timepiece), so it is very ironic that faceless still manages to empower his ‘follower’ with inhumane powers over others by using his own inhumane mechanical tool-making skills, making and upgrading wyman’s tools to navigate morley. runes will be replaced by special gears/resources for faceless to use and give to wyman
faceless travels with billie across the many isles, helping the common folk and is so totally not partial to the whales, animals and less fortunate. helping billie to plot against corrupt factions and rich people to help with the folk etc. billie trains him and he’s very adapt at almost everything, except emotions. he’s emotionally constipated i think being a 4k year old god does that to you.
the reason why faceless is involved in the conspiracy in morley because billie got dragged into it and is currently missing. in this dh3, the abbey, new generation of cultists and the outsider’s past are highlighted. eventually, you’d get to travel to pandyssia and find the ruin of the civilisation there
also yes the conspiracy will become tied back to dunwall. in dh3, emily low chaos is the canon run (that’s because it’s just more well connected with emily’s character development and wyman) and she would be the only remaining marked person in the entire world. she wouldve lost her void powers but she still has a connection to the ‘new void’. everyone gets on the ship to pandyssia to get to the bottom of it all
i imagine when faceless and wyman gets to dunwall, emily and corvo will greet them both
wyman: “ah, here’s my friend. you might know him, they call them the Faceless.”
corvo: “well, a friend of wyman’s is a friend of…”
emily: “outsider’s eyes- wait youre…”
faceless: “hello dear corvo. emily. it is good to see old friends again.”
emily: “your eyes… they’re so-“
wyman: “wait, you can see this bastard’s face? i threw a torch at him and the light just bends away!”
faceless: “that they did.”
corvo: “i can see them too. theyre a surprising shade of green.”
wyman: “okay, im being left out here.”
faceless: “sorry friend. no painting or drawing can catch my essence, and i know people of morley would challenge that but they’ll find it mysteriously scorched.”
emily: “only those marked can see your face?”
faceless: “those void-touched. billie sees me just fine.”
